Preseason Game 1 - Nets vs. Knicks - Saturday, December 17, 2 p.m.
FINALLY! The Nets will take the court for the first time in eight long months Saturday as the Knicks come crashing across the Hudson for the first of five meetings between the two teams this season, two in preseason and three in regular season.
For the Nets, who are still waiting on Kris Humphries and Andrei Kirilenko (and Otis Smith), it will mark the start of the franchise's last season in New Jersey and second one in Newark. All but one of the 16 Nets in camp should take the court, the 11 who have fully guaranteed contracts (minus Jordan Williams) plus Stephen Graham, Ime Udoka and the three Springfield Armor players.
For MarShon Brooks, Dennis Horner, and Jerry Smith, it will be their first time in an NBA uniform. Shelden Williams and Shawne Williams will be going up against their old teammates. The game will be seen locally on YES and MSG and nationally on NBA TV.

Luckily, I’m familiar with New York. It was always one of my favorite cities even before I got traded here. There’s just so much going on at all times, and I love the area we’re set up in, so it’s great.
After the concert, Jay brought us back to his dressing room and I talked to him for about 30 minutes while he was eating. My brother got a chance to meet Jay-Z and Beyonce, which was worth the whole experience. He was so excited. Then Jay took us over to meet Kanye and my brother was so happy. That made his night. He had a great time.

Sounds like a salary cap violation...
Now, just have to get Jay Z to subtly threaten to put some disparaging lyrics about DWill in a song if he signs elsewhere enxt year…
It's ridiculous how happy I get
That we’re providing such a wonderful life for out multimillionaire star point guard and making him so happy

Question about Free Agency
If the Nets sign anyone in the offseason, that person can’t be traded for 3 months. Is that correct? Because if the Nets were to sign anyone today (12/16), they couldn’t be traded until 3/16, one day after the trade deadline.
1 month or Mar 1, with Mar 1 being the soonest

You mean Avery is keeping him to fetch the drinks?
I wonder if he would have stayed if not for the desire for cap flexibility to get Howard?
interesting...
might mean a trade is guaranteed to be on the horizon. He’s an expiring deal anyway, will probably be combined with Petro, Farmar, or both in a deal.
by JerseysFinest. on Dec 16, 2011 6:23 PM EST up reply actions
What’ll really seal the deal for Deron Williams staying with the Nets is when Jay Z comes to trust Deron enough..
Jay Z: Yo, D.. you want to meet Tupac?
Deron: You mean…?
Jay Z: Let me just give Biggie a call and they’ll be over in a minute.
Is there any option to offer Hump less in his 2nd year than his 1st or 3rd year? If so, how much less?
That would seem to be the way to go.
I still think Nets can’t go wrong by offering him a lower 5 year deal, with less in year 2.
Orlando would want him (or whoever gets Lopez in a trade).
1 millioin fir st year, 10 million 2nd year
but 2nd year is team option.
Well, alrighty, then!

I just can't seem to get too excited yet about our 1st pre-season game yet even though it's just one day away...
I know I’m beating a dead horse here but this Dwight saga is killing me. I believe is going to end soon though. I can’t see Orlando AND Dwight wanting this “circus” atmosphere around them 24/7, 7 days a week. They will have to answer same 100 questions a day. Stan, Dwight, Otis and the rest of the Magic are going to go crazy much like what happened in Denver and for the Magic the season hasn’t even started yet. Something is going to give real soon I believe. I’m just worried now with the rumors of LA maybe trying to up their offer or looking to make their offer more appealing by shopping Pau and bringing back other pieces. I’m really hoping that Dwight goes into Orlando’s FO and demands only to be traded to the Nets (which again I will say he wants to come here first) but I can’t see that happening unless his agent does it. I’m just afraid that I’ll check Netsdaily (like i’ve been doing every 2mins) and see that LA and Orlando have made a trade for Dwight. Com’on Dwight, go play where you WANT to play and I know it’s here!!! Again, sry for this Dwight rant but I believe this is the most important time for this franchise EVER (And I’ve been following them for over 30 years..yes I’m old lol)
Lol gambi, nice post
Some thoughts on what you wrote: If you know me from around here, you know i’m the eternal optimist of ND, but I am concerned about the Lakers. I think BK needs to just keep pushing Otis, which leads me to my next point:
The agent, Dan Fegan, is reportedly ‘’strong-arming’’ Otis so he can get Dwight out of there NOW.
I do agree with you about Orlando not wanting this to become a circus, so I do think it will end soon.
You’re correct about this being the most important time in franchise history. Getting Dwight secures our future for the next decade.
I do think it’ll end soon, and it’ll be a happy New Year for us Nets fans.
RIP baby. I love you forever. Our dream of seeing D12 with the Nets is getting closer.
Shawne
"I’m not saying I wouldn’t have no minutes in New York," he said. "There were minutes there too. I just feel like it was the best decision for my career, making myself better as a player and trying to take it to the next level."
Translation:
With Dwill at the point, I will be getting the ball more often then fighting rebounds from the bricks laid up by Amare, Melo, Douglas and now Bibby.
Also:
The Nets suck so much at the wing positions they had to pay Travis Outlaw 35 million to play for them. I think it’s fair to assume I will get playing time.
