Around SBN: Shaq As Orlando Magic General Manager? Don't Bet On It

S-Will Starts at PF Saturday

Shelden Williams will get the job of guarding his former teammate Amare Stoudemire Saturday, Avery Johnson told beat writers Wednesday. And he's probably get a lot of minutes. Another possibility, Jordan Williams, will be out with severe dehydration for up to a week. J-Will has reportedly struggled early on. Johan Petro and D-Leaguer Dennis Horner are likely to back up S-Will.

Johnson admits he "doesn't have a whole lot of options" at power forward right now. The Nets, whose roster has been swept up in trade, is likely to start Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Anthony Morrow. Johnson has said that if the Nets acquire anyone in a trade or free agency, if they can get to Newark, pass a physical and get familiar with the playbook, they could play.

Seen this before, but this really bothers me
The best the Nets can offer for Howard is Lopez, a less accomplished but more durableversion of the Lakers’ Andrew Bynum

I just can’t fathom in what world Bynum is more “accomplished”. Yes he has rings but he was mostly in a suit. Skip “loud mouth” Bayless said Bynum >> Dwight when healthy. What is everyone smoking that I’m obviously not.

Seriously...

what has Bynum accomplished?

Muscle cramps, throwing up, lightheadedness, fainting

Guess we know who the one guy was that Avery said was out of shape.

I thought they were given personalized training regiment before the lockout?

SMH

He didn’t take it seriously I guess. Or thinking the lockout will cancel the season.

He must be struggling financialy. But this is where the agent can step in and help.

Git it done!

Berger
UPDATE: A league source told CBSSports.com that the Magic are “not in a rush to do anything,” and that the team’s first priority is to keep Howard. The scenario as currently constructed with Wallace joining Lopez in Orlando as the primary pieces is not enough to persuade the organization to move forward with the deal quickly, the person said.

“If people think things are imminent, then they’re being led down the wrong path,” the person said.

No source means it can be made up

it’s not about common sense. There’s no common sense in pissing off the Boras of the NBA in agent terms. See the light.

Lol, I see the light

Dwight or Bust
Nets lose 33+ games this season.

How can you say that?

Because Berger pulled stuff out of his moiso?

obvious for so many reasons why Orlando

Waits until the deadline.. We will still be desperate..Orlando knows that an it benefits them to wait

perfectly fine move

Better draft picks an can get marathon

by orangeeater on Dec 14, 2011 12:13 PM EST via iPhone app up reply actions

Why would the Nets offer more at the deadline?

to trade for a guy they can only offer 4 years. When they can give up nothing and offer 4 years in the offseason. He only wants to come here.

This

orange, you don’t know the meaning of posturing, I guess. With Fegan being such a big agent, you think he’d EVER steer any of his clients to Orlando if the Magic backed out now? There are so many reasons why it DOESN’T benefit them to wait, and they know it. More posturing on their part. Orange, try to convince yourself to be optimistic. Even if you don’t believe it, it can’t hurt you, and if it does, means you’re taking this way too seriously.

Well it's not like we have a deadline now. Nene is gone.

Once they see Brook in action, MarShon in action, they’ll pull the trigger.

by NJ4Life on Dec 14, 2011 12:09 PM EST reply actions

Like what I mentioned when the "deadline" first came out, this deadline was triggered by Nene

Nene can’t wait anymore, and Fegan needs to take care of his client.
BK needs to make the decision quickly. Maybe upon knowing that Otis is listening to proposals, BK let go of Nene.

Now the waiting begins … again. Nets are all in.

Didn't we give Jordan Williams a two year deal?

I can’t believe he had the audacity to come into camp out of shape. Totally inexcusable. Now he’ll have to fight his way out of the doghouse. Good luck with that.

he’s only 6-9! Who is Avery trying to fool?!

DIDN'T YOU READ THE TITLE????????

Fire Johnson and hire Van Gundy - I'm telling you Thorn was smoking something when he let Van Gundy slip away in the night.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Dec 14, 2011 12:55 PM EST up reply actions

Yes, I'm refering to Avery's statements earlier

When he stated that Williams would be a center and talked about putting James as a PF. It didn’t make any sense and I think he saw that and changed his mind
