Big Russian Disses Big Russian
The Knicks' signing of Timofey Mozgov seems reminiscent of a Cold War spy caper with Donnie Walsh admitting to hiding the seven footer from Mikhail Prokhorov, working him out secretly in Greenburgh, N.Y.
Now, Mozgov (who Rod Thorn says "wasn't on our radar") disses his countryman in giving his reasons for choosing the Knicks, "I did not focus on the Nets because the Nets would take longer to rebuild. I liked Mike D’Antoni’s system better than the Nets."

Knicks are a joke period!
Why not give Favors and the 7 foot Russian 2 years in the league? Your basing comment on Favors base on what? For All we know the 7 foot Russian that you have might be out of NBA in 2 years.

Favors may not be as good as Cousins, but he still will be better than Amare will be (if not injured) in about 3 years.
Your Knicks won’t even make the playoffs for this year and probably not for another 5 years.
The Knicks 5 year plan is NO PLAYOFFS
Go Jerry!
Give it to that Guy lol! Are you with us with Favors now? :)

I surely don't think Favors will be a bust and might become a cross between Howard and Amare after a few years.
However, Cousins still would be much better for next few years, and he clearly is quick enough to play the Four, while backing up at Five, as needed (Cousins will be a Four for Kings).
Favors may have a longer career, but the Nets would be in much better shape at present if they had Cousins. Would be sure playoff team. Someone like Victor K, would be enough to finish off roster, if they had Cousins now.

I think these teams are fairly evenly matched right now, especially if the Nets add a power forward of fringe starter ability. The knicks will continue to make no commitment to defense whatsoever, and they still have a system that encourages the worst guys to take as many shots as the best guys

Can someone please do a calculation of the Knicks cap space, assuming everyone is signed up?
Hoops-Hype figures are added wrong but here is a good starting point:
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/new_york.htm
I add salary to be about 27 million + 8 million for Felton and 17 million for Amare to be over 52 million already?
Knicks still have to add more bodies and will over the Cap without a playoff team IMO.
Knicks suck and other than Curry’s 11 million coming off books, have no chance to get better without draft picks.
i dont think they calculated in the contracts taken back from the trade of david lee, you’re right it is about 28 mill, but that could all come off the books next season, and they would be have only amare and felton and turiaf if he chooses his player option
No, I don't think Knicks will end up having much cap space in 2011 other than Curry coming off books. They would have to make a conscience effort to create more cap space.
If Knicks don’t appear to be making playoffs (not likely), they will be in a lose-lose situation.
Nets were of course aware of Mozgov, but chose Petro, because he fits in better with Avery's athletic running team.
Petro is proven in NBA to have talent, but needs the motivation by Avery to have winning and 100% effort play.
However to say that Knicks are further along in rebuilding? What is Mozgov’s agent drinking?
Knicks have no rebuilding plan in place. In fact they may have to “tear down” the team again next year, after they realize they won’t make the playoffs, but are still praying for a top player to play with Amare.
nets could go after alexey shved, good young point guard, who can be a nice addition to our back court, i kind of wish the nets did have this guy on radar and grabbed him up, he seems to be a very big body, and has a good bbiq
Doesn’t Shved play for CKSA Moscow? It’s going to be interesting. From what I’ve seen of Shved, he’s got a nice jumper bit nowhere near an NBA body. I think he’s a few years away.

we should have picked up an extra 2nd rd pick and STASHED him
I like what I have read about him. Shame. Maybe we can just sign him outright when he’s ready

All the stuff he said about rebuilding is bs
He just wants to play in a system here he gets minutes and where he will not be punished for jacking up half court shots with 20 second on the clock.. Hmmm.. Play behind lopez or curry, this is hard.

It's not surprising
that he wants to play in D’Antoni’s system. Not only is it the most player-friendly/free/loose/fun/responsibility-free out of all the systems out there, but it will also do a nice job of inflating his stats.
With that said, the shot at the Nets was a little much; I agree.
"4 inches, baby!" --ripped off from Kush
Thank God we didn't take him...Mozgov obviouly has no clue about basketball...Knicks will rebuild faster? :)
Even if it is true…it will only be for maybe 2 seasons at most then STAT will start to slow down and his contract untradeable then rebuilding will stall and Knicks mediocre while Nets overtake them with their young core going into their prime…
wait
who is this guy ?? is he nice ?? like who cares ??
the way he’s talking … he better get like 25+ minutes a night…
what a joke

Knicks brainwashed him
Obviously, the Knicks might have said bad things about us. He might be used to being brainwashed you know.
Exactly my thoughts. From the looks of it, this guy will maybe average 5 points a game.

he's right the system is better for him
Don’t know anything about this guy but from Youtube clips he looks slight of build.
Hope he does well in the league.
This guy has some guts
Maybe he wants to wake up tomorrow with his left foot and left hand missing, or better yet, find himself in severe pain and distress, blowing radioactive chunks in a toilet bowl due to isotopes being slipped into his dinner the night before?
It’s best that he doesn’t involve himself. Don’t talk trash to people who have enough money to make it look like a suicide
