Lopez's Next Chance at Representing USA Likely To Be 2012 Olympics
Assuming Team USA wins the World Championship in Istanbul this month, the next tryouts for the national team will take place before the 2012 London Olympics.
Barring the unforeseen, Brook Lopez is likely to be "very much in the conversation" for the Olympic Team, writes Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News. In assessing who's likely to make that team, Kawakami breaks down the possibilities into several subsets. Lopez should be at the top of the list calling him the "young hope for a pure low-post scorer" noting that "he flamed out due to some health issues this summer".
Although Kawakami goes deep into the future and handicaps a few high school seniors, he doesn't mention Derrick Favors as a potential Olympian.

it will be very upsetting
if brook doesnt play in 2012
Good
He’s a solid reliable center. Will be one of the very best IMO.

Of course Brook will play
"No one stands on the top of the world. Not you, not me, not even gods. But the unbearable vacancy of the throne in the sky is over. From now on...I will be sitting on it."
Brook
Was the leading scorer among centers this year.

I am talking about Big's not just Centers
if Brooks averages 22 PPG or close to it like we expect only Big’s that are in that range are Bosh. Amare’ and Dirk… Bosh numbers will go down thats for sure, Amare’ has no Nash so who knows so i say between Dirk and Brook unless Cousins catches Fire
IMO, it won’t take Cousins too many years to become one of be the best offensive bigs in the league if he stays focused. Watch out. I think he will be a better offensive player than Lopez.
I agree
I see him as a 25 PPG kind of guy IF he keeps his head on straight. But i doubt that happens in 2 Years
I wouldnt put too much hope for Brook. His poor BBIQ is what’s gonna prevent him from becoming a star. Im not saying he’s not gonna be at all. He will be solid and decent but my hope right now is with Favors. I believe that by 2012 he will be a monster and he might become their version of Howard, if Howard wont join. Favors has the strength, the motivation and the discipline to make it.
Game time, USA vs Angola on ESPN2
I am more interested in Brook making the AllStar team this year.
He will be competing against Bogut and possibly Amare, if he is chosen as a Center. Maybe Amare won’t be insured for the AllStar game either.
Best chance for Brook to make the 2012 Olympics (if Coach K who likes small lineups is there) is for USA to lose this week.
Then Brook would surely be asked to play in 2011 qualifiers, which would help him make the 2012 team.
It would be pretty cool if the Nets are represented by Brook and Carmelo with Favors on the development squad. I don’t hear any more consideration for Devin since his camp invite for the 2010 team. (gratuitous Carmelo comment)
