The word is that Detroit really wants DeMarcus Cousins and is shopping Tayshaun Prince to make it happen. The Pistons have reportedly reached out to the Sacramento Kings (presumably proposing Prince and their #7 pick for the Kings' #5 and Nocioni). The Pistons also allegedly have been calling the Nets, since Cousins might not last to #5 - whereas Cousins will definitely be there at #3.
How about accepting the Pistons offer? The Nets get Tayshaun Prince and the #7 pick (maybe Xavier Henry or Wes Johnson, if he drops). Then target Amar'e or David Lee for the PF in free agency. That would be a very attractive squad for LeBron to mull over.
Devin Harris - PG
Xavier Henry or Wes Johnson - SG
Tayshaun Prince - SF
Amar'e or David Lee - PF
Brook Lopez - C
With LeBron, you could slide Prince to SG and have the rookie SG come off the bench. For salary sake you might have to take David Lee instead of Amar'e though. Still, that would be a very big starting lineup. And a heckuva deep bench. Courtney Lee, TWill, Xavier Henry (or Wes Johnson), Hump, Yi, CDR, Hayes. Then with the 27th and 31st pick, acquire the best available backup PG and backup C. Or another scorer.
What makes it appealing is that Prince is an excellent defender and rebounder. Which would fit Avery's style. With LeBron, this team would be an instant title contender. Without LeBron, it's still a very good team.
