Reversible Jerseys Promotion Back, But Reduced in Scale, Visibility
The biggest rift between the Nets' marketing department and hard-core fans last season was over the reversible jersey promotion. In return for purchasing a 10-game plan, you got five reversible jerseys: a Nets player on one side, a hated rival's on the other.
The Nets are offering that same 10-game package this season with only one reversible, a Devin Harris for Dwyane Wade switcheroo.
The Harris/Wade jersey was the most popular reversible year so the team ordered a small run to launch the 10 game package this year. There are no plans to use the reversible jerseys in any other promotion.

Screw you Yormark...
This is still the most disgusting, distasteful, sad marketing effort I have ever heard of.
Who wouldn’t want to punch someone in a reversible jersey?

BIG understatement.
friggin ridiculous and pathetic.
If we HAVE TO HAVE REVERSIBLE JERSIES, HOW ABOUT
doing past NBA legends of different teams? We can all look back and marvel at guys like Reggie Miller and Hakeem the Dream. It would be slightly less repulsive and just ridiculous enough to make Yormark happy.
I can’t believe we’re going to get to be a billion dollar enterprise with this crap.
Thats actually a fantastic idea!
Much much more palatable than having a reversible jersey of a current rival player!
Legends
I had a similar idea when the first set of toilet paper err…“reversible jerseys” was announced. My idea was to put a nets legend on the other side like dr. J, J Kidd, Super John Williamson, etc. Another idea would be to put one of the Nets finals teams on the other side. You could get J Kidd, Kittles, L Harris, K-Mart, or Collins

The "problem" with that idea
is that the marketing goal is to appeal to fans of other teams and to scuzzy frontrunners.
Also, that idea just makes too much sense for Yormark to possibly like.
I posted this yesterday in a thread
It’s really disgusting IMO. We are striving for respect and trying to change our image but we are still offering reversible jerseys from the team that got LeBron?? This is a huge fail job by Yormark ESPECIALLY to do it for the Miami game which would have EASILY sold out without any stupid promotion.
I’m actually going to call my ticket rep and see what the thinking was behind bringing this idiotic promotion back.
I would advise some of you
to voice your displeasure for this promotion by going on NJNets.com and submitting your thoughts via the “chat with a live rep” application on the site. If a representative isn’t available to take your question, you can submit a question/statement that will be read by someone within the Nets marketing office.

So sad i didnt get them last year. But there back this year. Limitied edition….YES!
"I want to win, I want the team to win and I'm in complete control."
-Coach Avery Johnson.
was on the set of "Just Wright" last August - the day this was announced
Sent a strongly worded email to Yormark expressing my opinion and because he was at Izod for the filming, I was invited over to discuss it with him in person. We both had our say; he was… extremely passionate; I stood my ground —which did little good. Later on I joined my son – who thought I’d been escorted off the set. Alas, no such luck. It was the longest, hottest 3 days of my life.
Come on guys...
It’s for the young casual fan. Let them enjoy it.
Ahhh Yormark
This guy will do anything for publicity, good or bad – it’s just publicity for him.
He’s a marketing guy, not a fan. This franchise is not basking in tradition obviously, and this is just another sign of the Nets going in a direction that is a departure from classic NBA.
In all fairness though, if the Nets were doing well and competing we would never have seen or heard of these jerseys. So, let’s wait and see how this season goes, then maybe they will go away.
Just stop this already
It makes no sense to have reversible jerseys with the other team on them. If there must be reversible jerseys of the Nets it should be the way they were originally done. By that, I am referring to the home colors on one side with the road colors on the other side. Those were the reversible jerseys that existed in my time.
@ Net Income re: "four (of five) of them have moved on"
I think you are wrong. The Harris-Wade reversible AND the Lopez-Howard reversible still should be active; the rest, defunct. I don’t know why they discontinued the Lopez-Howard jersey. Do you know why?
Nets = Global
Knicks = Local
I'm going to blame it on Lopez's mono
easy and ubiquitous excuse for the next six months…
Nets = Global
Knicks = Local
no, i dont know
but the only reversible pictured on the 10-game package is the Harris/Wade reversible.
This is insane. Ive actually seen someone wearing one of these. Just gross.
I think Paul G B’s idea is fantastic. if you are going to do reversible jerseys, having NBA legends on the other side would be really cool. You could do a 2010 HOF fame theme (Pippen, Malone, a few members of 92 dream team). Just for God’s sake please dont do current players.
Consequences will never be the same.
thanks, but i don't even think my idea is fantastic
just a helluva lot better that what they are doing now.
they
should have an AMARE and Favors one….
since favors compares his game to STAT….lmaoooooo. yeah right in his freakin dreams. dude has no offensive game and is comparing himself to amare…. please.
Im fine with you coming here to try and make valid arguments.
But when you come here to troll like that, especially when you’re wrong, that’s not appreciated. Troll at a site where people troll, not a sports website where people come to have knowledgeable conversations. Not cool.

i find
it interesting that favors compares himself to amare yet the fans on this website mostly compare him to howard, two extremley different players. hence, why i made the valid point…. not trolling.
well you didnt say that in your original post.
saying something like “lmaoooooo. yeah right in his freakin dreams. dude has no offensive game….” that’s not true.
You are making a joke out of it. If you knew anything about Favors (you make comments like you don’t) you would know that he needs time to develop. In three years there is no reason not to think he can’t be a legit PF on a contending team…especially with a coaching staff like ours. Hes a likely future all star. And the only reason people compare him to Dwight on here is because the Nets organization has made comments that his game is quite similar. He will bulk up and his game will increasingly get better… he will be better than Amare five years from now, possibly less, and I truly believe that and I am sure at least 90% of my fellow Nets fans agree. Especially when Amare’s knees blow up.

