Avery Johnson meets with Prokhorov on Sunday at the NBA Finals and is introduced at a Tuesday press conference. Then, both DeMarcus Cousins and Wesley Johnson will be in for individual workouts and interviews. There will be other players working out as well for the #27 and #31 spots and summer league invitations.

not so sure about that
I think Cousins’ big moment will be when he steps on that scale next Thursday.
LOL
Yeah i agree with you there…
Oh well i really like cousins but something tells me nets like favors more…both are good prospects and hopefully we make the right pick
Nets aren't one person, although Thorn will make the final decision. Thorn's slow inability to find the truth with Avery, has me worried. On June30, he may realize he should have drafted Cousins.
There are also 2 people of significance (besides the Director of Player Personnel who has followed Cousins from his Alabama home) who will be meeting on Sunday evening at the Boston game.
I hope Avery and Proky have a conversation about Cousins. I’m sure they can motivate him.
"big" indeed
I see what you did there

I would say it is 50-50, and Cousins discipline will be the decider. Wish we had a progress report from someone familiar with how his training is coming along.
I am still waiting for a better Highlight film of Favors. Haven’t yet seen one to convince me he will be an above average starting PF in NBA.
Kevin Pritchard is also
at the complex for a couple days scouting players for the draft.
Perfect timing? Let’s hope so.
KP
Would love for us to hire Pritchard to replace Kiki
Hump can't be traded in July, Yi can.
Thorn may have been negotiating an extension for Hump, with a smaller amount for 2010.
Most likely Nets won’t need the cap space. Their current, almost 28 million should be enough.
What a game Big Baby Davis is having….great footwork, a soft touch, passion and intensity can make up for a lack of elite athleticsm….still think Thorn wants to select Cousins…only concern is the weight.
Cousins is going to be way better than Big Baby. He is much longer, is a vastly superior rebounder, and he is much more productive. Its not even close. I just mentioned Big Baby because they do share certain characteristics…excellent footwork, tenacity, bulk, etc.
The one intangible we tend to overlook is the meanness, toughness and the passion that Cousins showed. We need that badly.
+1 (I thought you were for Favors)
I am hoping that Thorn will “see the light” too, even if he means that DLee won’t be needed by the Nets.
Damn, I knew we should have signed Big Baby when he was a free agent. How about Nate! He might not be starter material, but, he is great as the backup pg.
LETS GO NETS!
Nets offered the Knicks
Cassell and Battie for Milicic and Robinson. They declined.
The Nets wanted to offer Big Baby a contract last summer, but the Celtics indicated they would match and Ratner wouldnt give Thorn permission to up the ante.
Of course, instead of taking Sean WIlliams as #17, the Nets could have taken Davis, particularly since he said publicly he wanted to play for New Jersey.
silly weight issue
Thorn was put off by Big Baby’s supposed weight issue.
Sound familiar? Thorn and others are now concerned about Cousins’s weight issue.
hmmm... good example...
we should take Cousins’ weight too seriously, maybe it will cost us again another suitable big man.

Sean Williams – Derrick Favors – very athletic, and row
Glen Davis – DeMarcus Cousins – not very athletic, but skilled … has weight issues .. LOL

I hope we restructure Humphries contract to keep him on for years to come. A perfect backup moose at the pf.
LETS GO NETS!
big baby and nate boosted Celtics to win over Lakers in game 4

Big Baby = fatter and shorter and older Cousins
Big Baby has been FAT for 3 years but his game and maturity keeps improving.
Conclusion:
Draft Cousins
The Lakers are toast
if Bynum can’t stay on the court and be effective cuz he’s hurt. Odom is being abused by Big Baby and Wallace gives Gasol fits. Watching this series I am torn as to who to draft. Forget Odom, he can’t defend any Celtic big. But watching Bynum, Perkins, Big Baby, Wallace and KG is interesting. It appears to me that when Bynum is healthy his length gives Perkins trouble. KG v. Gasol is a wash. So imo the Lakers have the edge up front when Bynum is healthy but when they go to the bench it changes. Wallace might be the best defensive big in the series but he is foul prone. If Cousins strength is so dominating that the little athleticism that he might have makes him a defensive force on top of his offensive abilities he could be the pick. But if he is lazy that could lead to foul trouble like Wallace. OTOH Favors plays above the rim and if he could be as good as KG on D assuming is he has above average strength, he has to be the pick. His raw offensive skills should not be a factor if Lopez is our primary offensive big. Both the Lakers and Celtics do well with limited offense from Perkins and Bynum. However, what you see in this series is while the Lakers have the edge imo up front as starters they are thin and the injury to Bynum could mean the difference. So for the Nets if we get a big at #3 we still need another big similar to Wallace which will not be easy to get. There is no FA other than Lebron with his defensive ability and the odds of getting one in the draft after our first pick is remote. The easy part is to have that mindset to look for one (like Thorn I believe) as opposed to most people who look for the offensive guy who also might rebound (like Odom).
Becoming skeptical
I am becoming skeptical about 2010-11. As far as the draft, we didn’t get Wall, so we now have Harris who is not a true PG. Favors and Cousins are both projects who are two – three years away from reaching their potential and starting in this league. I guess there is still a chance that somoen trades with Philly to take one of them and we get Turner instead but that seems pretty small. So as far as 2010-11, that leaves us with the FAs. Unless we get Lebron and one other top tier FA at the 2 or 4, it is hard to see the team going very far in 2010-11. We could add a couple of second tier FAs like Gay and Lee and be competitive, even a playoff team, but Harris, Courtney Lee, Gay, David Lee and Brook is not a team that is going very far in the playoffs. It looks to me that if we don’t get Lebron the team would be best served by skipping this FA class altogether, going into the lottery again next year and go after Durant or Melo down the road
