New filings in the condemnation of properties in the Atlantic Yards footprint state there are only 15 people remaining in six households on the 22-acre property. It's unknown how many of the 15 will resist an eviction. The ESDC will ask Judge Abraham Gerges Wednesday to order all the residents and businesses to leave by May 17. The ESDC's "vacant possession" of the property is the final obstacle standing between Mikhail Prokhorov and the Nets.

The filings also note that the arena will have to be completed by July 2012 for the Nets to open their 2012-13 season in Brooklyn. "Commissioning" the arena, the final checkout of its various operations, will take four months.

Only 6 households left...

The end is upon us. I would be shocked if May 17th is not set as the final date. Proky will be at the lottery!

Mikhail....

….needs to make a call to his buddy Vlad Putin. Have a few of his sleeper KGB agents here on american soil make a trip to the footprint and ‘convince’ the holdouts to leave quietly….a few radioactive isotopes in tonight’s left overs should do the trick.

In all seriousness, it sucks for the people that got forced out, but big business > the single individual in this country. Rights and ownership are a myth in this capitalist wasteland where green reigns supreme.

Sometimes you just need to take the money and run….Pride always comes before the fall.

a polint of clariification

while there are more than 15 people living in the footprint—about 32 total, the others have made deals and will leave shortly. They will not be evicted. There are currently two businesses still operating, but only one that hasn’t made a deal. Freddy’s owner made his deal last week.

I suspect that by the hearing tomorrow, the numbers will be lower. Not all the holdouts are part of the lawsuits. The state has hired a firm to help people relocate…although not everyone believes they are being treated fairly.

"not everyone believes they are being treated fairly"

NOBODY has been treated fairly Net Income. The whole situation is a catostrophe and it is shameful that some on here continue to support it.

please, some people

have been offered double their property value

if Freddy was smart, he’d open his bar right back next to the arena when it is finished…he’d become the Stans of Brooklyn

NetLogic...

I am so proud of the state for offering relocation help. DG should feel lucky to have the support he needs.

They are not giving up yet

I wouldn’t say it’s over just yet. Let’s not forget the upcomming case of Peter Williams vs NYS Urban Developement Corp can change things. If anyone didn’t know, that case recquires the ESDC to actually use recent findings, not the ones that are from 2006 that even State Senator Bill Perkins claimed was innacurate when he got the ESDC in their place over at the NYS Office Building over in Harlem not that long ago.
