Game 51 - Nets @ Cavaliers - Tuesday, February 9, 7:00

The 4-46 Nets face the 44-11 Cavaliers. It's enough to send shivers up and down your spine and then up and down again. The Cavs have won 11 straight, have the best record in the NBA and the best player in the NBA. Of course, LeBron James will get the same questions he got last time the two teams met: can you see yourself in a Nets uniform? Delonte West returns for the Cavs.

This may be the first game of the season I wont stand to watch. Even I have my limits.

by Tim on Feb 8, 2010 6:17 PM EST reply actions

This will be total utter annihilation! Lebron will go into the game with one hand tied behind his back to see if he can still put up 30+pts. Even if the Nets had 8 players on the court they would still lose.

102 Cavs
82 Nets
Final

show lebron he can contend with with us, that is all. cdr should start to show more of our youth core

by i on Feb 8, 2010 6:22 PM EST reply actions

To I:

the Nets would show Lebron he can contend if they pulled a stunt like last season… oh so close to the playoffs but painful lack of production from the SF spot (ahem Simmons)

Not going 4-40whatever.

Still… with the right draft and other FAs and trades…

Why am I getting linked to the Celtics game notes.

by Antoine on Feb 8, 2010 6:57 PM EST reply actions

Whats the difference? Lebron is a selfish player anyway. And yes I know he averages a nice assist total, but that’s easy to do when you dominate the ball every dang possession, taking the other teammates out of the game. Thats why he hasnt won yet.

by Tim on Feb 8, 2010 6:57 PM EST reply actions

@ Tim

Are you serious?

by Ravi Sheth on Feb 8, 2010 7:19 PM EST reply actions

These are the games the nets have to win to impress Lebron.

by jj on Feb 8, 2010 7:34 PM EST reply actions

I’m sure that our awesome total of four wins has impressed Lebron already, jj

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Feb 8, 2010 7:38 PM EST reply actions

We’ve been competing more as of late.

Having said that, get ready to be rocked. I predict I’m turning this game off by the middle of the 2nd quarter.

by KD on Feb 8, 2010 8:12 PM EST reply actions

I wonder if LBj will remember the last time he played us we had 3 wins.

by Antoine on Feb 8, 2010 8:22 PM EST reply actions

@ Ravi

Yes.

All the times his team has lost, its because he dominated the ball, literally every single shot was his, and when he needed his teammates they were cold. The playoff games hes won he has had to pull off miracles.

by Tim on Feb 8, 2010 8:28 PM EST reply actions

The Nets should consider a raffle for the starting line up. Throwing in a couple audience members could excite the crowd. It’s not like they’re going to win.

by fuglyboy on Feb 8, 2010 8:52 PM EST reply actions

Totally random, but where can I find a video of Terrence William’s dunk against the Raptors in Toronto?

by NET$MAN on Feb 8, 2010 10:00 PM EST reply actions

Brandon Bass is finally getting some PT for Orlando (on TNT).

Marv Albert said that Bass is with the wrong team, as SVG wants 3 pt. shooters. He said BB would be traded at the end of the year. Bass hit his first 2 mid range jumpers.

If Orlando wants 3pt. shooting and is looking to move BB, why not swap for Yi at this time? Bass is paid 4 million for up to 4 years, so the move wouldn’t hurt the salary cap for next year.

Bass and Hump would make Nets TOUGH at PF. Next year (assuming Nets get a FA PF) maybe Bass could play some SF. He can certainly defend, but is limited to a 15 ft. shooting range.

Vince is 100% Amazin tonight, with 30 pts. with most coming from drives to the basket.

by jerry25 on Feb 8, 2010 10:18 PM EST reply actions

Vince has 48 pts. now for Orlando, with seconds to play!

Vince’s all time high is 51.
I hated all the VC bashing by the media as well as SVG.

I miss VC.

VINCE CARTER 48 pts ! vs. New Orleans

by General Mail on Feb 8, 2010 10:52 PM EST reply actions

really happy for vince tonight. everybody was saying he’s washed up. glad he proved them wrong tonight.

by VC3 on Feb 8, 2010 10:57 PM EST reply actions

Be sure to watch NBA highlights of VC tonight. They will be talking about it all week. Vince would have beaten out AI for the All Star game had he done this earlier in year.

