Farmar Raising Money for Charities Before Heading East
Jordan Farmar will hold two fund-raising events in L.A. next week, then head east to get ready for his new job in New Jersey.
Farmar set up his foundation not long after he signed his rookie contract, spending much of his time and money on children's issues.
Farmar will appear Sunday at a Beverly Hills fund-raiser to benefit Friends of Sheba Medical Center at UCLA, then the next day host his Hoop Farm Basketball Camp with friends at the university's Pauley Pavilion.
In the meantime, Farmar has been playing volleyball at LA's Manhattan Beach with Richard Jefferson and Luke Walton.

no news this week i guess.
There are always stories about the charities of nba players, and nba teams doing community work. I guess it’s better that they do it than not, and it’s good for the nba culture to introduce these young millionaires to charity* but there a public-relations, staged-event-for-the-press flovor that always rings false. I’m quicker to turn off a NBA Cares commercial than even the hated car commercials.
*I personally was sort of moved when Marbury gave a $million right after Katrina. Remember, when Bush said governemnt can’t do it and gave us all the phone number of the Red Cross – that was his big response – Stephon Marbury stepped up big time. Never forget that, it was classy.
