Mario Elie Likely To Join Nets

PrintIt's looking more likely that Mario Elie will be joining the Nets as an assistant coach whenever the lockout ends. Two weeks ago, David Aldridge first mentioned the possibility of the current Kings assistant coming east, and now Sacramento has hired two new assistants, Keith Smart and Bobby Jackson. Sam Amick of SI tweets that Smart will be replacing Elie.
A New York native, Elie won three NBA championships as a player, including one with Avery Johnson in 1999 with the Spurs. He's been an assistant coach with the Spurs, Warriors, Mavericks and Kings for a total of seven seasons, including one under Johnson in Dallas.

as I recall
he was an assistant coach with the Warriors in 2005 when Chris Taft was with the team. Another plus (I assume) for Taft.

Assuming Elie, Carlesimo and Popeye Jones
would be the front deck of assistants, with Barrise, Overton and Dalatri

tomorrow, Barclays Center will announce
first college basketball game at the arena will be Kentucky vs. Maryland. Calipari, who is a friend of Yormarks, will be there to make the announcement.

Watched Him As A Player....
Knew he would end up as a coach. He was a very heady player, more smarts than talent.
