The New "New Jersey Nets", compared with Bucks of last season.

Hey, Nets fans, this is my first fan post, and I really have a thought to share with every one.

Milwaukee Bucks were the No.6 in the Eastern Conference, they didn't have All-stars, but they did well during the season.

And now I compare the New "NJNets" with the Bucks of last season.

First of all, they are similar. Andrew Bugut, Brandon Jennings were their two leaders last seasons, and the Nets have Brook Lopez, and Devin Harris.

Star-divide

The Bucks could make the playoffs, one of the biggest reasons is that they had many shooters in  Stackhouse, Delfino, Salmons, Ilyasova, and Ridnour.

Now the Nets have Outlaw, Morrow, James, Lee, and Farmar. Farmar(0.376 3pt%) shot from 3-pointer line better than RIdnour(0.357 3pt%). Both shooting squads are similar, but the Nets' are younger and more athletic.

Nets X-Facors:

Terrence Williams, Derrick Favors, Damion James, and Jordan Farmar.

If T-Will breaks out this season, Favors providing 8 points and 6 rebounds off the bench, James are really ready to contribute points off the bench, and Farmar can be a important role as a PG with the Nets, this team are gonna be better than last year's Bucks.

And don't forget about that we now do have experienced coaches, we have 2 COY in Avery Johnson, and Sam Mitchell. Mitchell helped Bosh a lot for developing, so Favors hopefully would accept that help from Sam.

So don't be surprised that the Nets can be very good next season while our captain Devin Harris is adding his muscle for avoiding getting injured.

This is our depth chart:

Brook Lopez / Johan Petro

Kris Humphries / Derrick Favors

Travis Outlaw / Damion James

Courtney Lee / Anthony Morrow / T-Will

Devin Harris / Jordan Farmar / T-Will (He can backup 1 and 2)

As a Nets Fan, I would only support this team, and say Go Nets !

Ive looked at it this way also

Its very possible, I except nets to make some moves at the deadline. If things arent working out Avery will push for Trades. I am excited. about this season

YUP...

It isnt so much as push for trades, its he will TRADE, he is basically running the show. Just doesnt have the official titles.

But you have to consider that Andrew Bogut is twice the defender Lopez is

Hopefully Avery has the same effect on our guys as Scott Skiles, Skiles imbibes his toughness and intensity to every team he coaches. Gonna take that kind of team defense to get us to where they were.

i like almost everything the nets are doing, except maybe the price on the outlaw signing, he could have definitely been grabbed up at 5 mill a season. and unfortunately the price of petro ( damn you Darko) . but other than those, the contracts for morrow and Farmar are steals, in drafting we realized we were going to be continually building and Favors was the best choice to help develop while we build a team, and Damion James was a complete steal now that i realize it. Add all of this on an already young core still developing, The nets are going to surprise a lot of people next year. One bad move would be trading TWill for anything short of all star potential.

This is a good fanpost

Thanks! Do you think the Nets will end up a seventh or an eighth seed?

Hard to imagine them finishing better than:

Heat
Bulls
Magic
Celtics
Hawks
Bucks

Nets = Global
Knicks = Local

This team won't be better than last year's Bucks

because Bogut and Jennings are both better than Lopez and Harris and this team still has no one capable of closing out a game.

No.

Lopez > Bogut, defensively and offensively.

Harris > Jennings.

Jennings was playing great early, but he was very poor, and played very limitedly.

A Healthy Harris equals to Derrick Rose.

Don’t dis your players by that ways.

Bogut is worlds better defensively

and is a better overall player as well.

No one in their right mind is going to want Harris over Jennings and a healthy Harris still isn’t half as good as Rose.

No way Lopez is better than Bogut defensively
On defense, it’s hard to overstate Bogut’s impact. Milwaukee is third in defensive efficiency and there’s no one more responsible than him. Dwyer called him a B+ Dwight Howard and Dwyer is pretty much right about everything all the time. Allow me to throw some stats at you: Andrew ranks 2nd in the league in blocks and 4th in charges taken. That’s INSANE – most prolific shot-blockers try to block almost everything that comes their way and most prolific charge-takers learn the skill to compensate for a lack of shot-blocking ability. Doing both as well as Bogut does makes you a defensive master. Last week, John Schuhmann rated him the 2nd-best defensive center in the league and pointed out that, at the time of writing, the Bucks were was a full six points per 100 possessions better on defense with him on the floor. If you watch the games, it’s easy to see why. There are few big men who are able to cover as much ground as he does. His long arms and his quick feet enable him to protect the basket at a very high level and guard multiple defenders at once. He shows on screens, he guards the big guys that drift to the perimeter, and he plays terrific, tough post defense. You can’t ask for more from your center.

No one would trade Jennings for Nash at this time,

but that doesn’t mean Nash is worse than Jennings now.

Jennings is just very young, and he can just be developed well.

who can Close out a game

Terrence Williams
Brook Lopez
Devin Harris
Travis Outlaw.

If only we had a clue....

A nickname or something, that would tell us that they were good at closing out games… Something like “Mr. Fourth Quarter”… I don’t know, just thinking out loud…

One thing i would like to add

The Bucks, were successful because of Jennings play and Bogut’s consistency. But remember guys, Bogut suffered a horrific injury last season. Will he be ready by training camp? Start of the season? And if he is, will be back to form? He broke his wrist, fractured his hand, and dislocated his elbow, all on the same arm. That has to take some time to heal.

by danxcr on Jul 24, 2010 2:30 PM EDT reply actions

Ya jennings consistently shot under 40 percent, and he consistently played bad defense.

by Sparklespice on Jul 24, 2010 4:12 PM EDT up reply actions

They had no coach last season

and no scouts..etc

That’s not a good environment for young players.

They will only be much better than last season.

Bucks v Nets

The Bucks were a better team than the Nets last year and have markedly improved their team this year. The Nets haven’t. Guess we will just have to wait until the two teams faceoff…Yes, yes!!!

We could be a disaster at PF

This is the biggest hole in our roster. If THE HUMPH can’t learn when to shoot, and how to make a layup, and Favors plays like a 19 year old, it will hurt Brook and we will look stupid playing against teams with a legit 4. I am very worried about this, I think our other 4 spots are well covered, and have a good upside and limited downside. But at PF, G-d only knows what will happen. But I pray three times a day, so if HE/SHE gives me a sign, I will let you folks know……
