Nets' Power Forward Count: Zero
The Nets added Shelden Williams to the roster Tuesday, but Avery Johnson indicates the new guy will be used primarily as a center. That means they've still got a hole at the power forward position. And if things don't change before then, Johnson says that D-Leaguer Dennis Horner could start at the four against Amar'e Stoudemire and the Knicks on Saturday. "Or you’ll see us go with Petro and Brook or maybe Damion James at the 4," Johnson says.
Stephen Graham has even been playing some power forward. James and Graham should be the small forwards on Saturday. Johnson says that Travis Outlaw will be cleared to practice on Friday, but won't play in Saturday's game. Friday happens to be the deadline to waive a player with the amnesty clause.

Not what I meant. Reading it again, i’ll just say that he says it’s a slim chance he’s staying, but Dwight’s situation was why he re-signed. Maybe he knows what could potentially come back in a trade, and likes the pieces. Only thing I can ascertain.

If DH12 wants to be traded, he has to force them to trade him before January 1st
or he is going to lose huge chunk of money if he is traded after that. Essentially he has to stay with Magic to get that money. I don’t think he wants to leave that kind of money. So if he is not traded by January 1st, he probably would be a Magic. Now that is a gamble from Magic and end up in a disaster for them if DH12 decides to leave after this season.
So DH12 sending mix signals is confusing at best.January 1st is about 18 days away

have heard nothing good about him. Even Graham is playing PF. 2nd rounders don’t always make the team
Wow, when you put it that way..
Brook, Petro, Graham, Morrow, and Williams starting?
Ok, I get what all the concern on here was about.
I'm tired of the Dwightmare lets move on.
I personally think Brook will really breakout this year, being healthy, playing with D Will and 4th year or so in the league often isa breakout for big. if we revisit this as the dealine and Brook is looking great (his true value is seen), Bynum is injured and the magic are desperate because they have no more time to posture. Then we can get a better deal and not take back Hedo. I personally love Lopez and am ready to move forward with him either way. So at this stage my position is screw it. Nene up?

There are too many variables we just don't know about shea
What if Brook isn’t progressing?

Judging by J-Rich’s comment, Otis knows play time is over. Now it’s just a matter of getting it done now before any of the variables I mentioned above don’t work out.

Were you here for Bron and Melo? I was, and anyone here can tell you how over the top I was. While i’m always optimistic, and do agree this can be a drag on all of us, look at everything that’s come out since Friday(you know it all. I won’t list it all again). We can’t move on until a definite NO has been given. We can’t take a chance of losing Deron by giving up before we know the whole story. No one saw the Deron move coming. If you remain positive, it will happen. As Nets fans, we deserve it.

Meh to be honest I took this stance with the Melo but you are right unlike Melo if you have the chance to aquire a talent like Dwight you have to go for it. There is a time we have to set a dealine right now I was just feeling like this was the melo situation all over again. I do Dwight will be traded one way or another before the season.

Um because there isn’t even a CBA yet. If the new CBA said that you could amnesty a player you traded for, then we definitely wouldn’t use it on Outlaw. However, since we now know we can’t, once the rules are in place, the Nets can make a decision. <--- eLonepb

Jersey Strong, Brooklyn Ready
new thread
whats up, how about we trade for Millsap?
This Dwight thing is getting crazy. I really want him on the team, but the season starts in less than two weeks. I still think we could very well get Dwight before the week is up, but if we don’t then what do we do? I was a strong supporter of Nene as the plan B, but I thought of an alternative plan that would keep us flexible.
How about we trade for Paul Millsap? His numbers seem similar to Nene, and he used to play with Deron. Therefore, this could really please Deron. The most important part tho, is that his contract is half of what Nene would be getting. By trading for him, we would fill the PF spot with a solid player as well as maintain the ability to bring back both Hedo and Dwight.
Without Dwight:
Deron / Brooks / James / Millsap / Brooklyn Lopez
With Dwight:
Deron / Brooks / Hedo / Millsap / Dwight Howard
Now the question is, do we have the assets to get Millsap and still have enough to trade for Dwight? Would Morrow, Farmar, and a 2014 first be enough? Is it too much? I don’t know how high O’Conner is on Millsap, but him and Billy are friends. Also, the jazz have plenty of talented big men already(favors, kanter, jefferson). This way we would still have two 2012 firsts to offer and Lopez to the Magic.
By doing this move, we would be competitive this year, make Deron happy, and have capspace to sign Dwight next year as an FA.
What do you guys think?
not a bad idea
I like Nene more though

Hmm not a bad thought...
…Why does it sound so familiar to me? Probably because I proposed a similar scenario in the last thread. Crazy stuff right there. My idea however was to just steal Millsap from Utah when they weren’t paying attention because they probably wouldn’t notice one big man missing from the fleet. No way we trade for him though. We’d at least have to give them our picks at a minimum I’d assume.

