Celtics Look Back and See Today's Nets

In 2007, the Celtics were in bad shape. Losses piled up as a young team found its way. Ten players had fewer than three years in the NBA. They hoped to win the lottery and take Greg Oden. Then, after losing out on Oden, they gave up the youth movement, picked up two Hall of Famers and gave one of the remaining kids his big chance. A year later, they won it all. Could it happen to the Nets? Not like that.

And I believe in the tooth fairy too. Boy, they must be praying for a trade.

Not even Boston was this bad prior to the Allen and KG trades.

This franchise is a disgrace. I’m almost ashamed I even root for a team whose front office would dare to put a product like this on the floor, but hopefully that front office will be tossed out into the street next season. This stink will never wash off.

@Mr. Dollar Bills
“This stink will never wear off”?

In the 10 years after the 76ers won nine games they averaged 46 wins a year, went to the Finals three times and won the NBA championship once.

Woe is me.

Whatever, we trounced the Celtics for years. The shoe is on the other foot——but not for long.

That is ok. We will be on the rise soon, while the Celtics will continue to get old and will have to think about rebuilding again in the near future.

Like the optimism here, but for the Nets to rise to Celtic status everything has to go right. everything. Great pick next year. Discovery or develop a couple of real good player after Lopez and discover or develop a couple of real good role players. Attract a solid FA or trade for a solid player. What I doubt is the develop, b/c what do we have after Lopez?? Yi, Lee, Twill, CDR, etc. may not be the answer. Celtics had Jefferson, Powe, Gomes, Perkins, Big Baby and Rondo comin in. Allen And Garnett. Pierce already there. We don’t have that good of a nucleus. We need luck.

The celtics did it well, really well. They gave up most of their youth, but they keep the most important one, Rajon Rondo. As long as they keep this guy, it’s worth switching them for all-star veterans, who were and are going downward.

@jarkid
But just as the Mavs are getting older, slowing down (and eating up enormous reserves of cap space and cold hard billionaire cash) so are the Celtics. This is both teams’ last shot at the ring.
