Harris vs. Rondo

They've been compared before. Last year, Devin Harris was the all-star, Rajon Rondo the left-off. This year the roles are reversed...and more. Rondo, of course, has been healthier and it's a lot easier putting up big numbers when you're playing with the Big Three. Harris will have some help tonight: Keyon Dooling will be back after missing two games with his recurring hip problems.

Devin needs to make an example out of Rondo tonight. 35 PTS & 12 AST, i’m calling it now.

Harris isn’t perfect, but Rondo is a cancer.

Boston having all these locker room issues, you know Rondo is at the center of them.

Kevin:

first off, I never liked the word you used as a sports analogy. Associating possibly the most devastating disease in the history of mankind with a sports figure perceived to be a “bad apple” doesn’t make much sense but that is your perogative.

Boston is having locker rooms issues but injuries, aging and lackluster coaching (at least by Rivers) are factors in that equation as well. Let’s remember something – Rajon Rondo is an NBA champion. Furthermore he seems to truly possess a lot more qualities necessary to be a point guard and floor leader than Devin does. Devin has a score-first mentality, pure and simple. yes he is surrounded by garbage other than Brook right now but he has taken no steps to make Brook a better player. I believe Rondo would have Lopez playing at a higher level right now to say nothing of what Jason Kidd could do for him.

Rondo >>>>>>> Harris

Who cares if he has a score first mentality? Not everyone can be Kidd.

by Tim on Feb 5, 2010 5:02 PM EST reply actions

Without the Big Three….rondo would be just a regular player or less (attitude)….If Harris was there instead of Rondo it would be the Big Four……

IMO, they’re both awful defensively. They’re both mediocre passers. They’re both awful shooters. They’re both primadonnas. Rondo is just better at scoring this year, and he’s VERY durable. Gotta like that.

I am reading Dave D’s article. He writes:

“A number of you have asked about the formula that the Nets use to rank players’ efficiency. It’s the same equation that many teams use now, and it looks like this:

1. Compute: Pts + TR + AST + STL + BLK – (FGA – FGM) – (FTA – FTM) – TO.

2. Then divided that number by minutes played."

Really??? This is like a formula calculated on a Texas Instruments calculator from the 70s. Meanwhile, Daryl Morey is using a supercomputer. sigh

@Tim

He wasn’t asking Devin Harris to be Jason Kidd. He was implying that when you put Harris next to Rondo in a competition of running a team, Rondo run circles around him. Not to mention defense..

by Sami on Feb 5, 2010 6:43 PM EST reply actions

Meh, I don’t see it. Put Devin on that team I think they are the same… put Rondo on this years Nets, and I think the Nets would be in WORSE shape.

Yeah Rondo does a great job passing to KG, Paul Peirce, Ray Allen, and Eddie House. I could get 10 assists a game on that team.

@Issac Cancer has more than one meaning and the word had other meanings before it was used for the disease specifically. So he’s not associating with anything. If you have a problem with the dual meaning I suggest you consult the good people that wrote the dictionary.

Rajon Rondo owns Devin Harris. Some of the displays that bum Harris has put on when playing against Boston has been absolutely pathetic

what killed me last year was the way he pouted like a little girl after he rightfully got benched for dogging it against Boston. I expect the same tonight. Get rid of him

by Mr Dollar Bills on Feb 5, 2010 7:32 PM EST reply actions

No comparision or competition
rondo USED harris in the last game
just like Flynn, jennings, and evans
see a pattern here??

“Rondo is having a heck of a time keeping up with this guy.”

Tommy Heinson (or however you spell it)

There is no one more bias in the WORLD then Tommy. There you have it!

Rondo is terrific and much better than Devin Harris. I don’t know how you can watch the Celtics play and say Rondo is a product of the talent on that team. Of course it helps to play with great players, but Rondo has constant success even when those guys are injured, like they often are. He controls their tempo, he softens the defense, he leads their transition game perfectly. He also doesn’t care about his own scoring average, unlike our PG, which is one of the reasons Boston wins so many games and we lose so many games. If you exchanged Rondo for Harris, we would be much….MUCH better off.

at Tim:

“Who cares if he has a score first mentality? Not everyone can be Kidd.”

He is supposed to be a POINT GUARD!!! That is the position that is responsible for being a floor leader and ball distribution first and foremost. The other four guys are the ones that are supposed to be looking for their shots!

by Isaac on Feb 5, 2010 11:31 PM EST reply actions

Rondo is sooooo FAR AHEAD of D Harris its craaazy….its no comparison at all
