Arena Construction Picks Up

New Jersey Nets

The latest construction update, complaints from local residents and even a recent image from space point show  Barclays Center slowly taking form in Brooklyn. The arena needs to be completed in July 2012 to be ready for the 2012-13 season.

With concrete footings already being poured at the western edge of the arena excavation, construction crews are now getting ready to do the same on the eastern edge.  Several bulldings, including Daniel Goldstein's former condominimum need to be demolished at the arena's southern edge before construction can begin there.  That's not expected til fall. Also, construction truck activity has caused locals to complain about traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, the latest Google Image of the area (zoom in on "A") shows the excavation and foundation work in the arena footprint.