If we find out we're not getting Howard, I would offer Farmar and a pick, maybe Petro too,
short contracts. Frontcourt of Nene, Lopez and Milsap would be realy nice.

Any chance 3 team deal could materialize with Orl.Den. and NJ
NJ get Nene on S&T and Dwight
DEN gets Brook, absorbs Turkoglu Contract
ORL gets Faried, Gallinari and one of their young Centers along with cash and draft picks
Not sure Den would do it with Brook only having one year remaining on his contract and im sure alot more players would need to be moved to make it all add up as well
Maybe we S&T Hump to DEN too

Yesterday I was panicking.
For some reason I feel calm today.
Probably the thought of GrahaMVP as the team’s starting four.
(No, but seriously, I do feel confident today for some reason.)
Every time I panick
I go back to this: Billy is not sitting around staring at a wall. He’s been in contact with Fegan.
However they play this, they have a direct decision in mind.

Thats the only thing thats keeping me from not pressing the panic button and going to Defcon 1
He cant possibly be doing nothing for no reason
When I panic(which is rare)
I bring up the NETS GET DERON WILLIAMS!!!!!!!!!! thread. Makes me feel even more hopeful. I do agree, though: BK isn’t doing nothing for no reason. He knows what needs to be done.
I'm bipolar. Just remember to read this before you respond to or read my comments. Someone here forgot to.
I agree Elone
more, is that Nene is patiently waiting. Which one can only assume is that Nene also wants to come play in NJ with Deron (knowing that Denver is just not going to compete anymore). So I’m sure he already has the agreement with Fegan, come Thursday or Friday either Nets have Dwight or they have Nene.
One interesting thing I just thought of, could Nene really have meant what he said, that his next contract isn’t about the money, but about competing. Wishful thinking, but what if Nene is waiting to see if Nets land Dwight this week, to then sign on as the PF?? Yes, he’d take a massive hit $$$, but like he said, he invested smart, he’s made a lot, now he just wants to win….
one can hope

The worse thing that could happen is

the other reality is
Nene signs after training camp. Then what.
It will take how many games for Dwill to get comfortable with Nene. No training camp NO chemistry. I dont care how good you are.
It's basketball, not football
There’s not a huge playbook nor any complex play calling verbiage to learn. 90% of the time teams run a basic type of offensive set, e.g. pick & roll.

Have had the same thoughts
Except I don’t know if I could bring myself to cheer on another team. Might just stop watching the NBA.
But I do believe BK will pull through. Even without Howard, Brook, Deron and Nene would be a really nice trio while also leaving us cap room for next year.
Hope for the best
Why?
you lived through missing out on LeBron, Melo, and a 12 win season and a 24 win season.
You can live through another year of Outlaw and Graham… on the bench
Nets Mets Giants ALL DAY
see, i really can't
outlaw being paid 7M that could be used to pay afflalo/kirilenko etc

Chris Mannix on Jim Rome just now
Said the following about Dwight:
- He’s leaving Orlando but it will be a Carmelo drama
- He decided long ago he wanted an out. Loves idea of playing next to Deron for next 5 years in Brooklyn
- Orlando is going to take time, will be gone by deadline
- Lakers #1 priority is Dwight
- Doesn’t make sense to give up Bynum & Gasol and Lakers probably won’t, and Orlando probably doesn’t have interest in Gasol’s 3 years
- Bynum is best piece in any of these possible trades
- Can take bad a different bad contract with the TE (Jameer)

Mannix is not credible
some of that is true, but when he says the Magic will take their time, he’s full of moiso. No one(including him) brings up the financial ramifications. Idon’t care what Otis wants to do(spite Dwight or what). In an age when most players are about money, this is no different, and don’t think Fegan won’t make that VERY clear.

