Draft Prospect Game Thread - Friday, March 19

Evan Turner, Derrick Favors and Wesley Johnson, as well as some prospects the Nets might be looking at for their other picks, are all in action Friday night. Favors and Georgia Tech take on Oklahoma State at 7:15, Johnson and Syracuse play Vermont at 9:30, and Turner and Ohio State take on UC Santa Barbara at 9:35.

I imagine Ohio State vs. Vermont won’t be shown in NYC area on CBS

Syracuse should be interesting without their Big Man, considering all the upsets, especially in the Big East.

Wesley Johnson may be just a little too old to expect much improvement.

However, it makes things so much easier to draft a wing and get DLee via free agency.

Otherwise, if Nets have to pick Cousins or Favors, then who do they take in free agency? RGay is probably best pick, but that might make it more difficult to get LeBron in 2011, when he should be looking for REAL.

Funny how Kerber's, list of Nets top 5 prospects is identical to what WE have been writing for quite some time.

Could Nets management be wise enough to at least monitor what WE have been writing?
We know that TWill and probably CDR follow NetsDaily, as well as someone from Proky’s group.

I was probably the first to pick Turner over Wall and to put Cousins in the discussion for a top 4 pick when draft experts had him at #8 or higher. That’s because I get the Big Ten Network and was following Turner more closely.

Favors and Johnson had already been a favorite, but Favors was dropping until recently, while Johnson has dropped since his injury, and could rebound in March Madness.

Top 5 ?

Ask yourself this top five question.
Is D.Lee/PF & R.Gay/SF better then D.Cousins/PF & W.Johnson/SF?
The answer is no by a large margin.
Stick to the draft and root our Nets on to making the draft the way to go.

Really what does Kerber really know about basketball.

GO BROOKLYN NETS!

Ian Eagle

Is the man
his enthusiasm while calling games is great
He should do all the Nets games

-Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Favors isn't ready for NBA

There are several Big Men in #7-#20 who are better right now and might be better long term.

I’m sticking with Cousins, as long as BLopez would be Okay with moving back to PF.

by jerry25 on Mar 19, 2010 9:17 PM EDT reply actions

No to Lopez playing Pf. I would rather maximize his effectiveness. Because i think he is and will be be a better center than cousins can be.

yeah plus can you imagine a defensive front court

with lopez at pf and cousins at center? that’s pretty awful

worse than Yi?

Cousins is a BEAST. Not a Moose, but a BEAST. No other way to describe him.
BEAST means that people will Fear him, like they fear Shaq.

can't wait for it

I know Ohio State’s got no depth but if Turner can find a way to get them past Kansas to the final four…The dude is superman.

this is a pretty interesting article that I read about Turner’s entrance to the court tonight.

Who you interested in for our other two picks jerry?

by NJQuestCat on Mar 19, 2010 9:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Difficult

Should be around 4-5 future All Stars in draft.
Turner, Wall and probably Cousins are 3 of them, so it would be hard to bypass DeMarcus. All depends on his getting along with BLopez.

Also, picking a Big means not going for a Big, like DLee in free agency. I’d rather go the DLee route than the RGay route, if only get one FA.

Ideally wish Nets could get Turner and get a “package” to combine Dallas pick, another future pick, CDR and $3 million to move up in draft and get a sure NBA player. Thorn didn’t give any hint yesterday that he might do this.

Wesley Johnson is playing now too. Hope he shows something special.

Yeah moving up in the draft would be nice..

T-will is untouchable in my mind because he’s coming into his own.

I don’t think any team would be interested in takin CDR off our hands.

I really like C Lee but should they consider puttin him in a package to move up in the draft?? I’d be really hesitant.

CDR is a keeper

He was awesome last night. He’ll be great again once we bring in an actual coach. Moving yp 3-5 spots isn’t worth losing him.

Damn..Diebler

He is sick from 3…people underestimate the quality of Turner’s supporting cast. They give him good room to operate by being such great shooters.

Turner is having a nightmare game... but State is just too strong anyway

Yea Turner's real off tonight...

he’s still affecting the game though at least. Passing and Rebounding decently. Also has 3 TOs. not a prettty night

Is Lauderdale entering the draft?

Lauderdale is ranked as #25 Junior in Draft Express

That means he surely would be available to Nets with Dallas pick, even if he moves up considerably.

He is a 42% FT shooter and only about 8 rebounds/game per 40 minutes, which doesn’t make him into another DeJuan Blair.
He might be Okay, but not sure if any upgrade over say Josh Boone.

William Bufford is another possibility, as a Sophomore SG.

When I saw 42%

I assumed you meant from 3 point range and was like holy crap that’s pretty awesome. Then I read the whole sentence and was like “there’s no way anyone can be that bad from the free throw line”
