Morrow, Brooks Battling It Out

Avery Johnson has been saying nice things about MarShon Brooks the last couple of days (well, at least about his offense) and did it again Sunday between the team's first two-a-day sessions.

"Anthony (Morrow) and MarShon really have a good battle going on," Johnson said. "And they’re so different. Anthony is Anthony, and now you’ve got the young kid who is very creative with the ball, can score, can play above the rim, really can get out and run."

The Nets seem like they've got a good thing going with young guards. Ben Couch talked to the two back-up point guards about playing overseas, Jordan Farmar in Israel, Sundiata Gaines in Georgia.

if we get Howard what we really need is players that can play,

because getting D12 and absorbing Turk, will prevent us to sign any more good players… So we will really need some help from the rookies.
And by the way, I’m not liking how J-Will started, it seems he’s out of shape, he has background problems with weight, so he better get straight if he wants to play in NBA.

DWill all the way to the Finals!! some day, very close...

May seem like nothing to most but I don't fall in love with a lot of players

Brooks is a rare player that I like and even rare that he’s on my Fav team. List of Vince cause I knew he was going to be awesome, Penny Hardaway before everyone jumped on the wagon, LeBron (NI brainer) , although I had a few arguments on whether he’d pan out. Now there’s Brook , the only player I would have maybe thought to take before him is Kyrie Irving . Brooks is better than Crawford so we can stop the comparisons now.

Teams for Arenas that may be a good fit

Portland, OKC, Houston, Golden State.
He could come off the bench and play either guard spot, 15-20 minutes a night

the Nets should trade for Dwight and Turk, sing Kirelenko to vet min, sign another PF (Williams or ball grabber) to biannual exception

then sign Arenas for vet min

Williams/Farmar/Gaines
Morrow/Arenas/Brooks
Turk/James
Kirelenko/Williams/William
Howard/Petro

still have flexiblity to trade Morrow or Farmar

Im loving this kid

He will become a fan favorite. So much passion and heart in his game. I feel like playing along with a superstar like Deron will motivate him. Competitiveness, hard work, dedication are infectious, and feel he along with all our players will benefit from having a true leader and star. Even more so if we land Dwight which will raise expectations.

Except Outlaw.. he is impervious to this infection. He gets paid like outta this world so he bought an antidote.

Brooks is going to end up the starter

And shock everyone. This kid will be known as the steal of this draft. I have a feeling he’s gonna be a star in the league. He clearly has the work ethic to improve his game.

Great I hope Brooks fullfills what I'm expecting from him... A Scoring Machine.

He seems to have the all package offensively, good dribble, good shooting, great slasher, great touch around the basket, and if he really is mentally though like he seems to be, he’s to be for sure a player in this league.

Great battle, Morrow is a spot up shooter and Brooks more creative, excellent combo to have.

I bet he wasn’t expecting this kind of competition this early…..I hope that they become good friends and teamates…..

by NetFan48 on Dec 11, 2011 9:11 PM EST up reply actions

I think Morrow knows his role...

… he has some limitations, and knows he can’t be a starter in any team of the league, he’s very unathletic, can’t defend and can’t dribble, but he has super shot, he’s role his perfect off the bench. He will get better even more this year, second season with the team, and if we really get D12, he’s going to be open all the time, and we know what will happen.

DWill all the way to the Finals!! some day, very close...

there's few players better than Agent Zero when he's on range

He’s a threat to shoot as soon as he passes half court and he’s available?
There was talk about getting Crawford, well this guy’s better. BK make it happen.

Arenas game and also off court issues are not good for team chemistry,

… he has shoot first mentality, that’s great he’s able to take care of the game for himself, but he can’t no longer do that… since the injury his shooting %, is very bad.
If we sign a SG, has to be a defensive specialist, if not let Morrow and the kid get their minutes.

I hear you he's a nucklehead but

it’s better than giving a deal to someone like Crawford imo.
Sign him to a guaranteed 1 year w/ a team option for a 2nd that should motivate him to keep his nose clean.

This team needs talent he’s in range—pull the trigger.

If he acts up and brings a gun into the locker room, waive him.

Orlando's kicking and screaming about losing their favorite toy
When Dwight Howard asked to be traded, the Magic informed him that the team will not let his request dictate their timetable for a decision.

“[S]ources close to the team said there will be no rush to judgment on Howard’s fate, no matter how uncomfortable the relationship might get leading up to the March trade deadline,” writes Sam Amick. “When Howard requested a trade earlier this week, the source said he was told the Magic wouldn’t succumb to the mounting pressure and that Howard should be prepared to play for the Magic for the foreseeable future.”

A complicating factor could be that Orlando is investigating possible tampering by the Nets, the team that is reportedly Howard’s first choice.

Arenas hopes to join Dwight Howard wherever he is traded, according to sources.
