Around SBN: Shaq As Orlando Magic General Manager? Don't Bet On It

With no actual games to watch or analyze, Basketball Prospectus has teamed with Strat-O-Matic to simulate the 2011-12 NBA season. And on the first full day of action, the machine miraculously generated a game where Travis Outlaw shot 5-for-5 from the field, including a game-winning 3-pointer with four seconds left.

The Nets beat the Wizards 95-93, with Brook Lopez finishing with 26 points and nine rebounds, and Deron Williams adding 25 points and eight assists. The Nets' sim squad includes its free agents and its two draft picks.

MarShon Brooks somehow only took three shots in 23 minutes.

Guys

let’s enjoy every single Outlol thread left since he will be gone once the lockout is lifted.

by Andres B on Nov 3, 2011 10:31 AM EDT reply actions

it's the other way around

he owes me and my fellow Nets fans an apology for sucking so hard, lol!

I started the Outlaw hate, thank you very much.

Avery Johnson can go Outlaw himself.

I hate to say it but....

We may have to hold off on that especially in the event we have to take on Hedo’s contract in a Dwight Howard trade so then we could amnesty Hedo instead if we can dupe Orlando into taking outlaws….

by boogeewon on Nov 3, 2011 1:16 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

no

you can’t amnesty players you trade for. Outlaw WILL be amnestied. There are no excuses.

by Andres B on Nov 3, 2011 4:30 PM EDT up reply actions

what will ND write about

when Outlaw is finally amnestied? 1/3 of the posts are Outlaw related.

by SuperGWiz on Nov 3, 2011 10:36 AM EDT reply actions

I wouldn't worry about that...

ND is very creative and imaginative plus the Nets seem to have the knack of finding the next Yi, CDR, T-Will, Outlaw, Graham etc…

by M I K E on Nov 3, 2011 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions

sorry ND didnt mean to violate any commandments or anything… in short what I had written was something like this…Twill should not be put in the same category as a person that was softer than hot bubble gum stuck on the bottom of your sneaker as you walk down the street on a hot summer day (Yi) and please no one can compare to the failure of OUTLOL last season… Twill has great potential and where he lacks in responsibility and maturity he makes up with scoring ability… I can remember when people were calling him the "poor man’s LeBron… the guy won the last Rookie of the month award while on a team that was seen as a joke by the league. Give the guy some credit.

Think about it

At the end of the day, Mikhail Prokhorov will have paid $35M for one season of Trav’s finest play. Scary.

by Andres B on Nov 3, 2011 10:38 AM EDT reply actions

Can NetsDaily get us the boxscore for that game...

I’m curious to see who was our starting five and who came off the bench…

Did Jordan Williams see any action ?

Stephen Graham's stat line really stands out !

1 minute of lockdown defense with no points, rebounds, assists, steals, etc…

He is already in mid season form !

Outlaw is tied for 1st place in FG %...

I guess computer didn’t factor in “odds of that happening” either.

A Bill Murray and the Nets story...(Man... this lockout is sending me off the deep end)

The following is supposably a true story…

When I was about 10 years old, my dad took me to see a Nets game. He had gotten these amazing seats from work about 5 rows from the court. As soon as we sat down, my dad noticed Bill sitting about 4 rows directly in front of us.

A few minutes into the game, a food vendor selling cookies was walking up and down he isle. Bill stopped the vendor and bought about 5 cookies. He then stood up, looked around the crowd, and threw one directly at my head.

My dad and everyone else around us laughed hysterically and I just sat there staring blankly, confused and slightly embarrassed. He then sat down and acted like nothing happened and ate the rest of his cookies.

Now that I’m older, I can appreciate the humor in Bill Murray throwing a cookie at a 10 year old girl’s head in public.

clutch!

well played, Outlaw. well played, indeed.

Maybe this will put a stop to all those naysayers.

There will be so much Outlaw love next season (assuming he's still on the team)

People will be itching to give him as much credit as possible, even if he improves and only has the 2nd worst season of his career.
