Not Just Bad...Historically Bad

The Nets 4-46 mark is not tied for the worst start for an NBA team. It is the worst start for a professional sports team--worse than any MLB team, worse than any NHL team. Of course, they remain at the bottom of the power rankings. John Schuhmann of NBA.com offers the only hope, that the All-Star version of Devin Harris has begun showing up. Oh wait, he got hurt Sunday going for a loose ball. Never mind.

When they become the Brooklyn Nets the slate will be wiped clean.
Ten years from now, The Brooklyn Nets will not be identified with the NJ version. Technically speaking perhaps, but the team will have a new identity.

The only thing that i dont like even if i somewhat agree with the move to Brooklyn is they’re leaving NJ in a bad season and what’s worst is giving NJ a bad rep! ;(

At least he got hurt hustling after a loose ball instead of tweaking his ankle after an easy layup…

Hey, Jersey has Sinatra, Springsteen, Whitman, Four Seasons and the Rascals. No way can the Nets tarnish that lineup. LOL

“It is the worst start for a professional sports team”
The Det. Lions of the NFL went 0-16.

The 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost every game they played. 0-14.

For any Nets fans who think this is the worst team in sports history, look up the Cleveland Spiders 1899 season. They were a real major league baseball team. Some opposing teams refused to go play them, so they had to play over 100 games on the road that season. Fun stuff to read…
P.S. The Spiders actually had Cy Young on their team the year before. The owner of the Spiders makes Ratner look like a saint in comparison.

The Spiders finished 20-134. The worst team record in baseball history.

I still think that the Nets can get at least 6 more wins by the end of the season, so it’s not too late to dodge a bullet on this unfortunate record.

@Mr. Big
Nets went 0-18. We’re talking 50 game starts. NFL doesnt play 50 games.

Nets aren’t leaving New Jersey for two years. They are leaving the Abomination Center for Newark.

@Mike
We at the NetsDaily Research Desk only count the modern era of baseball. Moreover, the Spiders had a winning percentage of .130. If the Nets attain a winning percentage of .130, they would win 11 games.
So the Spiders would be a better baseball team than the Nets would be a basketball team.

Everybody knows the Nets are not that bad. We just have a unique situation, a perfect storm, if you will, that has battered us, but not broken us.
I would not trade this teams future for any other NBA teams.
Lets go Nets and if we end up with the worst record ever, at least we will be remembered for something…

I bet you could find a formula that weighs the worth of each win and loss in each sport and determine if it’s easier to win a baseball game as opposed to a basketball game.
I think a .130 winning percentage in baseball is probably worse then the Nets current winning percentage. A pitcher in baseball can almost single handed win a game, just like a hockey goalie can beat a great team with a stupendous effort.
Football and basketball are different then baseball. It’s harder to win games and also lose games in baseball.

P.S.
The modern era of baseball has been put around 1900. Probably because it’s a nice round number. A baseball team playing in 1899 could also claim to be part the modern era. LMAO

@ Mike
It should read after 50 games otherwise, a win percentage for the season of .000 is worse than the Nets.

No one buy season tickets this summer that will force them to actually sign free agents.

@Mr. Big;
I agree 1.00% or .130% or .087%. All these percentages are confusing me.

NFL seasons are a lot shorter than the NBA, plus the teams only play once a week unlike NBA teams that play everyday. It’s very possible with the number of games for the NFL for a team to either go undefeated or winnless, but not for just about any other league uneless that team really is bad. Another thing is that the NFL playoffs including the Superbowl isn’t even a 3, 5, or 7 game series, it’s all do or die, so that team has to win just to conintue going otherwise they are done for the season hence no second chances. Overall, don’t compare to this to something that is completely different.