Ok I'm just gonna say what I'm sure plenty of us have been thinking at least once during this circus...
…What affect would a Bynum injury have on this saga? Seems like its not a matter of “If” but “when”. At what point of the season would the annual Bynum injury most benefit The Nets? If he falls and seriously hurts himself later on today during a shoot around should we rejoice or rejoice while wishing it had happened closer to the deadline so Orlando wouldnt have much time and may end up accepting a much lower offer from us than what we currently have out there? I know it’s terrible to hope for a person to get injured and I would normally feel bad if it happened but luckily I can just think back to the playoffs last season and his disgraceful little stunt that got him suspended. Karma better be wearing a Nets jersey right now

Avery better not use that stupid excuse this year if we start losing games
“Well we are a young team”
" we are still learning to crawl let alone walk"
Lakers Vs Nets for Howard
Here is my theory (I think we should be positive at this point):
I am convinced that the Magic like Lopez more than Bynum.
1) The Lakers would be out of their mind if they don’t trade Bynum, first round pick for Dwight Howard and Hedo. Kupchak is not dumb.
2) The Nets are at least offering Lopez, 2 first rounders, and taking back Hedo.
Of the 2, I believe the Magic like package 2 more. The long wait is based on whether or not the Lakers cave and give them Gasol too. The inclusion of Gasol is holding up the trade. Therefore, that’s what it will come down to. If the Lakers cave, they will get Howard. If not, it will come down to the Nets or staying with the Magic.
This logic is flawed
Because you believe the Magic GM, Otis Smith, to be of sound and rational mind.
He is not.
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
"Your 2010-2011 New Jersey Nets - It Is What It Is"
Well, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt
That has to be his logic.
elone it's not flawed because
Fegan is driving this bus. Otis could be the worst GM ever, but when someone is pressured as much as I think Otis is being pressured, he will eventually have no choice. As nazem said, it only blows up if the Lakers cave, which I do not think they will.
I'm bipolar. Just remember to read this before you respond to or read my comments. Someone here forgot to.
How can you be convinced of something there is no evidence to support?
If Orlando liked Lopez MORE than Bynum…or even just as much as Bynum, we wouldn’t be talking about this anymore because we’d most likely already have Dwight in a Nets jersey. The fact that Orlando covets Bynum far more than Lopez is generally accepted by those in the know it seems. We are all puzzled by this because logic would suggest The Magic would go into rebuild mode and obviously our package trumps all but who said logic plays a part in the day to day lives of Otis Smith and The Orlando Magic FO? Don’t tell him they are rebuilding because he sure doesn’t seem to think they’d need to

This team is pathetic...so is management
They clearly don’t care about New Jersey at all!!! I hate their dumb slogan Jersey Strong Brooklyn Ready. They don’t care in the least about performing this year if they don’t get Dwight..so just tank the season and you better hope Deron signs back up or you won’t be “Brooklyn Ready” either.
I live in Jersey
and dont care if they play in Newark or Brooklyn… it’s too close not to follow them to Brooklyn
I didn’t mean it in that way….they see the Newark situation similar to being a lame duck. They really don’t care at all about winning this year. To tell you the truth, they were probably hoping the strike didn’t end, they are going to end up with a net operating loss for the year by being stuck in Newark. I
If they don’t get Dwight…they are going to fill the roster with cheap parts like last year…just watch
yea i hear ya
But how can BK fold when he has a chance. You really can’t. Howard is an extremely unique talent. I am not advocating tanking a season, but the potential to get Dwill and Howard together is worth the risk (the guy wants to come to NJ – that is unprecedented), even if it means losing out on Nene. I would be okay with that as a Nets fan. If the Deron situation breaks down after Dwight fails, then we can deal Deron and get draft picks this year in a deep draft pool. I believe in Billy King.
I agree
But I don’t have as much faith as others in Billy King. Yeah he made the deal for Deron Williams…but im in the minority thinking he gave up way to many assets (draft picks, I’m fine with giving up Favors and Harris). I think it’s still up in the air if Billy King is a legit GM….
I’m also in the minority who thinks we should not sign Nene…because it will only weaken our draft picks that we can package at a later date for Dwight Howard (Nene will equate to a few more wins). I also think his cap hit is very high.
I think it really is Dwight or bust. And if Deron leaves… it will only make Billy King look worse for giving up the Nets future (draft picks and Favors) so he has a lot riding on resigning that guy…he went all in…he better come out on top or he will be fired.
"Trust the C's?"

