I'm not sure if this is me being a Nets fan and trying to make everything add up to us getting LeBron, but over the last few days a couple of things have happened and NOT happened to make me believe we have a solid shot at landing The King.
First, if you're LeBron and you're going to stay in Cleveland and you were going to announce your decision today (the day his Basketball Camp starts) WHY wouldn't you announce it today so all of the media could come and cover the announcement and make sure every showered him with love for staying and saving the city. BUT, now he isn't making the decision until AFTER the camp is over. Now, to me, announcing it after his FINAL appearance in Akron, he can say he is leaving because his basketball camp will be over, and he won't be set up to be in Cleveland for anything else after that. SO, I feel like he has narrowed it down to Chicago and the Nets.
Second, Dwayne Wade keeps making sure people know his decision isn't just about basketball and that his custody issue with his ex-wife is a factor. His kids will be living in Chicago. Now, imagine if he's in Miami, half the year is spent down there along with half the season spent on the road. How many days does that put him in Chicago all year to be with his kids??? I'm beginning to learn towards believing Wade ends up in Chicago. If you're Dwayne, you can play in your hometown with Rose Noah and a PF of your choice, Bosh/Boozer OR Miami with a PF of your choice Bosh/Boozer, some more money and NO ONE? SO, I think Wade and Bosh (hopefully boozer) goes to Chicago.
Also, after our day of meetings and the next there was that little spree of reports that meetings went well and that maybe he was leaning this way or the other, but after the Chicago/Cleveland day, it was pretty quiet, instead of ALL the speculation picking up that he's staying home or that he's leaning towards Chicago, it stayed pretty quiet. I thought this was a good sign for us since it was said after the first four presentation LeBron was most impressed with ours....
LeBron is NOT going to share a basketball with Wade and Rose, so I don't think LeBron and Wade go to Chicago, plus how pathetic would they look if they teamed up together in Chicago and couldn't even match MJ's six rings? How could LeBron ever be considered better than MJ if he plays in Chicago with Wade and can't win six rings?
FINALLY, LeBron and Jay-Z are good friends, we know this. But I have been thinking, if LeBron hits a point one of these days when narrowing down his choices that he is taking us off of his list, don't you think he would want to help Jay-Z out so the Nets don't get totally left in the dark and get no one? This way he can give Jay-Z a heads up and the Nets can start moving on Plan B a day or two before he announces he is staying with Cleveland or going to Chicago?
I don't know, maybe (like EVERY Knick fan in the world) I have entered into Fantasy Land, but I hope not.
ALSO, does anyone have ANY clue what our deal is with Humphries? When we left our meeting with LeBron we apparently had a deal in place with a Western Conference team, why aren't we pulling the trigger?
