"Chris Unit" Got It Done Once...Can They Do It Again?

It was quite the surprise: a group who had never played together suddenly took a top NBA team for a 28-5 ride. That's what happened Wednesday night vs. Toronto. Everyone contributed and gave the coaching staff and fans hope they could do it again. The "Chris Unit"--Douglas-Roberts, Quinn and Humphries--looked like they might. "We’ve got to find a way to win," Humphries said.

Who cares, as long as Yi and Lee play major minutes and Evin “no D in Devin” is out there, the team will suck.

Don’t you get the feeling at least those 3 (chris, chris, kris) want to win. I’m not so sure about the others, but those three seem to leave it all out there. Unlike Yi the robot, Harris I forgot my d, and Lop I whine and have real bad body language and, of course, Lee I wish I were in Orlando….

Problem with D’Allesandro’s analysis: “They’ve played five solid games – for a 4-44 team, anyway – and they’ve lost four of them by an average of 4.8 points.” He forgets to mention that the teams are poor teams and one has 3 major injuries. A good or even average team would have won three out of 4. He forgot to mention 3 of the games were at home. It is not a measure of getting better; it’s measure of the opponents being easier.

I was rewatching the knicks/nets game, the first game when cdr came back from the ankle injury, and there is a distinct difference is his body language, eneergy level, and overall play. cdr would be a fantastic player if he were more focused on coming into every game with a ositive attidtude, not thunking about the teams record. unfortunately, the losing record has indeed taken its toll on the nets, specifally chris, whose play has declined incrediby ever since this team just stopped trying(early in the season)
I just hope the nets see this cdr and keep him for next year when there is something to play, and he can actually make a difference.

chris quinn is the perfect 3rd string pg…he will not hurt you when on the floor…he may get abused by stronger players on defense but he hustles, is a good passer who shoots a good percentage, will stick the 3 on you if not careful and don’t be caught backpedalling in front of quinn because he’ll be in your chest pretty soon for the and 1.

Believe it or not.
The Raptors were undermanned last night and still beat the Nets
No Jose Calderon, Turkoglu, or Derozan
So the Toronto bench was starting last night.
Bog deal the 2nd unit looked good
whooopeeeedooooo

This is why some of us dared suggest that the Nets might be better off with CDR coming off the bench in the first place. Maybe, just maybe, we had a feel for how he could make the greatest contribution and the biggest impact.
Nah. We’re just haters.

can people stop complaining about Brook Lopez? He’s the one star we have, and a top 3 center in the East. We should be happy that the Bobcats didn’t draft him, because Larry Brown was so in love with D.J. Augustin, that he now might be traded. We need Brook, he will be the cornerstone for many years. If we would be winning some games, the guy would never get the hate some of you give him.

Next year i would like to see Harris,Joe Johnson,Rudy Gay,David Lee, Lopez with Dooling,Hayes,Robin Lopez and CLee. Plus Top draft pick. It could be done.Also keep Humph. and Quinn.

FrankC, that’s not very realistic, sorry. You know that it doesn’t work that way.
by Gerard Himself on Feb 5, 2010 12:15 AM EST reply actions
@FrankC
Just subtract Joe Johnson, Rudy Gay and Robin Lopez(not available) and you have it about right. Evan Turner would give Nets the most flexibility (would be able to keep Harris indefinitely.)
Would like to add someone like Marcus Camby before deadline (which means subtracting Yi).
Then you would still have enough cap space to attract someone from 2011, perhaps even LeBron or settle for Rudy Gay (assuming he stays another year).
Not sure if Gay and Turner would work well together, but Wall and Gay would be fine.

This season has been lovelyi. Nets “Big Ticket” will be around for a long tome to come. At least my “Big Ticket” my Sony 52 inch lived up to expectations. Thank God for cheap Chinese imports, sure they may have closed American factories, but hey you can’t beat the price. Message to Thorniki, buy American next time.

like always, we all be disappointed the next game when hump/cdr/twill lay big fat eggs…

Hahaha this is what we have to look forward to Chris Quinn, Kris Humpries, and Chris Douglas Roberts smh. I think they need to unload some young pieces for a star player this year. Don’t just waite until the summer. Bosh doesn’t deserve max deal only Kobe Lebron and D-wade do, just get physical with Bosh in playoffs he’s done.

Can’t wait for the showdown with the Cav’s. Our national treasure Lebron vs their Nat’l treasure Yi. An international showdown. I hope Shaq doesn’t spoil it by glaring at Yi and sending him scurring to the 3 pt line.

I like what I’ve seen from Quinn. I think he is a real point guard and runs the offense well.
by OPutney on Feb 5, 2010 7:20 AM EST reply actions
I also like Quinn, he hits the 3 real well and has been pretty aggressive trying to get steals, he’s at least trying to put it all out there. He and Humphries were good acquisitions.

The Raptors wouldn’t make the playoffs in the West. How are they a top NBA team?
@Jeff
If CDR gets traded, I can’t wait to hear what his biggest fan like you and Memphis Slim have to say about CDR coming off the bench. Does it make it better that a team wants him and trades for him to come off their bench?
I can’t wait to read what CDR’s brother tweets about his new teammates. Nothing says maturity like having your family fight your battles for you. Anyone else remember Raptors fans getting sick of Vince’s Mother trying to play arm chair GM through the media?

Yeah they played well but it was TWill that made them. Twill handling the ball in the second unit is what worked. Kiki messed up when he put the same squad back in the second half. Twill did handle the ball in the second half.

If/when CDR gets traded from the Nets, I will not be posting on this site. I can only speak for myself.

@ cpawfan
My thoughts on CDR being traded and “coming off the bench” for another team? I’m sure that CDR knows that he must compete for a spot on another team. After all, CDR has never just been “GIVEN” anything in his career. His skills and willingness to compete have gotten him this far. My money is still on CDR to be a key player for an(other) NBA team.

@Jeff
So is it still Frank’s fault that CDR hasn’t done more in his NBA career?
by cpawfan on Feb 5, 2010 11:18 AM EST reply actions
if cdr can’t compete for a spot on the worst team in nba history, how can he compete for a spot someplace else?

Frank looks like Red Aurbach compared to Kiki.

@Nicky
Not sure specifically what remarks you are referring to?
Prokhorov is a Russian political figure and Putin follows his actions closely. The timing of his taking Control of Nets is related to his busy schedule. Prokhorov has lots of things to consider. This is part of the Nets news.
There is an critical trade deadline coming up and someone, maybe CDR or Yi or both will likely be traded.
Facts such as that Yi’s agent last year (maybe you weren’t following closely?) objected to LFrank not giving Yi more PT, deserving of his raw statistics, is new worthy. The new owner needs to be aware of these things, because they would likely repeat themselves next year, should Yi still be a Net, but not getting significant PT.
Yi is also a marketing figure and a representative of China. Perhaps everyone’s interests would be better served if Yi was on a championship caliber team such as the Orlando Magic?

I like all three of them in the 2nd unit, they play better than the guys that they come in for. Lee, Harris, and Yi are garbage