okay
i can see where u thought i was trolling. i apologize. but net income is constantly destroying the knicks, so whats fair is only fair.
from watching favors he has nothing special to his offensive game, but thats my take. imo he will be a bust, but thats my opinion.
amare won rookie of the year, lets see what favors does in his rookie year b4 we start comparing him to dwight howard or stat. that is just absurd imo.
I must say I do agree that we must wait and see what exactly derrick does this year
If it were not for Wall and Evans (maybe Cousins), I would honestly expect him to win ROY. And you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. The only reason I disagree with your take on Favors is because there has been absolutely no clause to believe he will be a bust, in fact thats what you hope, most likely, not what you truly believe.
Consequences will never be the same.

no
thats what i believe. i thought jordan hill was a bust too. i think cousins will be a beast, but that is my opinion. wall win win roy though. im thrilled about the knicks young core (Gallo, Randolph, Toney, will, etc.) if favors becomes a superstar like many of you believe then u have your 4 is set for a very very long time, if not the 3rd pick in the draft was a complete waste. i find it very interesting that a lot of people on this site were clamoring for cousins, now all of sudden its all love for derrick.
I have been bashed about it once before, and Im one of the few who still thinks
we should have picked Cousins. But Im just over it now. The pick has been made, and Im completely fine with it. I just think Cousins is the better player. I dont see Favors becoming a superstar, but a star. I think its different. The only reason I suggested that you dont actually think Favors will be a bust is because your loyalty gets in the way. I have seen plenty of Knicks fans make quite ridiculous statements because they are blinded by their allegiance to the Knicks, and they refuse to think with an open mind. They refuse to look at the big picture. But then again, maybe you are different.

no
that is not true. i am a realist.
i personally feel the anthony morrow signing was a steal, the murphy trade is a 100 out of 10, the signing of avery johnson was great, brook lopez is a stud, i love williams potential and i think they nets have a legitimate chance now with troy to fight for the 7th spot or 8th.
the one thing that the murphy trade can do negatively is if the nets say get the 9th spot which is extremley possible, just like the knicks, wizards, cavs, etc. could end up there then there pick would be considerably worse which i think is key for a team that needs to rebuild through the draft imo. also if they do make the playoffs and get eliminiated in the first round their pick wont be that great either than.
Well
Thats why you and I both pray for two guys named Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul.
Consequences will never be the same.
by NetsMets4Life on Aug 15, 2010 3:40 AM EDT up reply actions
you
can dream all you want for paul or melo but the reality is if either is traded it will cost you favors picks, etc.
since u think favors will be dwight howard would u trade dwight howard on a rookie contract for melo or paul…. interesting it seems like u would. paul has very serious knee isssues, yet u arent concerned with them?
the knicks on the other hand, this is simply my opinion based on carmelos desire to play for the knicks and his friendship with stat are the favorites to sign him via free agency if he lands there.
Oh Boy
Did you just mention Chris Pauls knee’s? Arent you one of those Knick fans that love the AMare signing? and you are talking about Knees?
BTW i dont think Nets would trade for Carmelo. IDK who would when he will be a 1/2 year rental, unlike the Knicks the Nets have the ability to build through the draft. That alone makes me happy that i am a Net and not a Knick fan (another reason is we dont have D’antoni as our coach)
by nwkiddnj on Aug 15, 2010 8:21 AM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
uh
i mentioned his knees because u and every other nets fan here are always mentioning amares, yet you want chris paul. the reality is u all would drool over the thought of stat and brook (best 4 and 5 combo in the game). you all are just frustrated that you overpaid for a bunch of roll players and like every article out there says you spent money to spend money.
how would carmelo be a half year rental. the team that trades for him will be able to offer the 3 years 65…. granted its iffy for the nets bc he still could bolt and take less money, but if the knicks want to gurantee themselves melo they could trade for him. with the new cba and a potential lockout and so on, carmelo anthony COULD stay put.
The first reason you are wrong
I never said i wanted CP3 (even though he is one of my FAV players to watch)
Second… please!!! Amare and Brook? lol thats all i have to say
Call your friends in the marketing dept. Income
And ask them what it will take to get “New Jersey” back on our uniforms and fan merchandise for those of us that actually want to have something to remember our team by.
Why are the Nets continuing to do this nonsense?
I don’t care if it’s one jersey
Market your own damn players.

This promotion is ridiculous!
As long as the Nets continue to market themselves as a second class organization, their going to continue to get treated like one when it comes time for big time names to sign as free agents, and whatnot..

exactly
Whoever the folks are from the Nets organization that lurk on this website, they need to understand that this promotion is classless, tacky, and it sends out a horrible message to the league
MARKET YOUR OWN PLAYERS.
If you are going to sell reversibles, make them reversible NETS jerseys that promote NET players.
Yormark needs to cut the crap

Most likely reason
These are most likely just uniforms left over from last year. The most popular one would have been Brook, it is likely gone. The other players are gone. Yormark might be trying to say the promo was successful, but then why was the rep asking me if I wanted my choice of one when I called in on a BOGO promo? Of course, I said “Not interested” which drew a chuckle.
On a related note, replica Yi jerseys are on sale at the Nets store for $14.95.
I think Yormark keeps his job for suckering the self-serving, perks serving empty suits at Barclays into a double the record naming contract. Otherwise, I can’t believe P would not make him part of the erase and replace program.

if they are left over...
…..they should be burned.
Everything from last year needs to be burned.

If you are a little kid
The idea of having 2 Jerseys in one is probably a great one.
If you don’t like the idea, then it obviously doesn’t appeal to you. But Youmark would not have done this again if he didn’t see it as somewhat successful last year.
