The Billion Dollar Question: Now What?
NBA.com's John Schuhmann takes a look at what will happen with the Nets franchise now that they've avoided the ignominy of having the NBA's worst record ever. As Schuhmann asks, "So now what?"
Some questions were answered Sunday during the "60 Minutes" interview of Mikhail Prokhorov. There's little doubt he's willing to spend. Another big one will be answered May 18 when ping pong balls fall.
But Schuhmann goes through a list of other, less appreciated, changes that could take place when Prokhorov takes over. With more money, the Nets could beef up their scouting and get back to doing statistical analysis. Both suffered in this year's cost-cutting. More experienced assistants could also come with a bigger budget.

Get some statheads in here stat
We need to have a representative at the Sloan Sports Analytic Conference every year, this year we didn’t have one while a lot of other teams did.
And do we still not have an advanced scouting staff?
lol yeah, but at least people are paying us attention now for the right reason.
Funny am I starting to hear the footsteps of bandwagon fans hmmmm
I know right...
…the steps are getting closer and louder =] This is the team to watch over the off season that’ s the truth.
Go Nets!
Those footsteps will soon be a stampede..
Especially if we get the #1pick.
If we get LeBron the bandwagon will be a pile of splinters.

I know nobody cares, but...
What is going to happen with Kiki. Will he return as G.M. or be dumped?
I hope he returns as G.M. but I can understand why he might not return.
What do you guys think?
I think he stays, but
not for long. I suspect we will see some European talent brought in to replace him in a year or two, after some transition period. I would bet that long-term Prohky sees a countryman as GM, and Thorn is going to train that man.
I hope kiki is back as GM. I think he will be because of importance of draft and player development in next 3 years.
As for statistical analysis…..I have been a portfolio manager at a very large US bank helping to manage 500 million in capital while analyzing market and data releases for trading opportunities. I’d love to come aboard. Call me Mr. Thorn…..
Kiki was pushed to a no-win situation that he had no interest in. He saved the organisation a lot money and became the capegoat of the mess. Of course, he is not a good coach but he has taken enough abuse for that. I think people should respect him for the sacrifices he made.
