Hayes May Land in Tel Aviv
Jarvis Hayes is considering an offer from Maccabi Tel Aviv, the Euroleague powerhouse, according to reports out of Israel. Hayes is one of five members of last year's team who has been unable to land a job in the NBA and even the Israeli offer is not firm. Hayes is reportedly competing with Kirk Penney, the New Zealander who was the second highest scorer in the recently concluded World Championships.
The Nets have held on to Hayes' Bird Rights. They can retain them if he plays overseas or renounce them. In addition to him, former Nets Bobby Simmons, Josh Boone, Trenton Hassell, and Chris Quinn are without jobs. Quinn has also been rumored to be heading to Maccabi.

cost cutting
Net’s cost cutting the past few seasons really hurt players like Boone and Hayes specifically. Both players, IMO, have something to offer to other NBA teams. But I think the way they played for the Nets has made them less appealing. Each had their moments as Nets but over-all they were still a part of bad teams and when they should’ve have stepped up and played hard, lots of times they were simply out hustled by the other team because of the dynamics of how the Net’s were set up and coached. Hopefully Boone and Hayes land on their feet somewhere.
Fair point but Boone struggled to make his free throws and that was not the coaches fault. He also had problems catching the ball.

Hayes can't stay healthy
He had be a nice piece for other team otherwise. I mean his first year he was a difference make for us at times.
the problem is
your opinion is not shared by NBA general managers. I too am surprised they cant get work, or at least guaranteed deals, but the collective wisdom of NBA general managers is that they are not worth a guaranteed deal.
The report of the offer came from The HoopsMarket and was then repeated in ESPN-Insider Rumors.
I thought we shouldn’t believe too seriously, anything from Hoops-This and Hoops-That? (LOL)
IDK
But iMO it shows true value of the players. We all thought Hayes would be able to find next home in the NBA after good personal season for the Nets. Apparently NBA GMs don’t think so. Also nobody wants Boone’s confidence issues on their team. Simmons, Hassel and Quinn are good D-leaguers at best.
Thank God it’s all NEW in NEW Jersey!
Hayes & Tennessee both belong on NBA rosters.
Hayes can shoot and play D like an NBA player… The Capitol is very good defensively, stays ready, and doesn’t force shots.
According to HoopsHype
Hayes turned down a 3 year, $5.8M offer from a Russian team

The problem with Jarvis Hayes...
is that he plays in slow motion. Nice body, nice movement, nice shot, but slow as molasses.
ShamSports lists a $2.68 million cap hold on Jarvis Hayes.
If Jarvis does sign with Tel Aviv, and Nets retain his rights after the season begins, can they still use him for a S&T as part of a Melo deal? Since he couldn’t play with 2 teams simultaneously, how would that work?
Also, if they open the season while holding Jarvis’ rights and also sign a Vet Min to have 14 players signed, they surely will be over the Cap limit of 58.1 million. They would then earn a trade exception of 2.9 million.
Is that a good strategy? Would they be able to renounce his rights or still trade him, after earning that trade exception?
