Yormark Hoping Less is More at Barclays
The Nets are offering small suites ("Loft Suites") as well as large ones ("Jay-Z Suites") at Barclays Center in hopes of attracting mid to small sized companies to the suite market.
They're pursuing the same strategy with sponsorships, Brett Yormark tells Forbes.com. The Nets are trying for a mix of big names with smaller ones. While Barclays, IZOD and Haier are big international brands, a lot of the arena sponsors are in fact mid to small sized companies.

Mediation room hyperbol
Just today, Oder finds the truth about that so-called mediation room that was planned for that arena, and that it may not be what was expected.

I was planning on using it a litte later, Tal
fun stuff, but too much Brooklyn today.
150 square feet…enough room for all the saints on the Nets, with room left over.
awesome idea
someone send a line to Brett, let him know that we’re all coming, and it would be in his best interest to stock the NetsDaily suite with top shelf liquor

Crains just did a story on their suites
From that article (July 2010)
The suites—named Brownstones, Lofts and Studios—range from $215,000 to about $425,000 annually. They are seemingly a bargain when compared with luxury boxes at Yankee Stadium, the new Giants/Jets facility or Madison Square Garden, where new hospitality suites are reportedly priced as high as $1 million.
-Say man when I was growing up we wanted a Jacuzzi, we had to fart in the tub.
LOL nevermind...
what small business can afford that? we need 150 people to do 1,000 each…. whos in? for a Netsdaily suite?!?!
Ok ill start we just need 149,000 more!
Your $1000 is probably good only for 5 games max, LOL
You can’t obviously watch all home games for that.
You have to share the suite time with the other 149.

THIS. THIS BIG TIME.
Get Jay-Z to bring some women to visit us. I am fairly confident Beyonce has a few single friends.

I’d prefer to go straight to the man himself, Prokhorov, when it comes to furnishing that kind of entertainment.

Question for you Net Income
Will there be Jay-Z suites at the new arena? I have been looking all over the site but can’t seem to find the answer anywhere.
how about spike lee suites at MSG?
How about Beyonce suites?
George Muresan suites?
Yormark said
In a recent Forbes interview that they would be introduced in the coming months, but right now they are only on sale with their “Brownstone” and “Loft” product, as noted in my comments above.

There are suites at the Prudential Center, if that is what you are asking.
I was part of a group that once owned a suite there. Very good choice on our part. Had loads of fun at Hockey games, concerts, soccer games, and MMA events.

who said anything about the Pru Center?
-Say man when I was growing up we wanted a Jacuzzi, we had to fart in the tub.
he asked are there going to be Jay Z suites at the new arena
As the story suggests, there are clearly going to be “jay-z suites” at Barclays Center. So I figured he meant are there suites at Pru Center.
Consequences will never be the same.

I could care less about suites at ANY sports arena
I am a basketball fan – I was merely making mention to the fact that Net Income is obsessed with telling us about these unbelievable Jay-Z suites. Again, nobody cares – we don’t follow the business of the team unless they are runining the fan experience – which has been the case with this organization for the past 6 years and counting.
Suites are critical
There are reasons why old arenas without suites were abandoned(or being abandoned).
Teams make more money, and one of the ways to get guaranteed revenues. They only need to sell it once.
If teams make money, they are more inclined to spend it on better players.
Better players means more wins.
More wins, means more fans.
More fans, means more sales, ads, and business overall.
You definitely care if you’re a real fan.
Sigh.
"Beat the Heat!"
No they are not
Why do the rich need a special place at a game away from everyone else? What happened to the days where everyone sat by each other reguardless of levels of income? Making sports facilities playgrounds for the rich has actually made it more expensive for the common man to enjoy their game. Due to this, we now have sit almost nose bleed to watch a game, which forces some of us to just stay home and watch it on TV for better views. It’s like whatever the rich want, they get it so easily because of their connections, but the rest of us are always left behind red tape.
Thousands of fans from other cities will surely disagree
… regardless of sport and arena/stadium.
Sometimes, the nosebleed sections are where the fun is.
“What happened to the days where everyone sat by each other reguardless of levels of income?”
When did it happen in a tiered seating?
Since time in memoriam, premium seats are occupied by those who can afford it. It’s always been that way. You always sit next to someone who can afford the same seats, regardless of income. It’s a matter of willingness to pay for it.
"Beat the Heat!"
Tal's point well taken
the obnoxious amount of luxury suites at the newer arenas put the fans in the upper sections further and further away from the court/ice – and it has all but ruined going to NBA and NHL games for the average fan. Why pay upwards of 40 or 50 bucks for a seat in the sky when you can watch it in HD at home. Of course many people – like me would prefer to see a game live but not from so far away and at ridiculous prices due to these greedy pigs sitting in luxury suites named after poor excuses for rappers.
I never had a bad seat at the Meadowlands and had no problem with the fan experience I had there for two decades. I have sat upstairs in Newark and it was an awful seat both times – that promises to only get worse if the team moves into the Brooklyn arena with even more suites.
Then stay at home and watch the game
faNETicS hits the nail on the head – suites and sponsorships are constant revenue streams that teams need year round…it is guaranteed income.
To quote him, because I couldnt have said it better myself…

They are not like us
Those that sit in the luxury suites are not your average/regular fans. They don’t have to worry about missing any part of a game when getting food, because they have all in their suite or someone will deliver it to them. I woulnd’t be surprised if they ahd their bathrooms so they won’t have to wait in line like everyone else. They probably even have their own VIP Parking so that they can come anytime they want and still be able to park close by rather than walk a distance like the rest of us just for not being their early enough. Some of them don’t wait in the lines like the rest of us do. Overall, those in the suites are a whole world away from us who are actually enjoying the game.
