Nets Execs Waiting and Watching
Fred Kerber writes about what NBA executives and coaches are doing as the lockout starts to eat up training camp and preseason games with each passing day...and night.
Bottom line is trying to stay prepared without knowing when if ever it's going to pay off for them or their teams.
"I'm watching video. Everything for me is about last year, what happened in games, what happened in practice, how did we have shootarounds," Avery Johnson said recently. "You just continue to grind and grind about how to make what we do travel-wise, practice-wise, shootaround-wise, game-wise much more efficient, even not knowing parts."
Meanwhile, Johnson and other Nets front office types have been helping out on community events, events where players would normally be the headliners.

Is that the Brooklyn Bridge on Melo's Jersey in the Jordan ad?
Because if so, i am pretty sure we all better start writting our protest letters.

If you would start a Twitter account, you could send it to all the players.
It might scare some of them and others would get a big laugh.
Seriously? The Melo ad?
Is that a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge on his jersey?

Oh boy...If lockout goes 1or 2 years Amare and stars going to start new league...
Amar’e Stoudemire, the star forward for the New York Knicks, said Tuesday evening that several of the NBA’s star players have spoken since the NBA lockout began in July, and that in light of the cancellation of the season’s first two weeks Monday, they are “very serious” about starting a rival basketball league if the lockout lasts.
“It’s very, very serious, it’s a matter of us strategically coming together with a plan and a blueprint together,” Stoudemire said. He said the decision would be influenced by how long the lockout drags on. “We’ll see how the lockout goes. If it goes one or two years, we’ll start our own league.”
The NBA declined comment.
Imagine a two year lockout…

Fools have no idea what they're talking about.
Firstly, many of these millionaires don’t have that much cash in the bank, and their lifestyle necessitates them to their regularly scheduled NBA money. Without business-as-usual NBA, even the endorsement money will take a hit.
Now, these fools think they can just get together and form their own league. When was the last time these pampered spoiled athletes even organized their own weekend bb tournament??? I say never. Do they have a clue what the startup costs are? NO. The investors/bankrollers would NOT let these athletes sniff anywhere near 50% profits.

Maybe some rich guy(s) looking for attention somewhere might be...
…willing to bankroll a temporary league? Might not make much money out of it, but would definitely be good for prestige.
Though it might be tough to find places to play since many NBA teams own their arenas.
please stop
its not going to happen, period

It would only start as some sort of recreational games, not much more.
And it would be more like an All Star game, with no defense. They wouldn’t want to get hurt.
Also they say it would only be if the season was canceled, which wouldn’t be known until January.
You are absolutlely right
Crawl before they walk.
Start off by setting up a committee based on their entourage, Publicist, Managers, Business Managers and Lawyers. Start Booking College arenas and/or Civic Centers in different states for each Week they were suppose to have Training Camp, Preseason and the cancelled games and have week tournaments or Globe Trotter type games.
Official Member of the "DIDN'T WANT TO TRADE DERRICK FAVORS, BUT HAPPY WE GOT D. WILLIAMS" Movement
and the lease between the Nets and Newark would permit that?
remember the term of that lease is four years, with team permitted ot opt out after two.

It's talk like this that is seriously making me side with the owners this time around...
First… Why would they even be talking about a year to 2 year lock out? Do you think that’s something NBA fans want to hear? What that tells me is that the top NBA players really don’t have a true mindset for ending this thing ASAP…
Second… If they started some type of league, it would probably consist of 8 teams with 10-12 players on each team. What about the other 400 plus players in the NBA? What are they supposed to do? All of the lower to mid level players better wake up and realize that no one is truly looking out for them. They need to force Hunter to make a deal NOW!!!
All in all, the players are really coming across as very selfish…
AHAHAHAH
I didn’t know Amare is a fool. Oh boy, can’t stop laughing. Are they gonna lease areas from NBA owners? Or they gonna build new ones? Jeez…
