Lee Says He'll Play but His Coach Thinks Otherwise

Courtney Lee wants to play against his old team.  He missed the game in Orlando and he's not about to miss this one.  So when he was asked if he was playing Friday, his response was simple. "It’s still a very good chance. Very good chance." But in another part of the gym, Kiki Vandeweghe was saying something else, calling Lee's return "doubtful".  Meanwhile, Trenton Hassell will continue to start at small forward over Terrence Williams, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Jarvis Hayes, who seems mystified about why he's lost his job.

Lee averaged 15.5 ppg in February, shooting 40.9% from deep, 48.6% overall and 92.9% from the foul stripe. It was the best month, statistically, in his career.

    Healthy First

If C.Lee is not healthy then just wait to bring him back.
I still believe the starting backcourt should be D.Harris/C.D.Roberts and the second unit K.SDooling/C.Lee.
Balane scoring with two sets of guards makes sense and gives us achance towards victories.

Dziedzic – If we started Devin and CDR, it’d be the worst shooting lineup of all time.

by J-Kay on Mar 4, 2010 5:12 PM EST reply actions

I think that would definitely be in play if they also slid Yi to SF, played Boone at PF, and signed Jason Collins for a day at center.

Then again, any lineup with Jason Collins in it is in the running for worst shooting lineup of all time.

    Shooting?

I was talking about running the fast break and getting out there for layups instaed ogf the boring halfcourt BS we watch every game.
D.Harris and C.D.Roberts know how to run the break along with having B.Lopez trailing.
K.Dooling and C.Lee would better sutied for a half court game with the second unit for balance.
Add Yi to the seond unit and start K.Humphries.
Getting layups with Harris and Roberts along with Lopez down low when needed causes no concern for outside shooting.

    Sean Williams

In the Kerber article it said Sean WIlliams had 13 blocks in one game lol. I have been looking for his game by game stats. Does anyone have it? I am sure he is a big fan favorite over there. As for Courtney Lee I hope he only plays when if he is healthy. He is our future and a part of our “big 3” lol.

Might be a dumb comment but...

I could see Lopez, Harris and Lee showing better chemistry for the rest of the season. Obviously they won’t set the world on fire but we’ll see a lot better play

by SamsHops on Mar 4, 2010 5:18 PM EST reply actions

    Don't see why that's dumb.

All 3 players have played better and better this month.

What impresses me most about Lee is his BBIQ. The Nets could use a more guys like him.

Does he have a mean dry rub I don’t know about or a secret sauce or something? Ohh sorry, I thought that said BBQ.

    Lee is turning it around.

With better coaching this probably could have happened earlier, but he’s showing signs again of being a promising player.

    He's showing

what type of player he was supposed to be this month – a hardworking, Kittles-like player with capabilities of dropping 15 a game on a good team, while being arguably the best perimeter player on the team.

    I mean

    best perimeter defender. Oops.

    Keep it up

I think he needs 2 continue to improve, maybe eventually he can kick his scoriing up 2 18 or 17 a game. he was on a good roll so i hopw he continues it.

    KIKI SMH

Does Kiki talk to any of his players smh.

    C. LEE

I love how Lee essentially told Kiki to shut up. Hey Jarvis, maybe it’s cause when you can’t fullfill your only purpose (hitting 3s at 24%), then you harm more than help??

by 'Antoine on Mar 4, 2010 6:14 PM EST reply actions

I’m of the opinion that Trenton Hassell and Jarvis Hayes should never start another game for the Nets.

Statistically, they are both worse than TWill. That’s really, really saying something.

    Let 'em try!

If Lee thinks he can play, why not give him a few minutes and see if he is ready or not. What have we got to lose, another game? He really started to look good in February.

If Lee is ready to play, start him and T-Will at the 2 and 3. Hopefully Lee’s shot will still be crisp

    Jarvis Hayes...

…there is no mystery as to why Hayes has lost his job. He’s been flat out terrible since the 17th of February.

I guess there is more to a jump shot than having a pretty stroke.

by Joe Uras on Mar 5, 2010 11:24 AM EST up reply actions

    Lee's playing time

Kiki doesn’t want to take shot from Yi so Lee will sit. He needs his Yi to pad his mediocre stats b/c anyone with eyes for the game can see he is overmatched and out of place every night. Kiki’s only hope of returning next year is if Yi starts playing like Dirk.

by oman8 on Mar 4, 2010 7:54 PM EST reply actions

    Swat baby!!!
13 blocks.. 47 in 9 games… Let him win a few titles for the Chinese and look out world. I bet Yi never had 47 of anything for the Chinese. OK maybe 47 fans.

Playing time based upon what side of the bed KIKI wakes up on??

So basically its not just CDR that has a problem with KIKI and his playing time, Terrance William’s said it’s easy to get ready and play well when you know your going to play. Hayes probably has never spoken to KIKI all year, and Lee is like KIKI who??? You mean that guy with the glasses who walks around pretending to be the coach smh. KIKI is soo way over his head its not funny, I just hope he doesn’t damage our young players to bad mentally, with his amateurish way of coaching.

    Kiki is a JOKE!

    @Atronic

I think it’s a little to late for that Kiki already damaged this team up mentally. All I keep wondering is would we have the record we have now if L. Frank was still coaching.

Jarvis Hayes in the dog house?

Jarvis is probably on his way out. Can’t say I will miss him. He never played too much to really miss. Another example of a player who gets paid so much, for so little.

    by M I K E on Mar 5, 2010 11:41 AM EST reply actions

NO – we would have at least 25 wins maybe even 30 because Frank could see that Yi does not belong in the NBA.