Signing Nene and Hump would change it all around.
I just have a gut feeling that
Hump is going to regress a lot this year… he sucked for so long and when started dating Kim, things changed. I am very afraid of signing him long term.
He averaged 15 and 14 with D-Will and has always had high rebound percentages.
He stopped being a chucker on offense and got more playing time. That was the main difference IMO.
Plus, someone will need to get rebounds if the Nets do indeed have Nene and Brook as the starters.

But for the right price, he could be useful on the second unit where his volume shooting could be somewhat useful.
Of course, he’s not going to come for the “right price”.

We haven't been in a rumor since last weekend...
Excluding the whole Chauncey thing. We literally are so quiet that I’m starting to get afraid.
Seriously… I expected to have to deal with one of Petro, Graham and Outlaw. Now I see all three?
Looking at NI post in another thread about the position the Nets are in, i think this is what we should do
waive outlaw. we’re gonna need the flexibility in case Orlando lets the trigger off. Next we have to sign Nene, and possibly give a one year deal to either Humphries or a minimum salary sf.

I'm still confident we get Dwight even if we sign Nene
If Dwight makes it to free agency.. as long as we stay around 10 million under the cap next year, we can maneuver some contracts to get to 18 million. The key is Dwight wanting to be here, which he does.
If Orlando tries to trade him in March.. and we can’t take Turk, they have their own dumbass GM to blame. It’s not like any other team will be able to take on Turk either. It’ll come down to Lopez vs. Bynum.. and in 4 months, one will be injured, while the other will be averaging 25ppg – compliments to Deron.
Go ahead and sign Nene Billy, I’m witchu.
Who the Moiso is Dennis Horner?
Alright King, if we can’t get D12 just sign Nene and be done with it. When we are talking about starting Petro or Horner in a preseason game, we have to just move on.

We've established a deadline that I believe is Sunday
If we don’t get Dwight by then, we turn to Nene. Until then, we continue to make offers for Dwight. It’s a preseason game, and as much as I’d love to see the Nets beat the Manhattan Knicks, we’ve got to adhere to our gameplan for making a big splash in this “offseason.”
the nets have to make moves by weds .. we need at least one day to practice as a team once all of our signings are in. no way do we go into the knicks game on sat with this team. no way

Jets play with a lot of heart and are on the uprise right now (no matter what people say). They have had some great runs and currently have a good team. The “same old Jets” is gone and more then likely wont return for a long long time.

lets face it. Orlando is not going to deal him before the season
they dont want a 25 win team in that new arena. They dont care about shedding Hedo otherwise they wouldnt have gave deals to J-Rich, Wafer, Big Baby, and Larry Hughes.
Dwight is not AI, He’s not Melo, He enjoys Orlando but he isnt going to turn on the team and destroy the locker room to force his way out.
Nets need to act like Dwight isnt coming and put some players around D-will and keep him happy. Nene will need to be here and he will get at least 15 mil a year, deal with it, big men get overpaid. Kwame Brown just got 7 million, Deandre Jordan just got 10.5 million a year.
Now luckily the nets can still amnesty outlaw because aside from nene they still need some more bench players. Reggie Evans and Josh Howard may be low cost high reward signings that pay off and still holding out hope they can get AAA.
And then hopefully they can trade for Oj Mayo, Marcus Camby, Boris Diaw, Michael Beasley, Carlos Delfino, or Andres Nocioni to give the team depth but flexibility for next year if Dwight is officially on the block later or he opts in for the 2012 season and waits for 2013 to be a free agent

butler, chandler, stevenson, brewer, and rudy and barea are basically gone now
kidd and terry both expire next year and Odom has a team option that can be declined that would leave them at payroll of 41 million
Amnesty Haywood: 33 miilion
Trade Marion: 25 million
Dirk, Beabouis, Jones, VC,(assuming they sell/trade draft choices) = approximately 25-28 million payroll with a salary cap floor at 55-58 million.

