Report:Nets unwilling to include Lopez for Melo Trade

Reading on Realgm, theres a report from a source that the nets dont plan on putting Lopez in the Trade for Melo if we get melo, Its sounds like it could be harris, favors, picks for melo

According to one report, the Nets are not willing to include Brook Lopez in an attempt to trade for Carmelo Anthony. But New Jersey's offer of Devin Harris, Derek Favors and draft picks may still give the Nuggets the best pieces in return for Anthony.

Believe what you want but who knows anything looks like can happen

I wouldnt Mind the Trade even tho I would love to Keep favors and some how convince James would be better then Favors in the Trade

Lets say the Trade goes thru

Farmar/Williams/Melo/Murphy/Lopez

I believe the benchwould be alittle below average, but what can we do with that team and lineup can we compete for aleast a top 5 seed and suprise people and go far

Everyone who reported this got this from the tweet of one new york reporter

Who inaccurately said that we have 9 first round picks over the next 2 years. Wouldn’t put a lot of weight on it

darn. Wish it was true

At least the part about not parting with Lopez.

DJames would be a better candidate as denver has no SF

I'll say it again

let’s ask them about how we can work Lawson into a deal.

Consequences will never be the same.

by NetsMets4Life on Aug 31, 2010 5:09 PM EDT reply actions

Den will keep lawson

Like lopez, Lawson isn’t a superstar, but he is a young complimentary piece at a hard to fill position on a cheapo deal. Lawson is a starter quality player and deserves more PT. Also, he is a winner, see UNC, harris is not, see his effort last season. Murphy would be the ticket, with a big z style buyout.

he is a winner, see UNC, harris is not

wow

Sean May is a winner too. Josh Boone too. Brian Zoubek too.

LMFAO

Murphy would be the ticket, with a big z style buyout.

No. First off, would he agree to a buy out? then, would he accept the vets min? NO, and we wouldn’t have more cap left to offer him anything but a very low contract. And finally, he could sign for a contender if he becomes a free agent. So that makes NO SENSE and we’re not doing that, we can’t afford to lose Favors and Murphy and be left with such a horrible PF rotation.

you can keep your bogus superstar for all I care, Nets are better off with their young, deep, balanced team, and trying to develop their own stars.

They will definitely keep lawson. If they trade Melo, they will be in full rebuild mode, and will subsequently trade Billups and the expiring contract of K Mart. So don’t expect them to trade Lawson.

Dont trade derrick favors

I still dont understand how we intended to sell Denver on Harris if they already have Billups…

I doubt Denver is really interested in Harris.

Either someone thinks he is needed to match salaries or it is just reporters throwing his name out there, or else Nuggets are just trying to keep the pricetag high as a bargaining tool.

I'm not a fan

Even though I think this rumor is just that a rumor. I don’t like the trade idea. We are giving up to much.

I think T-WIll, James, Murphy, and 2 1st’s is more then a competitive offer. They get young talent, expiring, and multipl picks take it ofr leave it. No need to offer Favors, Harris, or Lopez those three are here to stay.

Realistically who will Melo sign with that can offer anything better then that. NY maybe if they include Gallo and AR (one or the other is not going to do it). Clips maybe if they include Gordon and Kaman, but will he sign there? SAC, sure if they add Evans or Cousins which is unlikely maybe something around Thompson would do it I just don’t know. Again will he sign there?

Right now we have no need to offer anything significant like Harris and Favors until other team steps up and puts a better offer then the T-wiil, James, Murphy, picks deal. Hold your ground King.

am i the only one

that wants to keep Devin Harris here, when healthy is an all-star and if we were to get Melo, wouldn’t we have a better team with Harris as opposed to Farmar?!?! smh

by bbatts30 on Sep 1, 2010 1:02 PM EDT reply actions

with jordan farmar devin harris is the only expendable tradable asset that

the nets have that teams may want, i would like to keep devin, but i see jordan fitting in with lopez and melo doin just as good as devin would… plus i think jordans defense is a lil bit better plus harris is kinda injury prone, but i dont see denver wanting harris with lawson and billups…..

me personally i would like to keep everyone we have and go after melo as a free agent, (its not like we are winning the title this year)and i have a feeling that melo would join us based off the team we already put together, we have so much potential right now and melo is just gonna help bring it out of everybody

I disagree

I can’t understand how Farmar makes Harris expendable at all. If anything, he makes him more necessary, we can’t afford to lose him if we’re gonna be left with just a career back up at the PG (even tho TWill could play some spot minutes there, too). Just my opinion.
