Deadlines and Commitments - X

We're going to assume that Brook Lopez makes Team USA.  With Yi Jianlian gone and Johan Petro not participating in the FIBA World Championships, Lopez will be the only Net playing competitively between now and the start of training camp...two months down the road.  There will be a lot of basketball being played between now and then, however, most of it overseas.

Star-divide

July 24 - 2010 USA Basketball Showcase - Team USA intra-squad game, Las Vegas, 10 p.m. ET, ESPN2

August 12-15 - World Basketball Festival at various locations in New York City.  The National Teams of USA, China, Brazil, France and Puerto Rico will participate with USA and France squaring off in a Garden exhibition game on August 15. 1 p.m. ET, ESPN2

August 21 - Team USA Exhibition vs. Lithuania, Madrid, 3 p.m. ET, NBA TV

August 22 - Team USA Exhibition vs. Spain, Madrid, 3 p.m. ET, NBA TV

August 25 - Team USA Exhibition vs. Greece, Athens, 12 noon ET, ESPN

August 28-September 12 - FIBA World Championships in Turkey, opening game vs. Croatia.

September 24 - Nets Training Camp opens in East Rutherford.

October 3 - First Preseason Game, Nets vs. Maccabi Haifa of the Israel Super League.  7 p.m., Prudential Center, Newark

Somewhere around that first preseason game, the Nets will head to Beijing and Guangzhou for exhibition games against the Rockets.  Expect a big opening night at "The Rock".  The NBA schedule makers like to christen new arenas with big match-ups.  The Nets are also likely to play two regular season games in London.

Wait a second...

2 REGULAR season games in London? When did that happen? Did I miss something?

It’s all part of Mikhails globalization of the Nets.
We’re out to conquer the world!

I think Brook is coming Home...

Maybe his skillset doesn’t translate internationally.

The NETS are coming!

not quick enough maybe

Didn’t hear anything positive about Tyson Chandler or McGee either.
Maybe they think this is an opportunity to try playing unconventional with no center.

Why they still have to go and play in China?

Scrap the Nets on the schedule and replace them with the Wizards or the Warriors!

because there are many Nets fans there

even before Yi joined the team, there was great interest in China. This site was translated DAILY.

I don't see it!

Idk if playing for this team will get brook respect around the league. Also will this improve his game? I dnt think so just go through the training and come back home.

Brook has respect around the league

it’s just the media and casual fans who haven’t seen him play

This bothers me

In the wake of Chris Paul all the sudden making himself available, it bothers me that the nets are simple sitting by twiddling their thumbs. I was expecting to see some big post this morning spit how avery and king were going to try to get involved, but apparently not. I think Lopez playing international basketball is going to get his name up and help with his development. I look forward to seeing him turn in an all star next year. And two regular season games in London?? We are definitely setting up a stage to be globally marketed. We better win both those game lol

The Nets.....

I feel… Are going into the season with what we have basically, I don’t feel they are looking for a “big move” just yet ( that actually makes me happy) let’s see what we got before we start throwing pieces out

Paul has a list of teams

and also, we cannot try to bait Paul into coming here because that is tampering. I’m sure that there has been some backdoor tampering going on with Anthony and Paul as well, but whatever, this is how Stern wants to run his league.

+1

Plus teams that are going to trade for Paul has to take Okafor also with him and we are still not sure if Paul is healthy.

"We're going to be wearing a bullseye. But that's what you play for," Wade said. "We enjoy the bullseye. Plus, there's going to be times when we lose 2-3 games in a row, and it seems like the world has crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade is coming down again, but it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games."

If he is healthy

is he good enough to pull off what Jason Kidd did and turn the team around?

by Dan Secor on Jul 23, 2010 7:44 AM EDT up reply actions

Yes

He made Tyson Chandler an All star. Hes that good. Of course it all depends what we give up as well. But him and Lopez would be a great combo.

Could we NOT make every single thread be about CP3???

Any word on what day the USA team will be playing their scrimmage in Times Square?
