Avery Gets Another Ring...From the Saints

Avery Johnson has an NBA championship ring from the Spurs and thought he had another with the Mavs in 2006, but couldn't get over the hump.  But now he has an NFL championship ring, from the Saints, for motivational speaking.

At the beginning of 2006, Sean Payton, the Saints head coach, had Johnson in to speak with the Saints.  The then Mavericks close had all the prerequisites: the ring he won in 1999, his coaching experience and most importantly, a connection to New Orleans, his hometown.

As SB Nation reported, when the Saints reopened the Superdome with a victory in 2006, Johnson met with the team in the locker room and received the game ball.

He's been a fixture at games since, as a guest of owner Tom Benson and when the Saints won it all, he was on the field with Payton.  Now, Mark Spears tweets, Payton has returned the favor, giving Johnson a Super Bowl ring.  Now, he's wearing a Yankee cap. Hmmm.

This is a good reason.........

why we should not change this Nets Team……Avery will be inspirational to these young players and bring out the best in them…..Favors…James…TWill…Lopez…etc….I think we all will be pleasantly surprised……

Well I hope The Avery Era Is a Long Successful Happy one

This just shows his prowess as a motivational speaker. Now if the Yanks Win it this year and he ends up with a ring from them as well I don’t see how that is easily trumped unless Phil Jackson or Pat Riley Walk into the room. Avery seems to be an exceptional motivator. An his reputation will have a TON riding on the success of this NETS team. I think 40+ Wins this season from 12 will DEFINITELY Validate him even that much more.

Would love to see Avery get gray here. Not prematurely of course. But I hope Avery has a very long successful reign here.

It’s HARD WORK TIME.

The JETS/NETS are coming!

Avery is a winner

And he will take that winning mentality and translate it to this team. Sometimes success is just as simple as having someone believe in you and with young formidable players they will need both affection as well as correction. Avery will provide both.

I bet he makes Favors cry in training camp.

Hard nosed coach that’s the impression he left in Dallas at least.

Avery

is the real deal. And pratice what he preaches. I won’t be surprise to hear a story bust out about him crashing Sean May’s house just to see what’s he’s eating for dinner…LOL!
