Harris Questionable for Tuesday, Hawks' Johnson Out
Devin Harris missed practice Monday with an upper respiratory infection. He has missed 16 games already this season, and his status for Tuesday's game against the Hawks is undetermined. Hawks guard Joe Johnson did not fly with the team and is out with an Achilles injury. Mike Bibby made the flight, but is questionable with a back issue.
Harris has played the last 15 games, averaging 20.9 points and 7.6 assists in that time, but he has shot just 43 percent from the field. After they host the Hawks, the Nets play Wednesday in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Yi Jianlian worked out, but won't be ready to return from his sprained left ankle until Saturday at the earliest.

We need him and Yi
After watching Boone got beat by Scola.. I think Yi is the best pf the Nets can use now..
Yes, Yi’s defensive prowess was certainly missed in the Rockets game… Wait, what?

T-Will at the "1."
Am I the only guy who doesn’t believe T-Will is a PG?
Perhaps I’m over simplifying things a bit but, I think he’s an uber-athletic 2/3 who shows good passing instincts and can’t shoot a lick.

I agree
T-Will is a match-up problem creator. You use him at 1-2-3 where and when it creates an advantage. I don’t see him as a straight up pg because of his shooting issues. The NBA has a way of exposing players the second time through the league. Lots of rookies who start out hot because coaches and players do not know there skills and tendencies. The second time around the come back to earth and only the real players still shine. T-Will as a full time pg will not work. But part time in the right situations he can be a huge asset.
I also think he should be starting at the 3 as his offense is better suited with the first team – that is he will be the 4th or 5th option and get better looks with less pressure to score.
T-Will can't shoot a lick
say he’s got a deadly jumpshot. He’s immediately one of the few best players in the NBA. Players can LEARN shooting. Much harder to learn jumping in a figure 8 orbit around defenders.
YMCAs around the country are filled with athletic brick layers
Ask Sean Williams how far super athletic skill gets you in the NBA, or Gerald Green or “fill in the blank” of the latest vertical leap super quick wonder. Same applies for the “you can not teach height” theory. Josh Boone would be looking at a 4 year $16+ million dollar deal anywhere in the league if he could shoot even 75% from the line….yet he still can’t learn to shoot and might find himself on bus rides around the Turkish league next year. At nearly 23 years old T-Will has had plenty of time to learn how to shoot.
To be clear I like T-Will very much. We just need to put him in positions where he can be successful and I don’t think full time pg long term is that spot. Better a fantastic niche player match-up monster playing 25 minutes per game then an average at best starter playing 32 minutes a game.
I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t see T-Will becoming a deadly shooter. I certainly think he can get better – but that’ll an improvement over the bricklayer that he currently is.
Most guys who can’t shoot, when they do improve, it’s in their spot-up game (i.e. Kidd, David Lee). A guy like T-Will would be most effective if he had a pull-up jumper/mid-range game – and that’s where I don’t see him making a vast improvement.
By and large, he’s an athlete who plays basketball rather than a basketball player who’s athletic. Therein lies my concern.

Give him the keys...
We won’t find out unless we give him a chance.
We know what Harris can do and not do.
What better time then now.
I’m with you… He’s said before he wants to play the point, and he’s done a great job lately. Plus, it’s not like we’re fighting for a playoff spot, what’s to lose?

Starting isn't important, Finishing games and total minutes are.
However, if he did start, that would give a normal coach a chance to put CDR in the game.
It was quite predictable that Nets would fade in 2nd half, without someone to give team a spark. CDR is a competitor, even if he isn’t scoring. That helps everyone else to see him compete. Unfortunately Kiki has played mind-games with CDR by ignoring him.
Nets need two Big Men at all times – not Hassel and 1 Big. Otherwise, BLopez will only get frustrated and get into foul trouble early.
Kiki needs to be fired, but it won’t happen because Thorn wants to let Proky do the “dirty work”.
He should.
Kiki should start Twill for the rest of the season. I’ve said this twice already. He should start over Harris and then Harris will be the first guard off the bench alternating between the PG and SG.

