At Season's End, Not the Worst!
The final power rankings are in and the Nets who started out the worst ended, well, not the worst. NBA.com's John Schuhmann and both of ESPN's power rankers, Marc Stein and John Hollinger, have the Nets above the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves, who've won 15 games to the Nets' 12...with two to play.
In fact, Hollinger has the Nets above both the Wolves (who've won one game in their last 22) and the Clippers (who've won only four in that same stretch). We can argue strongly that the Nets should be even higher. Their 5-5 record over the last 10 games is better than 14 NBA teams. YES!
Schuhmann points to Terrence Williams' play as one big reason for the steady gains lately: "The best aspect of the last month has been the improvement of Terrence Williams, who's averaging 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.5 assists since March 1." Stein, on the other hand, suggests "breathing is on hold until Prokhorov is approved as the new owner."

Shawn, you’re the best. I hope you never change on us. But what comes after Kiki really is fired?
Proud to hold season tickets to the only NBA team soon to be owned by a Russian oligarch.

He just does keep ____ or fire _______ with every win or lose
I’m sure the new coach will get the same unoriginal treatment.
Kudos to this team for not giving up and playing through this train wreck of a season. Last season we saw quite a few players mailing it in and going through the motions without putting forth the effort. Glad to see these kids have that desire to keep getting better and to win. If only there was a young PF with the same drive and determination, a PF who has continued to improve every year, and who is genuinely loyal to the NY area…

Good Work Nets
T Will has credit Kiki a lot for his recent play. I wouldn’t be surprise since the ownership is still in limbo Kiki returns in some shape or form.

I really really hope
Kiki is around to assist in the draft and in general this off season. Our draft has been SO much better since he got here. And I think he did a great job of finding us young talented building blocks in general. And, I think he did a great job at developing the young talent, specifically TWill and CLee but even Hump’s shooting and FT shooting seem to have improved. Gotta give the man credit where credit’s due. He’s no coach though.
Agreed
his coaching job and his job as gm should be viewed separately. As far as I know he’s never coached, or even been an assistant, at any level. We really can’t fault him for being terrible at it.
in billionaire russian playboys we trust.
Dudes pretty much built this team
in two years’ worth of drafting. Since he got here we got Brook and TWill straight thru the draft. Ryan Anderson who was a great pick turned into CLee who is looking like a great piece right now. And we got CDR in the 2nd round last year too.
Basically since he’s been here we’ve gotten:
Harris, Lopez, Twill, CLee and CDR. Pretty much all our good players and serious assets.
I’ll forgive him on Yi, so long as he realizes at this point that we need a defensie/rebounding PF and YI should be the backup.
Actually, wasn't he an assistant in charge of player development in Dallas?
No one except for M I K E gives Kiki credit for atleast helping these young guys develop. Basically everyone except for CDR has kept getting better and developing under Kiki. Especially TWill.
Just love that above photo of Courtney Lee and T-Will...
Reminds me of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid…
Worst season I have ever been through (and I started before Drazin!) and I do not give any kudos to kiki. He delayed TWills development for months. He is an inept coach. They play no defense and will have a big time reality check when the next coach comes to town. He should be packing up his locker now. I think Twill is a fine player, but I do not think he is a starter in this league. I think we will see the real Twill next year when teams are playing for real. The last few weeks has been like watching All-star games without any defense. And let’s not forget he hung LFrank out to dry, sold RJ for a bag of peanuts, and tried to get Del in the back door. Don’t trust him. He is good at breaking it down, but he is not good and building it back up: his insistance on sticking with Yi should indicate he is a poor judge and a stubborn person.
He's an inept coach
He’s also never been a coach in his entire life. Why would you expect him to be a competent coach? Give him kudos for what he’s done as gm.
in billionaire russian playboys we trust.
Twill not a starter in this league
Have you been watching the last several weeks? TWill has looked like our best player hands down. If He’s not a starter then NO ONE on this team is a starter.
True
I’m am not a big fan of Kiki either but at the same my original statement spoke that because the Nets ownership is still up in the air don’t be shock if he returns.
Plus if we return with the same core with the exception of our draft pick,
We can not expect big things when we still have Ratner as the owner, Only thing I’m looking forward to is the development of our players
