The Draft Lottery is still a month away--you can count down the hours on the Nets website. The Draft itself and free agency aren't til five and six weeks after that. And everyone wants to get a coach in place somewhere along the line.
Still, the Nets front office is gathering names for the Draft and discussing who to bring in--and who to bring back--once Mikhail Prokhorov gets in place, hopefully by the Lottery but more likely closer to the draft. The first domino, however, will be the coach. No doubt he will want a say in the personnel matters. Rod Thorn said Thursday he would not rule out hiring an assistant coach.
As for the Draft and free agency, all the usual suspects will be considered, starting with John Wall and LeBron James. Two surprises: Fred Kerber writes that the Nets might seek to re-sign Josh Boone and Dave D'Alessandro thinks they may want to re-sign Jarvis Hayes. Not a surprise: Julian Garcia reports at length about Kiki Vandeweghe's tenuous position with the team. Al Iannazzone takes a general view of what areas need addressing.