And now people want to trade Deron Williams. I think I need a break from Netsdaily lol
Rondo – Farmar
Brooks – Morrow
Green – James
Nene – Hump
Lopez – Petro

why is this Dallas news such a shock to people?
we KNEW this is what they were planning on doing, for a while now. doesn’t change our game plan at all, doesn’t change that Deron feels strongly about the Nets, doesn’t change the fact that Deron said the Mavs without Chandler are not as attractive of a destination.
Just chill, people.
Was never worried about Dallas
they can’t have either when both will be with us.
I'm bipolar. Just remember to read this before you respond to or read my comments. Someone here forgot to.
I always knew Mavs were going to be a player in all this
but like I have said in another post.
We have been through this already. Kidd had an opportunity to go to the Spurs and join Duncan. He decided to stay here. I feel the same as I felt then.
It is up to Dwill. If he wants to stay he will, if he doesnt there is nothing we can do about it.
I would be ok with nene and Lopez. If Dwill leaves, we will find another Passing PG somewhere. We lost Kidd and got dwill. We will lose Dwill and get another Passing PG.
It is what it is and there is nothing we can do about it.

Too much negativity and not enough news.
What if Deron agreed to not sign anyone this offseason?
They would have 40 Million in cap space. And like 5 guys with one year left on their contracts.
Brook Lopez
Dwight Howard
Deron Williams
is possible.
"I think I’m the best point guard in the league. No reason. I just think I’m the best.’’-Deron Williams.
Whatever the Nets do in regards to the Nene/Dwight thing, Deron has been consulted on and is 100% on board.

One year of Dwill, Nene, and Lopez playoffs and Maybe Dwill

Dallas Plan
Amnesty Haywood, Stretch Nowitski’s contract over more years.. sign howard and d12 – done
Not Happening
Correct me if I am wrong. If you stretch Dirk, you cant keep him.
You might be able to renegotiate his contract.
LOL!!!! Dallas are players in this, but Dwill wont get max and unless Howard gets traded to Dallas he wont either. Dallas is definitely in this.
Oh Well
Sign nene
No state income tax in Texas. If we don't trade for Dwight; it's time to field offers for Deron!

Can’t have that salary on the books and rebuild. It’s either Deron+Dwight or rebuild .. unless Deron says Brook, Nene good enough.
Nets will decide on Nene between now and thursday.
90 days from now we can trade him with Lopez for Howard. Trade deadline March 15.
ok then another question which i feel i know most peoples answer

Dwight tells Orlando he wants to work things out. It’s looking like he will not be traded and Deron if he doesn’t like the Nets team that is assemble can just leave to Dallas where they both join up.
Very smart. If it can’t happy with the Nets Dallas is still an option.

his champions are old..
Kidd will have to retire.. Barea is a flash in the pan and its hard to expect him to do that for years.
Adding an in their prime Dwight and Deron makes perfect sense and that is what Cuban will do.
Cuban is not dumb. He is the best owner in the league and makes smart decisions
seems like that is the plan
they both opt out.. NJ has a chance.. but sriously Cuban is the man and I can see him selling both Dwight and Deron on Dallas.. and getting them to take less to go there. Kidd and Dirk will sell hard. Who will sell NJ hard? No state income tax. Wont have to deal with the Heat or Knicks or Bulls until the FInals.
Why on earth would Deron or Dwight stay in the East? In Dallas they have a great chance for the finals every seasonb
He will be traded for sure!
Why?
Because under no circumstances will the ORL take another Shaq 2.0. They would have to leave the state of Florida if that happens, especially with the new stadium.
Also, is ORL firing SVG and OS with a same breath? Are they getting rid of a bunch of Outlaw contracts that they have ???
As of D12 of course he wants to be traded. He wants the money and also wants out.
A VP for a week, Alex Whatever, did not change his mind with one sitting.
D12 thought this through for a LONG time.
ON the Dallas front … D12 will not be Dirks wing. Dirk is a living legend in the Big D, and he’s not leaving anytime soon.
I was listening to 1310 the other day. If they have the chance to get Deron and Dwight the fans there would do it

