Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Schedule Highlights To Be Announced Tuesday

Who will help the Nets open the Prudential Center...and will they be among the teams playing on Christmas or Martin Luther King's birthday?  The NBA will reveal its opening week, Christmas and MLK Day schedules during an hour long NBA TV special Tuesday night at 7. The full schedule will be released Aug. 10.

Sports Business Journal says it's heard who will open the NBA's other new arena, Orlando's Amway Center.  "Looks like the Orlando Magic will play host to the Miami Heat on Oct. 28 in the first regular-season game at new Amway Center, a TNT broadcast", it reports.

Remember my prediction of Heat @ Cavs, Christmas Day

Stern lives for these ratings opportunities

Nets = Global
Knicks = Local

Celtics @ Heat is ny guess

Big 3 vs big 3 would draw more ratings

i don't think stern would shove that down Cleveland's throat on Christmas

plus it’s not a “peace on earth, good will toward men” kind of moment; he’ll be lucky to get out of Dodge

Heat – Lakers would be a huge draw.

agree

its gotta be lakers heat

Going for #28

by NJ Champ on Aug 2, 2010 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions

That seems most likely to me.

Or Heat vs Celtics
Or Celtics vs Lakers
Or Suns vs Lakers
and least likely, Suns vs Spurs. I remember (I think it was 3 years ago) the Suns vs Spurs Christmas matchup was OFF THE HOOK. Absolutely stellar game. Or I am losing my mind and that may have been the playoffs.

Consequences will never be the same.

Heat @ Cavs would be a ratings success

but

a)not really the type of game you’d want to watch on X-Mas day because the Cavs will probably get rolled

b)I have a feeling that the fan behavior in CLE when Lebron comes to town will be brutal. I wouldn’t doubt that some folks will throw things onto the court.

Stern will have BTK trial level security at that game, no worries.

Heat @ Cavs

Possibly the most interesting game in recent memory. I actually think I’d pay money to see it.

Consequences will never be the same.

you...

…just want to see if Lebron’s skull can withstand the force being struck with a battery or a hot coin being hurled from the nosebleeds

Exactly.

What a game that will be. Can anyone say Pacers Pistons Brawl 2.0???

Consequences will never be the same.

One at home, and the one at Nets … Nets win hands down.

Heat vs Thunder & Lakers vs Celtics

Book it.

Heat will be the most watched team. So you pair them with the team you want people to watch more.

Then you relive the Lakers vs. Celtics finals again. I can hear it now. Kobe and the Lakers meet Garnett and the Celtics since their epic 7 game series.

It would be smarter

for Stern to book LAL vs. MIA Christmas day.

Lebron James, D Wade, Kobe Bryant all on one stage.

It will probably be the highest rated Christmas day game in NBA history.

Dont forget Bosh vs. Gasol

That is going to be an awesome match up.

Consequences will never be the same.

Christmas Day

I have tons of better things to do than watch an NBA game on Christmas day … unless they’ll put a Nets game on national TV.

Knicks open in Toronto

which means the Nets will be at home on opening night.

Good

gives nets fans unfamiliar with the rock an immediate taste of what the rest of the season will look like in the PruCenter

Consequences will never be the same.
