So what now>

Having all of these assets is fine but it doesn't mean anything if don't maximize their value. Building through the draft is very hard and a lot of it is luck. The only way to build through the draft is to draft a guy who can carry a team all the way, superstuds like: Griffen, Durant, Wall, etc... The Nets already missed their best chance when they missed out on Wall. And look at the situation we're in now. The next draft is likely to be very weak with a lot of top prospects choosing not to take a chance on a lockout shortened season and staying in school.

How about asking the Bobcats about building through the draft? It hasn't worked out for them. The just missed out on CP3 and D-Will, got Okafor instead of Howard, and countless other misses and busts. Favors has big potential but is he ever going to be THAT good? Even if he is, how long will that take? How is Evan Turner looking right now?

Free agency is another joke. Other than Carmelo, is there anyone worth giving max money to, and will they even play here? To my knowledge, Tony Parker got and extention, Yao will be lucky to make it through 1 season, Duncan won't leave SA for us. So who's left? Mark Gasol? Zack Randolf? Are they REALLY going to get us over the top?

Any trade we make isn't going to net us someone like Carmelo, so at best we would make the playoffs and be eliminated in the 1st round for years to come. This team has shown that it's much more than 1 player away and unless we get some really lucky ping pong balls, the Nets are stuck in mediocrity for the foreseeable future.
