Yes folks, it's ANOTHER Melo thread.
There's been rumors that Melo wouldn't want to come to the Nets since they'd probably have to trade quite some talent to land Melo in New Jersey. There's been talks about a three-team-deal and other proposals. What I think the Nets should do is ring up the phone of the New Orleans Hornets Front Office and ask what they would want for their franchise player Chris Paul. Since they've already traded Collinson, the Hornets don't have a legit backup plan if Paul ends up leaving them. So what the Nets could offer them is a package with all-star Devin Harris as the centerpiece, Travis Outlaw (who can be traded early October) and a future draft pick for Chris Paul. Having Chris Paul on the team along with Brook Lopez would most certainly attract Carmelo Anthony's attention and he'd want to come play for the Nets. If that happens, the Nets can put together a package with Terrence Williams as the centerpiece, Troy Murphy and Kris Humphries (expiring contracts) along with a 1st and 2nd round pick for Carmelo Anthony. The salaries will be pretty evenly, the Nuggets and Hornets will likely have what they want and the Nets will still have Lopez and Favors as their 2 big men. Here is your 2010-11 Nets roster:
Lopez, Favors, Anthony, Morrow and Paul (Starting 5)
Petro, Smith, James, Ross and Farmar (Bench)
Graham, Uzoh, Zoubek and Gill (reserves)
That would be a top 5 team in the East right there.
