Andre Brown, One of China's Top Scorers, Added to Camp Roster
The Nets have signed Andre Brown, a 6'10" power forward, to a training camp contract.
Brown averaged 26.1 points and 8.2 rebounds for the Zhejiang Wanma Cyclones in China last season. The 29-year-old DePaul product tried out for Nets in 2004 but was cut before the season began. He's played over the years for the Bobcats, Sonics and Grizzlies, two D-League teams, two CBA teams, five NBA Summer League teams as well as for teams in Italy, Serbia, the Philippines, South Korea, China, Puerto Rico and Turkey.
Brown finished eighth in the Chinese Basketball Association in scoring and was among the league's top three point shooters at 47.3%. He had games of 40, 42 and 43.
He and Eddie Gill are the Nets' only camp invites. The Nets will have 18 players in camp: 13 guaranteed deals; three players with partially guaranteed contracts and two training camp invites.

You can’t even see his head, but what you do see looks like he’s about to backsmack dude for daring to reach in.

Well then he looks like he's about to get slapped
For doing such an atrocious thing.
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
But it was in the Chinese league
which even Chinese folks acknowledge sucks.
And yes, I do know Chinese people who have classified the league as not very good.
Lets bring Adam Morrison, Larry Hughes, Hassell, Hayes to camp
see if any step up for jobs now
Kerber new article
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/14003341/karl-could-be-nuggets-last-hope-in-keeping-melo
-Like I’ve always thought, Houston not really in this
-Nets seem likely, still more nonsense about wanting Lopez. This article finally says Melo WANTS to play with Lopez
-Harris officially mentioned as being shopped
-More yada yada in the end.
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
Based on this
He would clearly sign an extension with us..and as far as I’m concerned it’s our game to lose.
Section 129 2010-2011 @ the ROCK
Pulling out when the price gets too steep is NOT losing.
Making a trade we’ll be lamenting in 4 years IS losing.
Making a splash in the offseason is overrated.
LOL
The Nets aren’t going to be strong armed..the Nuggets are going to ask for a steep price initially, that doesn’t mean that’s what they are going to get.
Section 129 2010-2011 @ the ROCK
And don't forget that King is holding back by only offering One 1st round pick during these intial talks.
I hope Berger is correct about Nets being Melo’s 3rd choice and that Houston is not a serious option.
With Chicago and New York, all but eliminated, Nets are in the driver’s seat.
I doubt there is any direct evidence that Melo insists that Lopez is on the team if he were to be traded. I would guess there are a lot of educated assumptions going on here.
And don’t forget that Berger is now known to be wrong about a deal with Hump+Murphy along with Favors. Just that Hump and Murphy would be expirings. There is no need to include Hump (as any 10 year old could figure out).
And it makes little sense for Melo to agree to sign that 65 million extension and give it 1 – 2 months before being traded. Obviously then Nuggets would have 29 teams to trade Melo to, without his approval.
More likely, Coach Karl could convince Melo to see how he likes his 2010-2011 Nuggets team. Maybe they will do well and Melo would change his mind. At the same time Karl and Nuggets could find out whether they really want Derrick Favors and any other Nets players. It is a win win to delay a while.
The only advantage to Melo, of signing that extension with Nuggets, is that he would get his money, even if he was seriously injured. However, Melo does have an 18.5 million player option that he could always use if he gets injured. So he has a backup.
We did make a SPLASH
The splash wlll occur when the firm of Murphy, Morrow, Farmar and Outlaw are making 3’s at a collective 40% clip. SPLASH!!! That’s a very nice arsenal of shooters. Brook, Devin, Favors in the paint creates very nice balance. If it all clicks we will be very tough to defend.
Nets win 40+ games…. a 40 game improvement. THAT’S A SPLASH!!!
The JETS/NETS are coming!
Alright, I'm officially starting to get sour on this deal.
At some point Melo is not worth it. I’ll give up Favors…. But Favors plus Harris plus picks…. It is getting to be too much.
If it takes that, then follow the Reagan administration and Just Say No.
Actually I'd trade Harris for a good PG & PF deal
Berger seems to think we need to send someone to Denver in this deal. Um, we did, his name is Derrick Favors.
The more Denver wants, the less they will get. That’s obvious.
I’m some point this is going to be Hump + Autograph of Prokhorov + Cash
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
I trust the King!
There’s no way he wants to gut out the team just for Melo.
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
Everyone trusts King and Johnson
And I just wonder why sometimes… I am not saying that I don’t trust them, but they haven’t earned much trust. Let me see them earn some trust. Right now Avery has done nothing in either direction and King has wasted $100,000 on Sean May.
Wasted?
We have an owner who is willing to put money into this team. We are in a very unique place and King hasn’t done anything I regret at all.
The signing of Murphy was brilliant. At the worst case we have a double double player from NJ, at the best case we use him in a trade for one of the top 3 scorers in the NBA.
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
If you listened to King talk today
you got the sense he wants to get a deal done, but he’s not going to trade away too much..if Harris goes expect us to get back something along with Melo.
Section 129 2010-2011 @ the ROCK
From this article I concluded
that there is no one else in it besides us. I hope we’re not bidding against ourselves!

