Lopez Recovering From Mono As Team Looks for a Companion

Stay connected for news and updates

Brook Lopez sent most of early May in bed with mononucleosis, dropping nearly 30 pounds.

"Isn’t that embarrassing? But I feel fine now," said the Nets center who has played in every game in his two years in the league.  Lopez is down to 240 pounds and plans on working out with his brother Robin in Phoenix to rebuild his strength and conditioning.

The illness was serious enough to prevent Brook from attending any of the Suns-Lakers series, where Robin was a critical player for Phoenix.

Meanwhile, who plays best next to Lopez is the big factor in determining whether the Nets take Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins at #3 next week.  Right now, that favors Favors.
