Harris Out Again, T-Will to Start?

Devin Harris did not travel with the Nets to Philadelphia and will miss Wednesday's game against the Sixers. Harris missed practice on Monday and Tuesday's loss to the Hawks with an upper respiratory infection. Keyon Dooling got the start Tuesday and Chris Quinn saw his first playing time in more than a month. On twitter, Chris Douglas-Roberts hints that Terrence Williams will start Wednesday, perhaps for Trenton Hassell.

Jordan would have played! Every game is like a “playoff” game to us so guys need to step up so we can not break this record.

Need this

We need to take this one. Pleeeeeease……..

by NDTony on Mar 17, 2010 2:05 PM EDT reply actions

Jordan

I don’t recall Jordan having an “upper respiratory infection,” i recall him having a bad cold. What Devin has blows, totally crippling.

by Tim823 on Mar 17, 2010 2:09 PM EDT reply actions

"Crippling" and "Devin" and "blows", in the same sentence...

Who would ever of thought they would see those three words in the same sentence when discussing Harris. LMAO

Casual fans have no idea

How hard it is and how painful it is to play through certain injuries and afflictions. We like to think that NBA players are some sort of superhuman people immune to pain and disability because of the feats they can achieve on the court. Why don’t people try shooting with a sprained wrist or running with a sprained ankle some time. Or try moving around when you can barely breathe.

NBA players are human too, we need to stop this expectation that they can play through anything. Devin HAS played hurt

by muwu on Mar 17, 2010 2:59 PM EDT reply actions

Oh please...

Everybody knows Devin Harris is soft. A player that misses so many games without an apparent major injury is soft.

by M I K E on Mar 17, 2010 3:17 PM EDT reply actions

And I suppose injuries that aren't major

are supposed to hurt less or hamper your abilities less?

Like I said, normal people have no idea whatsoever the level of difficulty and pain playing through certain things.

by muwu on Mar 17, 2010 3:30 PM EDT up reply actions

I feel your pain...

I guess all players should be worshiped and honored and put on a pedestal for giving us hours upon hours of their time and talent. In fact no player should ever be disrespected by us mere mortals. They are gods and we should kiss their fat egos.

I know plenty of mere mortals who go to work with cancer and take painful chemo, but still work hard come home and do it again next day.

Those are my heros…

by M I K E on Mar 17, 2010 3:37 PM EDT up reply actions

I suppose Cousins is not soft right?

by Mikee21 on Mar 17, 2010 3:18 PM EDT reply actions

What's all this anti/hate Cousins stuff going on.

You would think that a player like Harris would want to help his team avoid having the worst record in the history of sports. He is supposed to be the leader of this team.

He reminds me of a high maintenance woman, who can’t leave the house unless every hair is in place and make up is perfect.

Nothing wrong with being soft. Just don’t make it sound like Harris is some kind of warrior who hustles and plays hard all the time.

by M I K E on Mar 17, 2010 3:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Okay so I suppose Harris plays when not healthy then doesn’t live up to expectations and get bashed by you because he scored 10 points 1 assist etc etc. Okay no problem

by Mikee21 on Mar 17, 2010 3:36 PM EDT up reply actions

I never bash a player unless he deserves it.

I don’t believe in booing players or calling them hateful names. Harris is probably a wonderful guy but when you get into the public arena, you are fair game for criticism. It’s nothing personal but is a big part of being a fan.

If you tell me Yi sucks I can tell you Harris is soft. I think I’m being kinder.

Final toughts on Harris, for now...

I don’t know how many games Harris missed when playing for Dallas, but that might be one of the reasons this young great PG was traded for Kidd and a 1st round pick.

by M I K E on Mar 17, 2010 3:51 PM EDT reply actions

Easy enough to look up

2004-05: Played 76 games
2005-06: Played 56 games
2006-07: Played 80 games
2007-08: Played 39 of their 53 games before the trade.

Thanks for the info ND...

Enough of Harris. We have more important fish to fry tonight.

I consider tonight a must win.

Just edited the post, because

CDR hints on twitter that T-Will will start (for Hassell I assume).

I emailed kiki this morning

it must have worked. Your welcome

by Andy. on Mar 17, 2010 4:55 PM EDT up reply actions

while you’re at it, do you mention telling him to stop playing Yi?

Anyways, i really want to see Twill get a triple double.

Also, i dont think CDR saying “TWill earned a starting position” is just “hinting” at the fact that he is starting. it’s pretty much a gurantee.

by i says on Mar 17, 2010 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions

But in all seriousness

its about time twill gets a start, im happy for him.

Why hassell was starting beats me.

Balls talk

That is funny!! Steve Nash is a character ! =]

Go Nets!

I think Harris has already gave up on this season...

He just doesn’t care whether we win or lose anymore. I think it doesn’t matter to him whether we get the worst record in the NBA or not… in my opinion, he already mailed it in after we set that 18 game losing streak.

I don’t think he is doing everything that he can in his power to help us win… that’s the impression that I get.

by LetsGoNets on Mar 17, 2010 4:57 PM EDT reply actions

Yi sucks

Harris is sick. Who wouldn’t be looking at our record and our team. TWill should have been starting at SF since day 1. I wonder if Boone didn’t get injured last year, how long Lopez would have been on the bench. All he needed to do was twitter something stupid like commenting on Opie’s rotation and we’d still be writing about when he would get his chance to start. You got to be dumber than a rock to not figure out that TWill should start over Hassell. My guess is if Opie was still the coach, both Hassell and Simmons would be playing over TWill. We might have the worst team but we got the biggest laps. 19 reb fell in to Yi and 20 fell in for Boone.

by msm2 on Mar 17, 2010 5:07 PM EDT reply actions

Thats funny

I don’t know whats sadder… your point, or the fact that the very same game Boone had 20, Brook had 4… and those all fell into HIS lap as well! At least Boone sticks his nose in the paint to get boards. There is absolutely no excuse for Brook to not average 10 boards a game for the year. He is on the worst team in the league with no other front court help(no rebounding threats) and more importantly, he gets a ton of minutes in which he could accumulate those boards. Pathetic.

by Tim823 on Mar 17, 2010 6:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Wow

Its amazing how narrow everyone’s vision is. Just think about all the leagues best PG’s that are injured.

CP3 has been out forever.
Derron has had constant ankle, and now wrist probs.
Rose has missed a TON with all sorts of things.
Monta cant stay away from scooters.
Chauncey was out for a while.
Nash has chronic back problems, he plays still, but he plays poorly. Check his month by month stats.

This year the only good PG’s I can think of off hand who have been doing great injury wise, are Rondo, Westbrook, and of course… Kidd.

Maybe that’s why you all see the way you see it? Since Kidd was such a specimen.

Bottom line, injury is unavoidable. There is no such thing as “injury prone,” its all luck. Look at Grant Hill. What? he WAS injury prone, but now NoT? No, he just hasn’t had the unfortunate luck recently of hurting himself. Stepping on someones foot wrong. Getting knocked by an elbow. Knocking knees. Etc.

Hey @ Tim823 – What about Mo Williams?

Also saw on pregame that Terrence Williams will start tonight. YES!

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Mar 17, 2010 7:23 PM EDT reply actions

no

Mo Williams doesn’t count. I don’t consider him anywhere even close to the league “best PG’s.” Not even in this conversation.

But yes, he does get injured as well as everyone else.

by Tim823 on Mar 17, 2010 11:01 PM EDT up reply actions

@ Tim823 – You would be surprised at how few people share your opinion of Mo Williams.