VC had 34 pts. in 2nd half and only 4 FT attempts. With the Nets, he always had about 15 pts in FTs when he was scoring 40+ pts.

Orlando was down 15 pts, when Vince took over.

by jerry25 on Feb 8, 2010 11:02 PM EST reply actions

@NI and NetsDaily:

Its about time to highlight Evan Turner, instead of all the Wall to Wall talk.

Yesterday, Turner had 32 pts., 7 boards, 5 assists and 4 steals in a win over Iowa.

by jerry25 on Feb 8, 2010 11:12 PM EST reply actions

Isn’t there some way for us to “phone it in” versus The Cavs? It doesn’t seem fair to have to play them, really. AND I am expecting the CAVS to do something at the trade deadline to get even better, if that’s possible. I’d DVR ing it, just in case two more NETS play demolition derby at the end of the game for no good reason, like HAYES and DEVIN did in the last game. I don’t blame CDR for being down, I wouldn’t blame any of our players. This losing is just too much to take. BREAK UP THE NETS. This group should not be forced to play together any more. We have an “ace” in the middle, so let’s trade in our other four “cards” and see what the rest of the deck has to offer. We should have won 3 of the last seven games, and won only one. I can’t take it anymore.

Vince was amazing.

which team is having a worst season:
nj nets or Alcorn State Braves??

by tu vieja on Feb 9, 2010 12:05 AM EST reply actions

Vince looked incredible tonight. His shot was really crisp. Whatever Frank said to him, it’s worked because his play has picked up.

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Feb 9, 2010 12:10 AM EST reply actions

Frank sprinkles the young juice. I wish he did that before he was canned

Break the Nets up? What’s there to break up at this point? There’s nothing left. When I look at the team, I feel like I’m looking at this: http://untitledname.com/2006/06/empty-lot-in-crown-heights

by PA Net on Feb 9, 2010 8:41 AM EST reply actions

Anybody see Vince Carter and the Magic play last night? Damn, VC dropped 48 points and could have broken his career high in scoring, but he became passive in the end. The Magic should have inbounded the ball to him that way he’d be the one at the free-throw line, meaning he could have gotten maybe 52 last night. It’s great to see a former Net do well. Damn, I miss Vince.

by JJ22 on Feb 9, 2010 8:56 AM EST reply actions

I miss VC. Badly.

by Andres on Feb 9, 2010 9:03 AM EST reply actions

Vince did a great job as the leader last year. Even though he had passed his prime, he got everyone involved. That’s why the nets won more than 30 games last year. Other than Vince, the roster is not that different. I know it’s a salary cap dump and it makes sense for a rebuilding team but we can’t help missing him.
By the way, just anyone still care, Sean Williams did play in China and his his first game is 16 points and 18 rebounds. He sounded very mature in an interview. That’s good for him.

by Tomas on Feb 9, 2010 9:32 AM EST reply actions

VC is VC. When he’s on, he’s elite. When he’s not, he’s still pretty darn good. We certainly would have won more than 4 games this year had we had him still, but then the future would be less interesting. I told my wife this morning that I’m enjoying rooting for all the teams with ex-Nets on them.

by PA Net on Feb 9, 2010 9:34 AM EST reply actions

i was going to say lebron would have a monster game, but as it happens so often with the cavs, this game will be a blowout so early in the second half that i doubt he plays more than 4-6 minutes in the 4th quarter.

by sonny on Feb 9, 2010 10:50 AM EST reply actions

so when will rj get his act together?

jkidd, vc and k-mart all performing well recently…if we had those guys the celtics would be afraid of us…even house, mikki, scal and anthony johnson doing great in their roles….

btw, mavs came from behind to win and spurs lost to the kobe/bynum-less lakers (rj with a garbage performance again) so it spoiled another chance for our mavs’ pick to go up one slot… :(

by jirohkanzaki on Feb 9, 2010 11:17 AM EST reply actions

RJ is has been dissapointing this season, career low 12 points since he went +15 ppg.

VC was a monster last night, proved all VC haters he ’’IS’’ the man.

Go orlando Go!!!!

Shaq is too old to stop Howard, Carter’s Magic NBA champs!!!

You deserve it man!!!
