I'll be happy when the draft is over and I can look forward to Summer League action. Anyway, if Favors is the pick at #3, the urgency to draft a high-priced power forward is minimized. Which I think is great. I'm not a fan of throwing max money at Amar'e anyway. Or Boozer for that matter. So I think the best solution would be to sign Haslem or Scola at the mentor/backup for Favors. That would preserve our cap space, and deepen the roster while allowing Favors to develop. And with the 27th or 31st pick, we could take a flyer on another big with potential, like Tiny Gallons, Vernado, Lawal or Brackins. (Perfect draft scenario would be Favors/Jordan Crawford/and one of the others I just mentioned).
I'd rather build with talented youth like OKC than commit max dollars to guys that aren't deserving. After a 12-win season, I'm more than patient enough to see this through.
