Summer League Invitations Go Out to Chism, Zoubek, Uzoh, Carter
The Orlando Summer League, officially the AirTran Airways Pro Summer League starts in 10 days with a 1 p.m. game featuring the #2 and #3 picks in the drafts--the 76ers with Evan Turner vs. the Nets with Derrick Favors. On Wednesday, the team will open practice in New Jersey before flying to Florida.
In addition to Favors, the Nets' second pick, Texas' 6'8" SF/PF Damion Jones, is expected to be on hand, as well as Terrence Williams. It's doubtful any of the other young Nets will on hand, so invitations are going out to players, some of whom are players not selected in Thursday's draft.
Wayne Chism, Tennessee's 6'9" PF, agreed to join the Nets team at around 1 a.m. Friday. Chism had a private workout with the Nets on Thursday, according to the Knoxville News-Sentinel, and was offered the invitation at the end of it. A senior, he averaged 12.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg, and 1.3 bpg for Tennessee, shooting 32.4% from deep.
Brian Zoubek, the 7'1" Duke center and New Jersey native, will also be on the roster in Orlando, according to Jonathan Givony. Givony also reports the Ben Uzoh, Tulsa's 6'3" PG/SG, has agreed to play for New Jersey in the summer league. Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside adds that Tweety Carter, a 5'11" PG out of Baylor, is also on the Nets roster.

I would like to see us ink Jon Scheyer and Sherron Collins as well.
Wesley Matthews clearly proved that just because you are not drafted does not mean that you can’t be a productive NBA player for the right team/situation….
Reliable outside shooter off the bench. True backup PG……2 areas of need for the Nets.

Who didnt get drafted
Brian Zoubek, Samardo Samuels, Alexey Shved, Jeremy Wise, Mikhail Torrance, Sylven Landesberg, Manny Harris, Artsiom Parakhouski, Miroslav Raduljica, Aubrey Coleman, Matt Bouldin, Ben Uzoh, A.J. Ogilvy, Marqus Blakely, Stefan Markovic, Jon Scheyer, Tyler Smith, Thomas Heurtel, Jeremy Lin, Jerome Randle, Miroslav Raduljica, Sherron Collins, Ryan Thompson, A.J. Slaughter, Omar Samhan, Kevin Palmer, Tommy Mason-Griffin, Scottie Reynolds, Wayne Chism, Charles Garcia, Edwin Ubiles, Deon Thompson, Ludovic Vaty, Tyren Johnson, Vladimir Dasic, Elijah Millsap,
Alexey Shved didn’t get drafted because he wanted to go the free agent route and told teams that. He can control where he plays next year, apparently.
Point guard
Nets def need a true backup PG given how injury prone DH is. Hope they talk to Torrance.
Ah, i didn't know that about the russian's demands...
….nevermind my post below about trying to stash him.

if the nets pick up Alexey Shved and bring him over, ill understand this draft and why they didnt go with more 2nd rounders
This is why I am bit pissed at the way the CDR deal was handled...
…we could have used one of Milwaukee’s picks to grab the russian kid and stash him so we don’t add salary. Dumb move IMO.

nevermind this post, just read NI's explanation

why do you think the Bucks would be willing to give something up
CDR is exactly a great value if the only thing he brings back is a second round pick two years hence.
yes, you don't like the guy, we understood that since last year when you trashed him constantly
But I think that he could have definitely netted us one of Milwaukee’s 2nd rders this year, but it is what it is, I think the Nets just agreed to anything to get the deal done and him off of the roster.
You guys are letting your irrational hatred for a freaking kid go so far that you’d really think his value was a 2nd rd pick in 2012? Lets be honest here. Even demens, who hates CDR to death, even balked at the fact that we got nothing in return. Cutting your nose off to spite your face is not good, any way you put it.

and if he has a productive season in Milwaukee...
…The Nets, and those who thought that trading him for air is great because you didn’t like what he was writing on twitter, will look absolutely stupid for not trying to get value in return now especially since there were some pieces to be had in the 2nd round.
But have it your way.

Exactly, MrDB
Don’t forget the Bucks gave away one of their 2nd rounders to the Knicks. But yeah, they wouldn’t have wanted to give up on it for CDR. Come on NI.
I always liked Chism when I saw him play at Tenn...
Also, ND, you made a mistake on the post You said he shot 32.4%, thats what he shot from 3. He shot 46.6 from the field
But how many PFs do we have
Favors, Hump, Yi, and James can contribute minutes. Needs are elsewhere.
I love Jerome Randle's game
Love the heart and the flash. Should be at least 3-4 PG’s in this summer Torrance and Matt Bouldin included as well
The NETS are coming!
Sherron Collins And Matt Bouldin
Both good PG’s I hope the Nets look at them
Sherron is a first round talent. HIs size made him a second rounder. His conditioning made him go undrafted. He should be the target in free agency at the PG position.
And signing Jon Scheyer would make a lot of sense. Good character guy. Great shooter. High basketball IQ. Could hit the open jumper and help space the floor. Seems too logical a choice to me.
I like the way you think Ryan243
Collins is small in stature, but who better than our “Little General” to bring out his full potential.
Scheyer is a good shooter who came from a very disciplined program at Duke.
Both these guys know what it takes to win and need to be considered.
Cant wait to see
PG= Twill
SF= D. James
PF= Chism
PF= Favors
I hope the televise all these summer games.
