5 Possible PF Trade Targets for the Nets

1. Antawn Jamison; Cleveland

35 Years old

Stats:

18 PPG

6.7 RPG

Remaining Contract:

2011-12: $15.1

Note:

He's old, but he still has some points to contribute to a basketball game. I don't see what Cleveland gets out of keeping him. In the midst of their rebuild, getting another young player or draft pick from the Nets couldn't hurt. Dumping Jamison to the Nets could allow Cleveland to throw some money at Nick Young, who would be an interesting addition to the Cavs.

2. Jason Thompson; Sacramento

25 years old

Stats:

8.8 PPG

6.1 RPG

Remaining Contract:

2011-12: $3M

Note:

The Jersey native has always flown below the radar and seemed to struggle to find playing time in Sacramento. With the team bringing in JJ Hickson and Chuck Hayes, it doesn’t seem like they have any faith in Thompson. He’d be a nice addition to the Nets. His painless contract even expires at the end of the year.

3. Anthony Randolph, Minnesota

22 Years Old

Stats:

7.6 PPG

4.0 RPG

Remaining Contract:

$2011-12: $2.9M

Note:

Anthony’s statistical output came with under 15 minutes played per game. Factor him playing 36 minutes again and you’re looking at 17 & 10. His real output would fall someone in between. There are just too many forwards in Minnesota. The young T-Wolves have more to gain by letting one of them go.

4. Jason Maxiell; Detroit

28 Years old

Stats:

4.2 PPG

3.0 RPG

Remaining Contract:

2011-12: $5M

Note:

With the resigning of Tayshaun Prince, it’s hard to tell what direction this team is going in. They are however, paying Charlie Villanueava some decent money. Unless he’s amnestied by the end of the day (Friday; 12/16/11) he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. With Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye playing a little PF, and Greg Monroe in the fold, it’s hard to see where Maxiell could find time to contribute. The Pistons, even though they have some decent veterans, are well on their way to a rebuild.

5. Anderson Varejao; Cleveland

29 Years old

Stats:

9.1 PPG

9.7 RPG

Remaining Contract:

2011-12: $7.7M

2012-13: $8.4M

2013-14: $9.1M

2013-15: $9.8 (Team Option)

Note:

Pulling the trigger on this trade would most likely mean unfortunately, Dwight Howard has been shipped to the Lakers and committed long term. Unless of course, Orlando had interest in the big Brazilian. You get Anderson’s near 10 and 10 and a fairly large price, but those stats come with a big active body who can really D up any big in the league.
