Brothers Lopez Begin Team USA Journey Monday in Las Vegas
Not one member of the gold medal-winning Olympic team will play for the United States next month in the World Championships, leaving things wide open for the next generation of American stars, including Brook Lopez...and his twin brother Robin.
The two will be among 21 hopefuls who'll try out starting Monday in Las Vegas. They'll be competing for 12 slots on Team USA, which will play in the World Championships in Turkey. Team USA opens against Croatia on August 28 in Istanbul.
With Dwight Howard foregoing the Worlds and Kendrick Perkins recovering from knee surgery, USA Basketball added two big men this week, Brook's brother Robin and the Mavericks' Tyson Chandler.
The team is expected to carry two centers. Prior to the Worlds, Team USA will participate in the World Basketball Festival in New York August 9-16. USA will play an exhibition game against France on August 15. Johan Petro will not play for France.

So then would Brook have to play PF, like in college?
I agree, and was calling for Nets to go after Robin a year ago, when his value was low.
However when it was even hinted that Brook could play a little PF, alongside DeMarcus Cousins, Hell NO was the answer. If Brook could play some PF, then Cousins would have been the pick, and the Nets would be in great shape today, expected to make the playoffs.

COUSINS COUSINS COUSINS!
Cousins? CoUSins…
COUSINS!?!

I realize that you are a huge Nets fanatic, but I think that post would have apprpriately ended with “IMO”.

I've also heard that Cousins' attitude has been absolutely horrible during summer league
I’m fine with the kid that we drafted. The Kings forum is over that way >>>>>>>>>

btw
I’m sort of worried here about TEAM USA, if none of the heavy hitters are playing there’s a good chance that we may lose in the World Championships.

It is the same in some other places too
Pau is not playing for Spain, for example.
Hedo had gall bladder surgery yesterday. Not sure how he can play for Turkey.
They were saying that Hedo would only need a few days off, but maybe not.
I thought it was just gallstones, not removal of his gall bladder.
I don’t think USA has to worry about Turkey.
ah, good looks on the info

Maybe losing would be the best thing, for winning in 2012.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t expect the Big Three of Miami, and especially LeBRON to participate in 2012. It would be “beneath them”
.
.
I AM THE KING AND IT IS SIMPLY BENEATH ME TO PLAY FOR TEAM USA IN 2012. I ONLY CARE ABOUT MYSELF.

It appears I have put on a little weight since I made my decision to play for Miami, but then I am the King. You are all my servants.
regardless of who they play for, lets not wish for bad things to happen to players.

It could be good for the future of the NBA if a lesson was taught, on how risky it is to "blow up" a team for hope of getting a free agent.
Pat Riley came pretty close to having the potentially worst, instead of best team in NBA.
DWade’s divorce (and possible signing with Chicago), almost changed everything.
And we shouldn’t want 2-3 players to conspire to make a dynasty team, and get away with it.
good conditioning and experience for lopez to get him back into season
lets hope he stays healthy
any news on Brook's weight?

Do they
telecast the final scrimmage/game on NBA TV on next Saturday?
I’m little worried about Brook this year. Guy played back to back 82 games last two years so I’m worried especially with his illness and lost weight…..
BTW, I saw a little bit of Sac game in Summer League and I see why people are talking about Cousin’s attitude. Something I notices while watching SL, maybe not a big deal but something like every NBA player do but something Cousins failed to do number of times. Whenever a teammate goes to foul line and make or miss, other players pat they guy on the back or give some encouragement. Cousins was not interested it it. This was in the 1st Q so it cannot be fatigue. Nothing big but ………..
The Top Priority.....
For the Nets this summer and believe me you there are plenty………is…..Brook Lopez starting the season in the best physical condition that he has ever been in…..Quickness , Endurance and Mental Toughness…C’Mon Popeye…..I want Brook’s new nickname to be BLUTO………..
Both Lopez twins should play...domination

Was Kevin Durant on the Olympic team or the runner ups team? He’ll be unstopable.
