Doug Overton, who previous coaches assigned to work with the Nets' young players, will return to the organization this season in a similar role but with a new title, Player Development Coach, the team announced. But Adrian Wojnarowski tweets that Roy Rogers is leaving the Nets for the Celtics.
Billy King spoke of Overton during Tuesday's "State of the Nets" discussion with beat writers. "(Avery Johnson's) got a good staff, from Doug Overton talking to guys and helping them with that learning curve being cut short."
Overton's appointment will bring the coaching staff to eight: head coach, six assistants and player development coach. The Nets are also about to add a Director of Player Programs to mentor young players off court. Rogers, who had been big man coach under Lawrence Frank, was reassigned as the team's advance scout, but will reportedly re-join Frank in Boston.