Pitiful
He’s like the polar opposite of Jason Kidd in everything…especially toughness
Imagine being in a foxhole with Devin Harris.
I would rather have the fox with me if things got rough.
Earl Clark was just sent to D-League
Some people were arguing for Clark over teammate TWill last year and even 1 month ago.
TWill has demonstrated some MJ type “hanging” finishes at the basket lately.
Has anyone put together a Video?
You should get the facts before starting your rant...
You guys are just full of it.
Twill, last 4 games: 29 mpg, 25-46 (54%) FG, 9-16 FT, 15 ppg
Shooting 54% is not brick laying.

Getting the facts...
There’s nothing wrong with critiquing T-Will’s game — I’m a Nets fan but, I call it like I see it.
Yes, T-Will has been playing well lately but, if you break down the numbers a little further, you’ll see that he’s been doing his damage close to the basket.
In his last 5 games, he’s 20-27 from point blank range and 6-23 outside of that area. As far as I know, when a player is referred to as a “brick layer,” it means he can’t shoot from outside — which T-Will cannot do (at least at the moment) with much efficiency.
Certainly the stat of “9-16 FT” in the last 4 games does more to support my argument than yours.
My earlier posts don’t mean I don’t think he can ball, it’s just that I’m not a believer in T-Will as a full time PG. We’re all entitled to our own opinion and I do appreciate today’s debate. I visit the site daily but I’m typically not much of a poster.
Lies, damn lies and statistics...
Busted! I conveniently did not to go back 5 games (Knicks) because TWill was a master of masonry in that one. I also avoided commenting on the FT stat for obvious reasons (and 1-7 from 3-pt range…uhg). On the other hand, he also averaged 4 assists and more than 5 RBs, so I would still argue that it was a very good 4-game strech (15, 5 & 4).

Check out the media hype trying to get LeBron to go to The Knicks
Danny Granger says “If I was LeBron I’d go to New York”. And the press ran with that Title:

However, no one is buying – Check out the Comments.
There is a lot of nonsense being said about T-Will in this thread. People need to watch the games first before trying to toss some kid headfirst under the bus. He’s been one of the best players on the team the last few weeks.
Start him at the point and see what he does.
"No one stands on the top of the world. Not you, not me, not even gods. But the unbearable vacancy of the throne in the sky is over. From now on...I will be sitting on it."
Mr. DBs,
I’m sure some of the heat from you is directed towards me — and that hurts ‘cause you’re my favorite poster on this site. But you’ve got me all wrong, I’m not trying to toss T-Will under the bus. The only guys who belong under the bus are named Kiki and Rod (and Yi when I’m feeling particularly malicious).
Love T-Will
@ Mr. Dollar Bills and @ John at the Jersey Shore
My issue is that T-WIll needs to be put in a position to be successful and I think this is as a match-up problem at 1, 2 or 3 but not as a straight starting pg. And statistically he is a brick layer. While I hope his last four games are a predicter of his future I think all the NETS games before those four games plus four years at Louisville (where his athletic skill should have really dominated) are more indicative:
Lousville 40% FG 32% three point and assist/turnover ratio of 1.66
NETS 38% FG 31% three point and assist/turnover ratio of 1.51
Love T-Will……just not as a full time starting pg in the NBA.
Love T-Will cont'd
Excellent counter-points Jay-dub.
If someone wants to take a position defending the kid (certainly not a crazy thing to do) you don’t want to bring his statistics into the debate. His historical shooting numbers can’t be dressed-up nor should they be overlooked.
I’d have to co-sign your idea on playing as a “match-up guy” — it feels like it’s in the best interest of him and the team.
t-will has been great
i hated the t-will pick because i hate players that can’t shoot. but as long as he keeps 75% of his shot attempts from within 5 ft. he’s great. but i don’t think he handles well enough to play pg. plus the guy is finally playing well, why mess with him by putting more pressure on by changing his position? dooling & quinn @ pg. this is another example why china doll harris needs to go. even if we don’t get wall, i’d still move harris. you just can’t count on him being in the lineup.
