Deadlines and Commitments - VII
It should be a busy week for both Draft preps and coaching search. There'll be individual workouts on Tuesday. Again, the candidates are likely competing for the #27 and #31 spots. On Wednesday, 36 prospects and reps from 18 teams will gather in East Rutherford for the second group workout. Later in the week, expect more individual workouts, perhaps with those players hoping to go at #3. We might be hearing from Terrence Williams this week. His "School of Flight" summer camp starts Monday in Louisville. Presumably, Rod Thorn will be busy talking to coaching candidates this week...although he's not likely to say.
June 5-7 - Adidas Eurocamp. Although this is not seen as a big year for Europeans players, the best will gather in Treviso, just outside Venice, for the international version of the Pre-Draft combine.
June 7-10 - Twill's "School of Flight" Summer Basketball Camp in Louisville, KY.
June 8 - Workouts for PG Mikhail Torrance (Alabama), PG Anthony Johnson (Montana), SF Quincy Pondexter (Washington), SG Terrico White (Mississippi), PF Laurence Ekperigin (LeMoyne), C Artsiom Parakhouski (Radford out of Belarus).
June 9-11 - Eighteen NBA teams gather at the Nets' practice facility in East Rutherford for a group workout. A total of 36 draft prospects will be on hand.
June 14 - International Draft Early Entry Entrant Withdrawal Deadline (5:00 p.m. ET)
June 24 – The Nets pick at #3, #27 and #31 in the 2010 NBA Draft in the Theatre at Madison Square Garden, New York (7:00 p.m. ET). Nets' $1.37 million trade exception, the remainder of the Vince Carter trade exception, expires.
June 29-30 -- Nets must exercise team options for Keyon Dooling ($3.82 million with a $500,000 buyout) and Chris Douglas-Roberts ($854,389). Kris Humphries must exercise his player option ($3.2 million). Contracts for Rod Thorn and Kiki Vandeweghe as well as the rest of the Nets' coaching staff expire. Of front office and coaching staffs, only Bobby Marks, Thorn's VP of basketball operations, has a contract beyond June 30.
June 30 - Deadline for last two businesses to leave the larger Atlantic Yards footprint. One of the buildings in question will be used as office space for construction operations.
July 1 - NBA teams can begin negotiating with free agents. Expect reports of signings almost immediately. Nets can renounce cap holds for players with expiring contracts.
July 5?-8? - No announcement has been made, but these are the normal dates for the Orlando Magic Summer League.
July 8 - NBA teams can officially begin signing free agents.
July 19-24 - Team USA training camp in Las Vegas. Brook Lopez one of 31 players invited.

Terrence should work as hard as Kobe this summer
We will have no Wall, Turner.
Terrence should work hard to be a 22-7-5 guy next season.
CDR should join him.
Both should watch how Kobe doesn’t play hard for only a month or two during the season.
Watch how Kobe plays both sides of the ball.
Watch how Kobe still also plays…without the ball.
They wont be as good as Kobe, but they can train/practice/play with the same work ethic.

So CDR...
…can only play for LFrank? If a guy can play, he can play. CDR only played well when we were stacked with injuries and he was called upon to take the ball and score. Which was only about a month or so. Otherwise, he was very poor. 6 weeks an NBA season is not.
Looked uninterested when he didn’t have the ball in his hands. Basically stood around hoping to get the ball back.

He was averaging 17+ ppg until Kiki got here and screw his production. TWill had just 2 good months, so what? Had Lee more than just 2 good months?
How about CDR’s performance towards then of the 2008-09 season, when he left his injuries behind, he did great, averaging almost 13ppg in games he was given 20+ minutes.
Bottom line is CDR has produced when he has been given a fair shot by an actual coach, like Cal or Frank, both of whom have endorsed him publicly during this past season when he was struggling bc of Kiki. Do you really wanna throw CDR under the bus based on what we saw from him under a guy who isn’t even a coach and who had an agenda?
Realistic Twill goals
I would be very happy with averages of 10-5-5 in 25 minutes next season with a steal and >70% FTs. He shouldn’t be focused on scoring as much as creating and improving his d to become a disruptive force/game changer off the bench. This assumes that we have someone who can keep him off the court for 23 minutes a game. Beside Kiki.
So you're saying that
All TWill has to do is improve his assist numbers? He did average 8½ points, 4½ rebounds and 3 assists! He also shot almost 72% from the stripe! And if you think about it, in 20 of his 78 games played last season, he played 15 mins or less, with a lot of 3-6 minute games. Those short stints kill your averages. That’s why i think the averages you posted should not be considered real improvements.
And so said the old man!
To Jabez.
So, just for kicks, who do you think is a better player? Twill or CLee? Should Twill play 25 mins a game, how many minutes do you think CLee should get next season?
And so said the old man!
NETS' 1.37M Trade Exception
that expires on Draft day.
I’m curious how Rod will use this.
Or will he let it expire?
