Yormark, Ratner Traveling Too ...for Dollars
The Nets players and coaches won't be the only ones from the team traveling around the world in the next few weeks. Brett Yormark is reportedly headed for Moscow this week, hoping to land sponsors among Russian companies, while Bruce Ratner is traveling to China next month, at the same time the Nets play the Rockets.
Ratner is looking for up to a quarter billion in financing for the larger Atlantic Yards project...as part of a U.S. program that in effect gives overseas investors green cards in return for investment.
A Ratner official said the money would be used to rebuild the LIRR railyard east of the arena. The $940 million Barclays Center is fully funded, company officials said as recently as last week.

I heard about this program. Its been around for years.
Basically, our government allows bribery. For a certain amount of money, a Chinese national who wants to live in the USA legally, can offer to start a business in the USA if they bring in enough money and can promise to provide jobs.
I think Canada does the same thing. I suppose that investing money with Ratner would qualify. He can say that he knows Yi Jianlian (Ha Ha).
Ratner is a good representative to bring in the Big Bucks.
With some many wealthy Chinese now, this is an easy way to become a Permanent Resident of the USA.
As a Nets fan...

Carmelo might be happy to know….if financing is in place….for a luxury condo right next to the arena…he has an entourage to keep entertained.

Why would he Justin?
As has been said over and over, the Nets were merely a pawn in Ratner’s overall plan. He used and destroyed the Nets and now stands to make hundreds of millions of dollars off this complete con job.
We the New Jersey Nets fans suffers while Ratner and now Prokhorov make profits even most millionaires could never dream of.
It is so despicable that Stern ever let this guy into his league it is hard to even take it seriously anymore.
Worst/Best
What’s the worst that could happen… Ratner being arrested by the feds for espionage. That would be great for us.
Look I’ve said it for years that Ratner is only looking out for what benefits him not the Nets. Even as a minority owner of the team he still owns a majority of the AY and Barclays. This bothers me greatly. Regardless of Prokhorov’s investment/involvement (which in my mind was his “Hail Mary” to keep the AY afloat) Ratner can still screw the Nets and us,
Ratner is desperate
The reason he is doing this is because he is desperate. It seems that even Proky can’t seem to save him despite this. It might not be against the law to use green cards, but I find it very wrong and some way to be explioting them for his own good. If only we had those cops from the movie “The Other Guys”, Ratner would be arrested for what he is doing.
Yes, let's compare a Will Ferrell comedy to real life...
Tal, Proky is in this for the arena. The arena, as stated above is FULLY FUNDED.
Ratner, the real estate developer is seeking investors for the AY project. is he not allowed to search outside the realm of Mikhail Prokhorov?
I am tired of reading your jibberish.
