Tournament time means end is near
Though the Nets still have some work to do to avoid the worst record in NBA history, the games on CBS over the next few weeks may be more important. The Nets hope that they'll be picking either John Wall or Evan Turner come June 24.
(Consider this a game thread for Thursday night action: Kentucky vs. East Tenn. St. and whatever games involve draft prospects.)

talent dilution
players realize that going to small schools and putting up numbers with lesser talent around them will probably get them just as much, if not more, media coverage than having to share the spotlight with other stars. Imagine how much coverage Eric Bledsoe would get if he wasn’t on a team with Wall and Cousins. Imagine how much he would get if he powered someone like Northern Iowa, just picking an arbitrary team, to like a top 5 seed?
"We have a plan, and our plan, I like our plan'
it's Omar's world, we're just livin in it.
Bledsoe probably won't turn pro this year. I don't even see him listed.
There are 2 sides to this story. He has lots of scouts who are watching him, who wouldn’t otherwise.
However, if playing elsewhere, his numbers would be much better.
Next year he will have a chance to shine on his own and on a Bigtime school in Kentucky.
I think he made the right choice to go to KY. He could be a top pick out of his Sophomore year.
Yeah but they're not watching him
they’re watching Cousins and Wall. if he was putting up bigger numbers at another school he’d probably have scouts there actually watching him and getting a lot more hype/coverage from the media.
Plus Calipari is likely going to bring in top tier highly hyped recruits next year so it’s not like he’ll be the only one there.

I'm sure Nets would have grabbed him up with the #31 pick, if available, assuming they didn't get Wall with first pick.
However, I think its known that he is staying another year.
The scouts have been watching him, I’m sure, but for next year.
We need a more formal intro to the game thread. Like photo of Cousins and Wall. I almost missed it.
Good news for Evan Turner and Ohio State now that Georgetown lost.
Big East is looking really bad at this point. 3 Major Losses in one night.
Maybe Ohio State will make it to play Kansas. That would be nice.
Was the Kentucky game even on?
Looks like Wall had a great game, but not sure there was much to talk about, since the UK game wasn’t on much. I didn’t watch the Georgetown game. Seems like Monroe put up good numbers.
Turner, Favors and Johnson all play tomorrow night, so we can do a formal game thread for that.

Nah...the Kentucky game wasn't on..
It wasn’t on in the Northeast…but you can watch all the games on the ncaa website. They just killed em. Wall shot well today and he passed very well as well.
Marquette vs. Washington was sick. Quincy Pondexter was sick in the clutch. He had a nice game winning shot tonight.
If the Nets can land Pondexter if they pick Wall over Turner…that would be a nice move. He could do it for us at the 3.
Barring disaster...
it should be Ohio State vs Kansas…that’ll be interesting given all of Kansas’ depth and the lack of such depth at Ohio State
I was watching on CBSsports.com - All the games are there LIVE
I thought CBS was at least showing some of game? I imagine they would have cut to closer games or Georgetown when they were behind.
yeah
you can get to the CBS link from any site….you can watch the CBSSports link from ESPN, CBSSports.com, and DraftExpress.com
Derrick Favors has edged ahead of Cousins for 4th place in NBAdraft.net
Favors is playing at 7:15 tomorrow against Oklahoma St.
Oklahoma State has James Anderson, who is only ranked at #14, but should be better.
I expect Oklahoma State to win.
You know who seems whack...
Luke Harangody. Haven’t seen much of him. But today he scored all of 2 points. I think we could cross him off the list of big men to pick up this summer.
Monroe was alright today. I can see why we wouldn’t want to put him next to Brook. He’s like a poor man’s Brook with some better passing.
He's ranked #10 with Draftnet.com. A 6'8" SF would be just what Nets need.
It might make getting RGay unnecessary if Nets could upgrade the Dallas pick by about 12-15 spots.
3 - 4 tweeners scare me...prolly cuz of Yi
He plays with a lot of intensity and energy…he’s pretty athletic…but like Yi he lacks some toughness. He seems to run into similar problems when he drives to the hoop cuz his ball handling ain’t superb.
He definitely has better hands than Yi…so that’s a plus.
again…3-4 tweeners scare me.
Yi isn't really a 3-4 tweener
He doesn’t really have a skill set for either position.

that doesn't mean the Nets haven't tried it with him.
Yi’s been entrusted with 3, 4, n 5…
might as well throw 1 and 2 in there.
Lol I agree
I’m just saying it’s not really a fair comparison for Aminu

Well hopefully Monroe would drop again and might become available if Nets upgraded Dallas pick with $3 million cash and CDR?
He still would only be a reserve behind Lopez and DLee, but that would be a nice threesome.
Damn Kansas
They are a sound team. I really like Cole Aldrich. He uses his body well and finishes strong.
And Xavier Henry…he is a solid freshman prospect. It might do him very well to stay another year in college. He’s having a nice freshman year. I can see him working himself into a top 5 pick.
Wow WHAT a comeback by Wake Forest in OT!!!
What a clutch shot for the win! This whole day of basketball has been so awesome n exciting! May be gettin some teeth pulled tomorrow so I may end up on the couch for some more bball!!
Wake Forest wins by 1 point with 1.3 secs. left
Texas guy missed both free throws with 10 secs left.
I missed game until end of OT. How did Aminu do?
Guess I’ll have a chance to see him again.
I am ACC fan anyway (from Ralph Sampson and UVA) so glad for win and happy to see Big East get put in its place.
Back in my day was when ACC became dominant. N. Carolina with Perkins, Worthy and some new guy name Jordan.
Of all players today
I’d say Quincy Pondexter raised his draft stock the most with his sick 2nd half performance and clutch game winner against Marquettte
Kerber:
Scouts and execs, some with the Nets, some not, gave capsule reviews of the top. All are in agreement that Wall and Evans are 1-2, although some insist their order is not etched in stone. Who’s No. 3?
If the Nets picked third and felt Cousins is the best, they’d take him, despite the presence of Brook Lopez. Talent first. Remember?
Wall: “No one can stay is front of this kid. He’s that quick. Really special at the end of games. Not afraid of the big moment. He is a stud.”
One compared him to Derrick Rose “with the potential to be better.”
Turner: “A triple-double threat. Like a Brandon Roy. He’s a combo guard or a point forward. Terrific in transition, tough defensively.”
Cousins: “Rebounds, scores inside. Big, really strong kid. Excellent post game. Terrific hands.”
Favors: “Projects as a prototype four. Young, and like so many of these kids, probably could use another year in college. Enormous upside. Good hands. Needs to work on his shot.”
Johnson: “Has all the attributes to be a great player. Can defend, make shots, pass, rebound. Could be a consummate three man in the NBA.”
Georgetown messed up my bracket
anyway…Wall and Turner are obviously going to have the most impact in the NBA, next season.
I see cousins averaging…13 ppg and 8 rpg his rookie season
and favors 8ppg 9rpg his rookie season…
i see wall and turner both averaging at least 15 ppg.