If you are D12 will you be Dirks wing is my question. Will you be his Robin?
D12 wants to be the SuperMAN. He’s not a Robin type.
Dirk will always be the MAN in D.
How long does Dirk have?
Seriously if Dallas is among one of the teams he will sign an extension with it’s obvious he doesn’t mind.
My lil man.....can't tell me god don't exist.
by killa kadafi191 on Dec 13, 2011 6:54 PM EST up reply actions
Another 3 years, and he will be the MAN through out. Also he has a No-Trade Clause.
D12 will not be nobodys wing, I think that’s one of the reasons that he wont go to LA.
With NETS, he knows that D-Will is not into that kind of stuff, and he could be the King Kong of NY.
Are you implying Dirk has an ego?
because that is way off. I moved down here Dirks 3rd year in the league and he is an ultimate team player and never tries to fake who he is with all the acting tough and demonstrative behavior you assume all leaders have to be and have

here it is...
Dirk: 20.9 mil
Dwight: 19.5 mil
Deron: 17.8 mil
That adds up to $58.2 mil. What if Dwight and Deron choose to start their salaries at $17 mil? That will be enough to add all cap holds.
Possible, yes…but highly unlikely
by BKNfastbreak on Dec 13, 2011 7:03 PM EST up reply actions
there is such thing as cap holds
and 11 of them would count against Dallas cap in 2012 if they only had Dirk under contract by then,
11 cap holds about 5 mil
so closer to 20.9 + $5 mil for cap holds + 16.5 + 16.5 = $58.9
by BKNfastbreak on Dec 13, 2011 7:22 PM EST up reply actions
only minimum cap holds

And trust me, I am too. But we should sign Nene anyway and let Otis smack himself in the face come march when NO TEAM will be able to take on Turk.
We’ve established only the Nets, Lakers, and Mavericks are willing to give up anything serious because they know Dwight will stay there…
Of those three, only the Nets and Lakers have something worth talking about…
Of those two, we are the only ones who can take on Turk.
Make a 24 hour threat, and let them cry about it later if they don’t fold. We’re NOT out of the running if we sign Nene.

Nene, Lopez, DWill and two 2012 first rounders you wouldn’t take it and run. Nene seems to be close to the bag.
Fans…………so fanatical.
That sounds fine and dandy
But is that enough to keep Deron here next season? I’m not so sure about that. We went all in on Dwight because that was the only sure way to get Deron to resign, now we don’t know for sure if thats going to happen.
We also screwed up by not going after a SF. Our only option now is AK47 who is asking for 8mil a year.
We have a gaping hole
at both forward positions. Who knows if Nene is a guarantee? It seems like it but we cant count on him until he actually signs with us.

Yes they can, if they take a pay cut, they could make a scary team in Dallas...
Dallas can waive Odom next year, they already opened some more space trading Rudy and Brewer and can amnesty Marion or Haywood, they can have about 25M in cap space… this is what is really scaring me right now, I believe they will be willing to take that pay cut to along side Dirk, that would be the best team in the league, you can’t make a better combo of Big Mens than Dirk-D12…
Even if they don’t take the paycut if we don’t put together a good team this year, we may lose DWill for the Mavs.

But will just be disappointed if we end up executing the same ‘plan’ as we had at the start of 2010. You could have traded Devin Harris for a pick and we’d be LOADED for an epic draft.

i guess we will have to wait untill Otis will make his mind.....sad thing he is dum
by Aidar Berlinbayev on Dec 13, 2011 7:24 PM EST up reply actions
LOL
I think Nets fans give the front office too much credit. They haven’t really proven anything yet to us. ANY OTHER front office would have had some type of commitment before trading for Deron beforehand.
by cosmic convict on Dec 13, 2011 7:25 PM EST up reply actions
Otis just wants to sell out for the XMAS game and have his start there.
Dwight will be gone after that. Happy New Year! :D
Deron is very outspoken, if he hasnt said anything about the Nets signing any players yet, there has to be a plan...
Caron Butler was a big part of it.
Sheldan Williams probably wasn’t.

Nene is the backup option to Dwight
Since we haven’t signed Nene yet, one has to assume Billy is still pursuing Dwight very hard.
by dwill8brooklynbound on Dec 13, 2011 7:14 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah definitely understand that
But Nene isn’t going to drastically improve this team. He’s a quality big in a dry market so he’s getting vastly overpaid. Overpaying shouldn’t be a given….our original plan would have landed a ‘big’ that would be just as good as Nene at 29.
by cosmic convict on Dec 13, 2011 7:18 PM EST up reply actions
Oh there's definitely a plan!
Of course The Nets have a plan. They also had a plan for Free Agency last year too.