Delay, Delay, Delay is good for Nets since the Nuggets will realize Nets are best chance.
Once season starts, they will see all the talent, as will Melo.
NBATV is citing a stmt. from Noah. Basically Noah wants to stay in Chicago and he can essentially veto a trade.
That is because Denver would not accept Noah without signing an extension. Noah was made an offer by Chicago and he apparently is “sitting on it” to use my own language. Seems like he is waiting for Melo to be traded before he will sign.
I don’t understand why Noah can’t demand a “no trade clause” in his contract.
Ha, Ha, Ha. Just another reason why Chicago is essentially eliminated.
I like Andre Brown
I think I saw him this year in the summer league he seemed like a tough dude grabbing all the rebounds, honestly reminded me of K-mart a bit.
chinese league is horrbile btw
sean williams had like a 15 block game and stephon marbury was an allstar
Props to Net Income on the scoop
Told us “a couple” of camp invites according to his sources. And he turned out to be right. Nice reporting there, buddy.

I'd like to see King get Patrick Mills into camp
Patty Mills didn’t sign a Qualifying Offer with the Blazers, so he is unrestricted. I’d like to see someone really fight Uzoh for that roster spot.
Please Prokhorov never again listen to the fools that told you it was a good idea to retain Rod Thorn
What if??
What if the Nets didnt trade for Troy Murphy?
Denver would not have to get more than 4 million back in salary. Denver could be 17 million under the cap……
Hindsight is 20/20 i guess
Have to send at least 12.86 million to Denver, because that is 75% of Melo's 17.15 salary.
If Nets never got Murphy, and were say 13 million under the cap, then they could just send Favors and his 4+ million salary for Melo.
This is the whole problem in a nutshell and I seem to be the only person (no one in the media) who has been trying to figure out a way to make the trade without giving up either Harris or Murphy.
Murphy is more valuable to Nets than Denver, because he actually likes the Nets and would love to have a chance to re-sign next summer. And if Nets want to trade Favors for Melo, they will need a legit. starting PF to compete.
Sorry, I miss understood your remark. The point in hindsight is that Nets like Murphy and wouldn’t have a PF (except Hump) without sacrificing CLee (who we now know wasn’t happy being a Net)..
Everything will be fine if just one of the 3-4 sides in the Melo trade delays. Its looking like nothing will get done in the next few weeks, so why not just delay a little longer when 5 Nets FA signings become available for trade.
Hey if we are about to trade 2 or 3 of our PFs...
I guess we need more right?
" I'm really excited to take the worst team in the league and turn it to be the best in the league." --Mikhail Prokhorov.
This is the best I'll do.....
Harris , T.Murphy (Who hopefully we can somehow get him back) and a 1st rounder and a second rounder……..They will be getting an All-Star guard , an All-Star PF if they keep him and a really nice pick……..This way we keep DFavors , Lopez , DJames , TWill ,etc……I hate to lose Harris but I feel that Farmar will run this team really well…….
