Stay connected for news and updates

The Nets surprised late in the first round, trading with the Atlanta Hawks to acquire Texas 6'8" SF/PF Damion James. James, a senior who was picked at #24 by Atlanta, is known as a tough player who's capable of spending  time in the post as well as on the perimeter. James averaged a double-double for the Longhorns, 18.3 and 10.3, while shooting 38.3% from the perimeter. The Nets sent Atlanta both their two late picks, the #27 and #31. Atlantta used the picks to take Jordan Crawford of Xavier and Tibor Pleiss of Germany.  The Hawks then sold Pleiss' rights to the Thunder.