What about Sheldon?
Isn’t Sheldon Williams an undersized 5? Why not start him next to Brook? He could shore up our defense a bit. This is a reallllly bad sign. I hope we lock Nene up soon because it would be embarrassing to play a pre-season game with Sheldon Williams starting or worse, this Horner guy. I have no idea who he is so he could be a steal or the next awesome D-League call up but it’s not good that we have players like this with the potential to get major minutes if we fail at getting Dwight or Nene.
Dennis Horner is the next Tom Brady. Book it.
yall have no faith
DWill oop to D12
Otis Smith makes Travis Outlaw look like Avery Johnson
Hump my best bet, nobady signed him yet
i would give him 3 maybe 4 mills per year.

Why are the nets supposedly setting a friday deadline for dwight???
We have a game on saturday…the deadline for dwight should have been yesterday or move on. We don’t have time for this ish
Newsflash
the game on Saturday doesn’t count.
by NetsKiNG on Dec 13, 2011 7:22 PM EST up reply actions 3 recs
Yes it does count....
It counts for building team chemistry and trying to make things work as fast as possible so that we get off to a good start when the season starts.
DWill, is in better shape that any other NBA player...
He will go for 40 points and win it for us, Bibby and Douglas don’t have a chance.
DWill all the way to the Finals!! some day, very close...
THANK YOU

The Dallas Mavericks have agreed to trade Spanish swingmen Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer to the Denver Nuggets for a future second-round pick, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

BK is really starting to piss me off.
I understand that you’re trying to keep any possible dealings on the low. But not saying a word during free agency, while he have very little time to start the season off right…c’moooooon
We missed out on Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer!?
NOOOOOOO!!!!!

I'd rather strike out and trade Deron
if we don’t get Howard…I’m sure we can get two firsts and a solid young player for him. Getting Nene won’t keep Deron and will set this whole thing back….we’ve gotta sign Lopez remember.

No big deal
If he was 2 inches taller he could be starting center , but that’s ok because we have Lopez anyway. Graham is very Karl-Malone like.

Nothing bad has happened... but nothing good has happened to our team.
And if I recall we weren’t “good” last year with the exception of the players many have mentioned throughout this thread. Our PF count is Zero. Hence the apprehension.
I cannot wait for the season to start
Ive been basketball deprived for too long! I don’t care about rumor one, I just want to watch Nets basketball with deron Williams.
Me too....
But we have a season that’s 30 weeks long. Another losing record and we won’t be watching deron playing nets basketball.
I think deron's a Net for life at this point
I’m sure many of you will disagree with me, and that’s fine. Truth is this: deron was wasting his career in SLC. A devoted fanbase, yes, but they were rarely paid attention to outside of Utah. It’s why “Chris Paul is a better PG” is such a common phrase. It’s why he was the only star player on that team.
Winning a Chip won’t happen overnight. Deron knows this. Aside from winning, what more would Deron expect from any team he plays for?
Kidd felt the same way
enjoyed the finals run, liked how the FO runs the franchise, thus he re-signed.
And the rest was history.
Git it done!
look how it long it took for deron to make the all star team too cause of utah bs
"Next year, with a full training camp, I think he can go after that Scott Skiles' record of 30." - Billy King
I understand BK is feverishly working the dwight front, but what are they talking about for the past 4-5 days…is this BK just trying to convince OS on trading smith, or finding a suitable third team..but if he was contacting a third team we would have seen some rumors…no way you can limit leaks when calling different teams to help you in a trade
that we don't know what they're talking about
means they’ve limited leaks, doesn’t it
Would you guys rather have Favors + our 3rd pick last year plus GS pick over Deron now?
3rd pick being= Kanter or Thompson or Valanciunas or Vesely or Biyombo or Brand Knight or Kemba Walker?
Just wondering.

