In an interview with the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, Haddonfield's Brian Zoubek says the Nets weren't the only team that pursued him after he wasn't drafted on June 24. But by the next day, he had settled on them. "They showed a lot of interest," Zoubek said. "It's a really good situation." It didn't hurt that the Nets offered both Zoubek and Tulsa PG Ben Uzoh some guaranteed money in their minimum contracts. The 7'1" Zoubek, who won three state high school championships and one national college championship, sees himself as Brook Lopez's back-up.
