Farmar's Gift to a Homeless Teen
Andre Brown was on the court at UCLA's Pauley Pavillion Monday, part of Jordan Farmar's Hoop Farm camp. He called it a dream.
For the 14-year-old, it was also a blessed change from living with six other family members in a single room at the Union Rescue Mission on LA's Skid Row. His family's plight, narrated by a younger brother, is featured on mission's website.
Farmar paid Andre's expenses (and others) through his personal foundation.

Meh
I prefer he learned how to play the game under Phil Jackson rather than Lawrence Frank. Even though Phil’s system isn’t PG focused, it’s the winning mentality and understanding of playing whatever role your team needs at a high level.
exactly
Coming from an environment that demands excellence, he will fit right in with the direction that we’re headed and hopefully, he can provide some leadership. Hopefully.

it’s not like passing on Farmar was a mistake. What has he done? Lakers didn’t even extend his QO.
Marcus was the right pick. We needed a PG, and he was considered the best PG in the draft. Even if the concerns about him ended up being proved right, with a pick in the 20s we had nothing to lose and it was worth the gamble, even if it didn’t work out.
What a Great Guy
He seems to do a lot of this stuff. Nice to see. I don’t know about him on the court, but off he seems to be as good as it gets. Maybe Devin will get him to help out with Harris’s group (also kids) around here.
The Nets have a tradition of community service and I hope it continues through management and the players.
Thanks Net Income,
For posting stories like this one. Even though though these type of stories don’t get too many comments, it is still important to post them.
Come to think of it, most of the post on NetsDaily are open to debate. A story like this, well there is simply nothing to debate about a player who is giving back to his community and the underprivileged. Farmar is making a difference in a young mans life not only for a day, but also for the future.
With all the negativity that is sometimes connected with sports figures in general, it is good to see that the Nets have so many good guys doing good things off the court. Hopefully, their good effort will continue onto the court and make for a very successful season. Go Nets!
great point
Harris is also big into giving back to the community. These topics are always the least replied to, but i always read them because they’re the most positive threads here. Good stuff.

They're important stories
I remember three years ago…within weeks, VC and RJ committed $5 million to a rehab center in Florida (VC) and a new training center in Arizona (RJ) and there was not one word written in any of the local papers. Iannazzone did a piece when the rehab center opened, but $5 million is a lot of cash and at the time nothing was written. Damn shame.