This is my nightmare.
I’m not worried about the CURRENT state of the roster. You think BK is really going to just sit back passively while the current roster looks like this? He’s got multiple plans ready to go. He’d probably be laughing if he read some of the comments on this.
Dallas is a problem. When they got permission to talk to Dwights agent to work out a trade we all mocked them because they had absolutely nothing of value. So what was the point of trying to negotiate with Dwights people? Well as soon as Cuban had his time with D12’s agent, The Mavs have successfully moved so many players and cleared all that cap space for next year. What was said during that discussion? It certainly wasn’t “You don’t have any assets so we can’t work with you.”. Cuban left that meeting with the notion that he needed to clean house and have $20-25 million ready to go. I hate this bleak feeling I get in my stomach because of my loyalty to this team
by NuttinBut on Dec 13, 2011 7:36 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Well he had those multiple plans last year too..
And we ended up with Petro-lawl combo….and yeah we got dwill, but looking back at the explanation of how it happened, that was not planned at all.
Deron for Aminu and Minnesota's pick
win win
Aminu was a lottery pick
Minesota’s pick should be good
we wil be horrible
we would draft 1st and 5th, lets say in the best draft since 2003
I’m not overly impressed with this draft class yet to be honest. And some of the freshmen might even return for another go at the college level futher weakening it.

Nobody really knows Nene's motives behind his stalling of signing for a team
So you can’t say he’s waiting for us….
Nobody knows his motive?
His agent is Dan Fegan. The Nets have a contract on the table for him for max money. He hasn’t signed anywhere else yet. Figure it out.
thank you

It's obvious
Dwight’s coming.
I'm bipolar. Just remember to read this before you respond to or read my comments. Someone here forgot to.
Here's the reason for the deadline
Enough is enough
The second we “give up” on Dwight, Nene will sign
We can amnesty Outclaw
We can start using our cap space (wisely)
We’ll have a decent roster for the pre-season
is everyone happy?
That's a best move
next to we got D. Howard
1 - D. Williams / J. Farmar / S. Gaines
2 - A. Morrow / S. Graham / M. Brooks
3 - T. Outlaw / D.James
4 - K. Humpries / J. Williams / S. Williams
5 - B. Lopez / J. Petro
Just amnesty Outlaw already.
Give the fans a reason to celebrate in these uncertain times.

cavs.. jus puttin it out there in case the nets somehow got them involved in a multi-team trade..
food for thought.

lol, haters, from the Nets facebook page
Here is my random thought. Almost every article on NetsDaily.com has anywhere between 100-1000 comments. Why don’t some of those people come here to the Nets Facebook page and make comments.
in which someone replied
There are so many repeated comments. Nice thing about Nets 24/7 is that repeated posts get deleted. Once someone says it, it’s been said, no need to repost
there are a ton of repeated comments though
due to people not reading, i would say at least 20% of the comments on these threads the last week have repeated thoughts, tweets, ideas, etc

Lakers are on verge of signing Josh McRoberts
Saw this on the ESPN NBA page under the rumors section. It had no contract details.
UPDATE: The Memphis Grizzlies made a run at Josh McRoberts through a sign-and-trade offer and a free-agent bid, but Indianapolis Star scribe Mike Wells reports that McBob is on the verge of signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.
While i understand how most of you feel
the silence isnt bad, as long as Nene is still a FA, and Dwight isnt traded. Nene is one of the top FA on the market (restricted or unrestricted), and he is still unsigned.
I have massive faith in our FO, they have not let us down! I love how BK is trying, but if Otis says no, no is the answer ;)
still nothing huh.
though there’s plenty of more important things in life that’s of concern…
…the Nets silence and FA inactivity(Shelden?) sure as hell is annoying.
I like the Shelden pick-up.
Dan Fegan
Dwight and Nenes agent is on the phone with BK right now. NEne is going nowhere relax. Fegan wants both players here in NJ cause he sees whats about to happen with BK and the Russians deep pockets.
BK and Fegan got this. Either we get Nene and wait on Dwight or We get Dwight and still try and convince Nene to sign for a lil less.
Something will happen Fri.
Nene better be playing ball and working out
even though he hasn’t been signed yet
Nets Mets Giants ALL DAY
Damion James and Marshon Brooks are going to be a 2-3 combo that will be feared in this league soon....
If (But I highly doubt it) we lose DWILL or we don’t get D12 it won’t matter…..These two players are going to be great together for years to come…..
better hope so
camp is open and we have graham and outlaw and shelden williams…i think i’m gonna puke. so depressing that i’m actually hoping we sign nene to the ridiculous contract of 16 mill per year
